Please don’t ignore this review !! Worst hotel ever experienced . Do not go if ur English / Welsh not welcome .. I always book the holidays and this holiday I booked a quick get away with my boyfriends and baby 1 years old the worst iv ever booked I don’t know wat I was thinking.I read reviews but think aw just wingy people . I wish I listened wat a waste of money £2k gone down the drain. We went 10 days and after 2 days I begged the rep (ozzy who was lovely) to move us and he did sister hotel Amelia hotel. Wen we arrived was looked at with disgust by the guests ,didn’t even speak to us ignored us at reception , took us to the back of the hotel in the basement basically , had to get 2 lifts to get to the lobby as we had a pram . Full of Russians and Germans but not nice people , my 1 year old would say hi and smile but ther was no reaction or smiles off these people .. so so rude , they pushed infront of me at the lift with my son , and the bar until my boyfriends said to the Russian “oi” move then he chucked a cup on the floor and walked alway . Food was freezing cold , no choice just( veal ) kids counter just nuggets and spegetti and sauce for 2 days freezing cold . Wen we finally said enough we was moving on day 3, the manger was so rude tried to charge us money for leaving the hotel late wen we was just told we could go to another hotel , phones our room sayin u be charged for late check out . We rushed to chuck everything in suitcase to get out the room. Even tho wasnt our fault ther hotel was vile . He then made a fuss about towel cards , as the day before out towls on the sun lingers and they got stolen after 2 hours ,He wasn’t guna let us leave ,was so miserable . We couldn’t wait to get out that hotel ,ruined our holiday . Made us argue as a couple just horrible

Sunmelia hotel is a nice hotel.Mostly for families because of a pool, waterslides and entertainment. There is a small pool for relax and its not alowed for children. The beach is ok and clean. You can have horse or cammel ride, great sunsets. The best of meals is on the beach where there is a great pizza. Rooms are big and clean, staff is nice. You have a good watersports, boat tours, photo and video shoots. The spa center is great,a massage is a must do.

I recommend the hotel. The hotel is good and the staff is pleasant. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Our stay was great, no complaints. The food was very very good, there was a large selection of all kinds of dishes. The beach is wide and sandy, the food at the beach bar is also good. The animation team really made the guests enjoy themselves and the evening shows were quite interesting and entertaining.

Our stay at the Sunmelia Beach Resort & Spa was very mixed to say the least. There were positives to our stay here and also some negative aspects that need addressing and considering when booking. The transfer from Antalya airport to the hotel was roughly 1.5 hours which included a stop off near the hotel for a toilet break. Upon arriving to the hotel, it was clear the hotel was in the middle of nowhere and would require a long walk or taxi to any sort of activities off the resort premises. There was a bazaar and shopping mall roughly 5-10 mins taxi ride away from the hotel, costing 5 or so euros. It should be mentioned that the locals around preferred euros over their countries currency lira, but would accept both. The hotel is very presentable from the reception area, to the lobby bar and these staff were friendly enough but quite brazen at times. In terms of the location of the hotel, it is situated roughly 30 mins away from the small village of Side, which was beautiful and a definite visit if you were thinking of leaving the resort. There were plenty of shops and places to visit and even take you on a train ride through ruins of Turkey upon heading into the village. There was a steak resturaunt in there with a wide range of foods and drinks which was also showing all sports you could think of on numerous TV's. They also place a little turtle on your table as you wait for food as a small companion for company upon waiting for food. The beach also provides a new area to visit with numerous bars and shops on the coastline and dock. If you are thinking of staying here, Side is definitely a place to visit. The rooms were adequate and no issues were to note in terms of the aesthetic. The mini bar was refilled daily and the towels were changed daily unless a do not clean sign was posted on the door. One noticeable issue was the floors and rubbish was not cleaned thouroughly enough which did not provide a good enough service from the cleaners. There is a TV within the room which shows 3-4 channels in English. The remaining 40 odd channels were either in Turkish or Dutch, giving us our first indication that English guests were not necessarily catered for enough. The food was also adequate at best. The breakfast within the main resturaunt was clearly more suited to Turkish guests, providing more cuisine options to them. Lunch areas were slightly different as the main resturaunt was still providing these options, but the Gardenia resturaunt was serving different options of hot dogs and doughnuts. There was also the beach bar which provided the guests with a wider range of typical beach food, such as burgers, salads, chicken and pizza. This is the area I would recommend going to for lunch if this caters you best. Finally, dinner time was slightly improved as they provided a few more options for all ages and cultures, to which guests were served donner meat which went down well with other members of our family. Overall, the food does need improvement to cater for all guests. The beer on tap was Efes which you could tell was watered down and became very gassy after drinking a number of cups of these. The small shop within the hotel does sell bottles of Corona and Desporados for 5 Euros each. There was a wide range of cocktails and other spirited drinks so there is a wide range of choice for alcaholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Moving onto the staff, majoritively the staff were pleasant and some were even extremely friendly. The animation staff in particular were excellent, providing fun activities every day, speaking to all guests and generally being chatty and friendly. In particular, Yunus and Evran who handled the dart acitivies during the day were, in my opinion, the best as they provided the best experience for me and always wanted to chat. Also Angelica was very friendly and provided the aqua aerobic activity in the morning with enthusiasm and a smile. All the animation team were great but the ones mentioned above stood out to me the most and definietly deserve credit for their hard work and dedication. However, some of the bar staff could come across as rude at times and would prioritise drinks for the local Turkish people and other guests before ourselves. Some were particularly forward with the way they spoke to my partner and the other girls we were with on the holiday. Please bear in mind that some of the bar staff can be over excited and "flirt" a bit too much. Finally to end on possibly the biggest negative of ours was the hotel guests. Undertsandably, the hotel cannot control the guests they permit stay at their hotel, but they do have a duty of care when guests are rude or are causing issues for other guests just wanting to relax and have a good holiday. Unfortunately, the guests were extremely rude and arrogant, believing they were above the other people staying there. They would barge infront of you for food, drinks and even stare at our family during the day and night for no reason whatsoever. This did get quite frustrating for us as we only wanted to enjoy our holiday but felt like we couldnt alot of the time as we were being ridiculed. There was even a point when one of our family members (teenage girl) was hit with a bag for accidently spilling a drink behind another person which was distressing and completely unnecessary. This is not to say all guests were liek this, but the majority were not pleasant and this should be mentioned and noted before booking here. Overall, the experience here was very mixed. The hotel was presentable and nice and the food could be an area of imrpovement. The hotel staff were, on the whole, polite and good but the guests can be very rude and should be considered. I would recommend this hotel if you can look past the remoteness of location and general attitude of some of the guests.

