This is the first review I've ever written. We've traveled as a family to most of the main holiday destinations in Europe and further afield like USA, Dubai, etc so I feel we have a good experience of different hotels and what to expect. I always read lots of reviews before booking any hotel, but I also always take them with a "pinch of salt" as I know most people only leave reviews if they have something bad to say! I think the reviews for this hotel, in particular, are quite mixed and that's why I felt compelled to write this review to try and give some clarity and hopefully help future families with an insight into this hotel. We stayed at the Lyra for 10 days in August 2022, we are a family of 4 - children aged 9 and 12. We stayed in the "Lakehouse" area of the hotel, and we booked a "swim-up standard room". We were upgraded at check-in to a "swim-up family room", I believe the main difference is that the room is just a bit bigger, but not sure there are many other differences, but we still appreciated the free upgrade, it was a nice surprise. The room itself was nice, it consisted of the main living space which had the main master bed in it, wardrobes and a dressing table with large mirror etc. It then had a separate bedroom with bunk beds for the kids, and 2 bathrooms. Unfortunately, the shower head in the 2nd bathroom didn't work in our room, it didn't bother us too much so we just ignored it and used the shower in the main bathroom. Im sure we could have called reception and they would have sorted it but it didnt bother us. The room was located in the "lakehouse" area. One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was for the swim-up rooms, and we were very pleased that we booked this. The lakehouse area is by far the nicest area of the hotel. Its lots of small 2 storey buildings dotted around lake style swimming pools that meander through the buildings. If you pay for swim-up then you get a ground floor room that opens onto a patio area with private loungers right in front of the pool. If you book a lakehouse room but not swim-up then you will be in the same buildings but either on the ground floor at the back of the buildings, or on the first floor. All the rooms in the lakehouse area get there own loungers, the loungers have the room numbers marked on them so you know which is yours. This is really nice because it means you don't have any of the early morning dash to get loungers! The only downside was that there seemed to be some families who just used other loungers that clearly weren't for their rooms, and there wasn't really anyone that monitored this. You also only get one double lounger per room, for us it was ok, our kids are younger and small so we could squeeze all 4 of us on our double lounger, but for a family with maybe 2 teenagers this wouldn't work. You do have 2 plastic patio chairs, but they arent very comfy so you wouldnt want to sit on those for very long. There are definitely some rooms that are located better than others. If you are in any of the buildings on the east side of the pools then you are going to get the sun almost all day, if you are on the west side like us then we only got the sun in the morning until about 2pm and then we were in full shade for the rest of the day. At first, this annoyed us a bit as we wanted the sun, but we soon realised that actually, it's so hot in august that the shade in the afternoon was rather nice!!! The pools seemed to be in sunlight for almost all of the day, so that was good. The lakehouse area has its own restaurant and pool bar. These are only for use of people staying in the lakehouse area, which is nice as it means they are much much quieter than the main restaurants and bars. But lakehouse guests can use all the facilities of the hotel, so you have the quieter lakehouse but if you want to use the main hotel then you can. The walk from the lakehouse area to the main hotel is probably a few mins, so not far at all, but it does feel very separate and much much quieter than the main hotel, which we loved. The main hotel is nice, we had no issues with reception, all very friendly, spoke fairly good english, no problems at all really. The main swimming pool was nice, along with the beach, but this is stone/pebble, some of the pictures on the hotel website make it seem like sand, but it isnt! Didnt bother us, but it does hurt your feet after a while! Lots of loungers, and the central wooden "pier" is a nice feature. We paid to hire a "king cabana" for the day. This was 70euros, but included your own waiter who brought you drinks all day, along with food, snacks etc. It was a really lovely day spent by the beach, looking out over the sea, in our private cabana, and it had a hammock on the end of the cabana floating over the sea! Lovely spot to spend the day, if you're happy to pay that extra for it. Generally, the whole hotel is a bit rough around the edges. From a distance it looks nice but when you look closer its a little worn. Few examples would be- Many of the planks on the pier are wobbly and move under your feet! The steps from the sea up onto the pier were shaking and didn't seem to be fixed particularly well to the pier. Alot of the loungers had broken legs or arms, didnt feel particularly sturdy, we did see a maintenance man fixing one for other guests, so maybe this is reliant on guests complaining and getting them fixed. Most of the cushions on the loungers were marked or stained, they all needed a really good clean! In general, it