Stayed here a couple of times as it is in a convenient location off the motorway as a stop off on the way to Scotland. The rooms are fine but old fashioned but some people might call it quaint. We were up graded again so I think this might be their standard form when not over busy. The food has... More

I have stayed here regularly whilst on business for over 10 years. There are a few hotels in this area in the same price range and of similar quality, however none provide the warm welcome and a personal touch that you receive at the Cumbrian Lodge. All the rooms are comfortable and very clean, I should know I have slept... More

Stayed two nights as in the area for a wedding and could not fault the hotel. We arrived late on the Friday and it was absolutely no trouble. Very friendly hosts, clean comfortable room (amazing shower!) and fantastic breakfast. Thoroughly recommend.

I've been here before and one of the things I'd say is that the welcome, service and standards were just as high or better than before. A good selection of drinks although they really must get a Rioja in!! Choice of menu along with specials is really good and I've not had anything other than a super meal. As for... More

This small hotel is mainly used by contractors at Sellafield power plant. The rooms are small but spotless and the bed comfortable enough. The shower was really powerful but the water was only lukewarm. The owner and staff are very friendly and the food is excellent. I suppose one could use this as a base to explore the lakes but... Have stayed and eaten at the Cumbrian Lodge before but in all honesty I prefer staying in Gosforth. That said I will pop to the Cumbrian Lodge for the occasional meal. You know here that you will get a good dining experience and a good steak meal. This time I had the black pudding starter with a beautifully cooked steak... More

I enjoyed a really tasty meal here with family in October 2012. I don't eat meat or fish and, having mentioned this when booking, a variety of dishes were offered in addition to the standard menu. Starter was a delightful pear salad with delicious toasted seeds and mixed leaves. My fellow diners had king prawns which all went down very... More

I've eaten a few times at The Cumbrian Lodge and I've always been impressed by the quality of the food and the service here. The bar and restaurant are decorated in a very light, airy style but manage to be cosy and the seating is comfortable with plenty of space, so you never feel crowded. Dishes on the menu range... I have stayed here a number of times over the last few months and it is one of my first choices if I ever go back to the area. The owners run a small (6? room) hotel and a restaurant, and of the two I think they concentrate on the restaurant more than the hotel. That's not to say that... More