Stayed here for 8 nights as a group of 7, prior to arriving I had read very mixed reviews but I like to make my own mind up as everyone has their own options likes and preferences. Now I am not a fussy person what so ever and don’t expect a holiday to go exceptionally perfect but I’ll do an honest option of our time at Sunmelia. Transfer from he airport was around an hour and 40 mins in which we had a 15 minute stop off for a toilet and smoking break , we went past a few busy areas on our route however arriving at the Sunmelia in dark it appeared there didn’t seem much around. This is correct , your pretty much in the arse end of nowhere , there is a strip of markets and an Armadale down the road but in 40 degree heat it was too far to walk so we got in a taxi, taxi cost 5 euro each way as everything is in euro on this side of Turkey, we usually go to altinkum so are used to lira, we used lira on the whole of this holiday however the locals don’t really like it, a staff member told us this is because the Turkish can change the euro and get a better exchange rate meaning they are making extra money, if you prefer lira stick with it they do take it everywhere. If you like to venture out in an evening for food or drinks it’s a 25 minute taxi into the main resort which was 20 euros each way. This side of Turkey seems expensive compared to what we are used to over in altinkum, we nipped into side old town one evening for food, the old town it’s self is stunning but again we found it more expensive than we are used to in Turkey and one meal out cost over £250. Cocktails are around 12 euros each for those who enjoy a cocktail. The weather all week was 40 degrees so the air on in the room was very welcoming , it works well but will cut off as soon as you open the balcony door. Wifi in the hotel worked mostly everywhere however cuts on and off constant unless you’re in the lobby bar or reception. The hotel - the hotel itself is lovely however the guests are awful, rude arrogant. I’ve never experienced anything like it in Turkey before and I go Turkey pretty much every year but as I say I go the other side of Turkey , there is very few English there and it appears they are the only ones with manners, no one seems to know the meaning of waiting your turn and pushes in constant , guests leave their towels out on the sun loungers the night before which I haven’t seen before either so if you want a decent bed by the poolside your needing to be up at 7am , there is plenty of sun beds to go round though but everyone goes for the poolside ones. Food is typical Turkey food and doesn’t cater much for English , my family didn’t really enjoy the meals however I had no issues with any meal and enjoyed them all except breakfast , that’s a complete waste of time going to unless you like mincemeat topped with fried egg or chips. The donnor meat they do in the evening is delicious. The poolside snack isn’t great it’s hotdogs that are cold or some donut type thing which are tasty, the beach snack bar in the day is your best option as do have a selection of burgers nuggets pasta bolognaise , chicken wraps stuff like that aswell as your salads. Drinks are your standard alcoholic drinks abroad and they do efes in the hotel which my husband usually likes however found it very gassy so was buying desperados in the hotel shop , these were 5 euros each, I ordered a Malibu and coke in the lobby bar for a change from gin and this cost 10 euros , and yes we were all inclusive. Our room was provided with clean towel and bedding daily however floor wasn’t cleaned once. I personally wasn’t bothered as I’m only in there to sleep and shower but for those who like it thoroughly cleaned daily be prepared for this not to happen. The maids did leave a lovely surprise with petals on the bed and a swan towel. Some staff there are lovely and others are rude and will serve the foreigners before the English even if you are infront of them. Animation team - the animation team really do make this hotel as enjoyable as it was, they work so hard and really get the guests to engage in activities , I’d like to personally thank YUNUS for entertaining my husband all week so I had a chance to sunbathe 🤣 YUNUS is by far the best staff member in the animation team, so friendly, fun and polite to all the guests, he even makes the effort in the evening with guests and will be missed on our next trip to Turkey as next time it’s back to altinkum. ANGELIKA made aqua aerobics the most enjoyable , lovely friendly lady who has the guests doing a lovely workout that you can follow easily , the other ladies were lovely too however a little too fast to keep up in the pool. And again ANGELIKA made the effort in the evenings to come over for a chat and engage. Cannot thank those two enough for making myself and my family have such an enjoyable week. For the smokers , do not buy your cigs in the hotel , it seems that because there isn’t anything around the hotel everyone around is ripping you off left right and centre, hotel charges 5 euro a pack of 20, there is an at sale down the road which was 35 euros a sleeve which is still more expensive than altinkum but if you go into the bigger of the bizarre markets down the road there is a little shop in there that charges 20 euros a sleeve. To sum it up the hotel itself is lovely but could improve a little with the breakfasts to cater to all, some staff do ask for a tip. The young man on the skates round the pool was lovely and polite, we tipped him 10 euros (he didn’t ansk) and he looked after us all week bringing us drinks to our sun lounger. Can’t really do anything about what guests book in there but the staff should at least take control and have some sort of order instead of allowing people to push in left right and centre, honestly the most rude arrogant vile guests I’ve ever been around , one even hit my teenager for spilling her drink 😤. Although I had a lovely week with my family and lots of laughs with YUNUS and ANGELIKA I think it’s safe to say I will not be returning to this side of Turkey , I’ll stick to the area I know best and love.