just felt a little tired in places. Food - Unfortunately, this is the main negative of this hotel. The food is very very average. There is almost no variety, with 90% of the same dishes every night. They didn't have any themed nights or specials at all. The choice for kids is even worse. The lakehouse restaurant didn't even have a kids section! The main hotel restaurant had a kids section, but for some strange reason they closed it at 7:30pm, so if you got to the restaurant after 7:30pm there was no kids section at all! Every night they had chips, rice and pasta, then a few other dishes mostly consisting of turkey, chicken or beef. I admit my kids are quite fussy eaters, and they really struggled. They didn't have any chicken nuggets, pizza, sausage, or anything "child friendly" at all. My kids had pasta the whole 10 days! If your kids are a bit more adventurous with food they may enjoy it a little more, but I eat most things and just found it very boring. The main topic of conversation between all the guests was how the food was the same every day! The biggest downside to the lakehouse area is that you do miss out on some extra food that they have around the main hotel pool, things like burgers, hot dogs, and waffles, these are all available at "snack time" which is 2pm-4pm but only around the main hotel pool, not by the lakehouse. We had waffles a couple of days and they were lovely, but we weren't told about the "snack service" being different by the main pool and only found out on our last few days so missed out on this for the majority of our stay. The main hotel restaurant had the same food as the lakehouse restaurant, but for some reason, the inside seating had no aircon! It was like a sauna in there and was almost impossible to get a seat outside, this is another reason why the lakehouse area is a must, id hate to have to sit inside that main hotel restaurant every night. The hotel has a small water park which was good fun, we all enjoyed the slides, we used it a few times during our stay and it was never overly busy, we didn't really queue for any of the slides. Cleaners - we had cleaners in every day, but they didn't actually clean! They just made our beds, and I'm fairly sure they didn't change the bedding for clean bedding, they just made the beds with the same bedding each day! In 10 days we had a proper clean once in the 10 days we were there. But I still wouldnt call this a clean, they just swept the floors! There was mold in the bathroom when we arrived, and it was still there when we left! Staff - in general all the staff were very friendly and helpful, apart from reception all the other staff really don't speak very good English so it does make it a little tricky when needing to ask the waiters/chefs for things. Ultimately I think this hotel is somewhere between a 3 and 4 star hotel, it's certainly not a 5 star hotel. That doesn't mean it's bad, it has some elements which are 4 star quality, but it also has some elements that are 3 star and maybe even 2 star quality. We are a fairly laid-back and easy-going family, and overall we really loved our 10 day holiday in Turkey. Yes the food could have been better, and I think the maintenance team needs to get to work on fixing alot of the broken sunbeds etc. But we didnt let it spoil our holiday, we had a great time, and if you're expectations arent really high then I think most will enjoy this hotel too. If you are overly fussy and are maybe expecting 5 star quality then I wouldn't recommend this hotel. I would recommend the lakehouse area to anyone looking at this hotel, in my opinion without this area the hotel becomes very very average. It is worth the money to upgrade, and if you can then go for the swim-up it does really make a difference, waking up in the morning and opening your patio doors onto your private lounger and stepping into the pool, it's really lovely, particularly with kids. Hope this helps someone :)

Overall resort to stay. There are activities mostly for kids.on web page says ultra all inclusive but in reality nothing is free, not even spa. I have been to other hotel ultra all inclusive and everything was included in price. Same food every day, only difference is the barbecue grill or traditional dishes. Most of the staff are friendly but not all! Big applause for Ömer from entertaining and Mercan from beach bar they save up everything with their enthusiasm and charisma. Ömer escorted us to the karma night club where was fun and help me to wish to my lady happy birthday on her day. Mercan from beach bar was always happy to serve and made my day with special shots. On the other hand management needs improvement a lot. We suffer a bus accident just a day before checking out and we asked to do late checkout because we have no time to pack our stuff and the request was promptly declined and told us to come next day when we need to do checkout and then next day they said that they are out of room and we need to leave at 12 o'clock. Shame, big shame on them. Drinks are local brands underscore lucky soft drinks were fine and ultimate the beer was good. I remember the housekeeping took our double blanket and give us a single one instead and in that night I have tried to call reception for a double blanket but the thelephone was not working properly and I had to walk to reception and trust me my room didn't was close at all, I had to told tell twice in that night plus one more time day after to finally get us next day afternoon. Bad service at all.