We stayed here as a family (17in total) and had a great time from booking in to booking out mainly due to the size of our family, let me start by thanking everyone who works at the hotel for being so nice as nothing was too much trouble to them (Reception ,waiters , cleaners , cooks, animation team & realy big thank you to the bar staff who kept us supplied with drinks) we had 7 rooms between us which were cleaned each day with only one problem arising that we were short on towels in one room which was finally corrected after a couple of phone calls and some hours later, This is a large hotel with 4 pools and a private beach with plenty of sun loungers and a great beach bar and cafe were we ate most dinner times.we found It caters mainly for Eastern Europeans so that is why not many hotel staff can speak english but we found they were willing to learn as they translated on their phones. It is the first all inclusive hotel that i have witnessed so much food being wasted by diners they just pile the food onto their plates and leave what they can't eat, just take enough and go back for more if needed. overall i would say this is a good hotel with lovely hard working staff who get some abuse from ignorant people who should know better but which sadly at the moment is not geared up to the English

We stayed at this hotel 6th-12th August 2023 Very rude staff on reception ….We arrived at 5am after a delay at the airport because too many flights arrived at the same time. Had to wait hours for our luggage. Arrived at the hotel as a family of 5 (including 2 children). Was told we weren’t registered at the hotel and told “not my problem” but a very rude male on reception. He promptly took himself to the back room of reception and refused to talk to us. Had an awful experience. Eventually at 10am we were given our rooms (booked in June!) by the daytime manager. No apology, no explanation. He also was very rude to begin with. When I tried to explain the poor customer service we had received he told me that the staff are Turkish and not English and could not understand me……yet there I was communicating with both in English! The room was cleaned daily, food ok but very repetitive. The hotel looks amazing from the lobby but as others have pointed out is dirty in places. The “view” from our room was piled up cigarette buts and rubbish. Drinks are watered down and disgusting, the only all inclusive holiday where we have drunk water every day, Entertainment staff are brilliant and the female staff in the lobby area are really lovely. I genuinely feel for them having to work with such rude colleagues!! Will never go to this hotel ever again and in the process of completing a full complaint with the tour operator. Things sometimes go wrong on holidays but I have never experienced such rude behaviour and a complete disinterest in helping us. Sat in a reception area for five hours with 2 children was a terrible start to a much needed holiday that unfortunately spoilt the whole week!

The same food in all 3 meals and in the 7 days I stayed. The sheets in the room were not changed every day as is the rule. Drinks are all fake, the essence. I was shocked by everything around that resort. No management at night, the same boring music. The worst experience I have ever had.