We arrived in Lyra Resort quite late and opted to go straight to our room which was in the main building, on arrival the room was hot and the AC took quite a while to kick in. We were pleased to find the mini bar as others have said was stocked with branded cans and water and was free to consume and restocked daily. The room was set up for 4 (one double and 2 single) and was basic in decor but clean. In the morning having looked around the resort we decided to find out about switching to the lakehouse area, which we were able to do, as we preferred the lower rise of the buildings and privacy of the pool areas. We were allocated room 1644, which was right by the 'pink' (although I would describe it as purple/lilac) pool, the shallow pool with sun loungers in, this was ideal for us with a 3 year old. Our room was perfect as it was a 5 min walk to the main hotel and also a 5 min walk to the water park and lake house restaurant. The main benefits we found from this side of the hotel was that the rooms were far more modern - we had a separate room for our 2 children with pull down beds (perfect!), access to the swim round pools that were much quieter and easier to find sun loungers round, and access to the smaller and quieter restaurant. The restaurant was much smaller and generally always quieter and served basically the same food as the main one without the queues - the first morning we ate in the main restaurant and waited for pancakes for about 5 mins, the next morning in the lakehouse restaurant we went straight up and had them served! Even omelettes and toasties were a quick 1 or 2 person queue unlike in the main restaurant. If you like the hustle and bustle of a busy restaurant then you might prefer the main area, but we didn't! The same goes for the pool, there is more music and easier access to snacks (hotdogs, waffles and icecreams) at the main pool, but too be honest after trying them the waffles were the only thing we would rate - and probably better for our waistline being further away! We really enjoyed the waterpark and throughout the stay more of the slides opened - initially the main splash park and one of the tall slides was open, but by the end of the 10 days all slides were open, for our 3 and 9 year olds the slides were great. I think the limited opening times of the waterpark (10-12.30 and 2-4pm) worked well for us as we could enjoy an hour or so before heading back to the room to cool down or using the pools after the water park had closed, plenty of options. Overall the main things I would say let the resort down were: - lack of staff serving on the bars - there was always a queue. Most resorts I have been to have self serve soft drinks, here they use bottled branded products, great for taste, but never cold and always a wait - why not make everyone's experience better and install self serve? - ice creams - these were served from a freezer by a member of staff at arbitrary times, again why not provide small pots of icecream people can help themselves too? No ice cream at dinner or lunch as the 'cart' was closed - very strange, especially for children on holiday. - Food was never particularly hot, unless you opted for the freshly made omelettes for breakfast or toasties, everything else was hot held and NEVER hot, it is a wonder more people don't get sick with luke warm food. We found the food ok for us as adults, as there was usually something different each evening (repeated every few days!), but for our children there was only really pasta and sauce or chips, the snack hotdogs were some indescribable colour, not sure what meat they were?! - Times for food and bar openings - this was very confusing as there were so many different things open at different times in different parts of the hotel, plus there were no maps available, only a large fixed signage map near the Olive Bar, this would have helped navigate what was open and when. To be honest the main gripe I had was around the self serve of ice cream and soft drinks, as this to me is a key part of AI and I felt that let down the overall offering, and in theory could be a simple and cost effective switch for them. On Day 2 our son slipped in the waterpark and cut his chin and required a trip to the hospital, the Dr on site was great and we returned to get his stitches checked and he was always happy to take a look and speak to us when he saw us to find out how our son was doing. This was very reassuring as having to navigate a hospital in a foreign country is never something you want to have to do! We took a couple of trips to Lyra shopping centre, which was lovely and Air-conditioned, if you prefer to shop without being hassled then this is the best option, as you just choose what you want and go to the till at the end - no opportunity to haggle though, so worth a trip to the local shops to check you have a rough idea of what you might be able to get things for. The hotel offered a free bus there, and it was a 5 EURO and 5 min taxi ride too. Overall we enjoyed the stay despite a few small grumbles above, the hotel itself was clean and well maintained, and our room was great - overall a 10 night stay that we thoroughly enjoyed.

This was our first trip to Turkey to the Lyra Resort, very beautiful and amazing staff and entertainment. Especially Omer who was very good fun and welcoming. We went on a pub crawl with Omer which was amazing, he arranged the taxi and took good care of me and my wife. He was very respectful at all times and was someone we could easily trust. Omer took more time to make sure our stay was very special in comparison to the other staff. We would very highly recommend this hotel. The sea was also very fun with big waves, food available at all times and the disco being open until 6am is very nice.

Lovely hotel but there is just some things that would make it 100%! My boyfriend and I arrived around 7pm ish and were kindly escorted to our (extremely hot!) Room. The kind gentleman showed us the mini fridge (free and filled on a daily basis) and then left. We went down to get a bit to eat and explored around a little. When we came back to our room (in the main building on the top floor) it's was so incredibly hot and uncomfortable. After waiting a long while to see if the aircon would kick in my boyfriend went down to reception to inform them that it wasn't working. They sent maintenance up who fiddled with a box outside and said to wait an hour after about an hour the slightest semi cold breeze was coming out of it, but it was better than nothing. Of course it then broke again the next day. We told reception at least 4 maybe 5 times and informed our holiday rep (on the beach) but kept being told there were no rooms to move into and it was a problem with the whole building. So in the end we just gave up and had to live with it because they weren't going to do anything about it. The rest of the hotel was lovely food was okay some days there wasn't a great variety but there were some absolutly delicious dishes. We did sometimes struggle to find a table in the main resturant as it gets really really busy and there didnt seem to be enough staff to empty and then set all the tables. During the day you can use the snack bar or main restraunt. They had a waffle place too but we only managed to go maybe twice because it gets so busy as people tend to get about 5 waffles at a time for their family and they take a little bit to cook as they are freshly made. We booked the Italian restaurant one night and that was really lovely but I wouldn't describe the food as italian. Pool was nice and big and the cleaners did a great job. The maids did a lovely job on your room too. Staff were friendly to everyone, animation team were ok, didn't really see much of any of then apart from when they did their dance.. the beach was lovely but I would recommend some water shoes as it is very rocky! Getting a sunbed around the pool wasn't too difficult I the morning but I'd say get there before 8.30/9 ish or you might struggle! Night entertainment was okay but we struggled to actually see the stage some nights as it gets so busy and people have no problem standing right infront of where your chair is and it's only a small area. I would also reccomwnt mosquito repellent (I got bitten 11 times on 1 leg!) But they do sell it in the little shop (very reasonable priced too) we went on a boat trip (recommended by our holiday rep). The boat trip cost us about 45 pounds each and was advertised as the Turkish maldives. That was not that case at all and we were extremely disappointed as it was expensive. We didn't go anywhere near what it looked like on all the pictures we were shown. We went on the shuttle bus to the shopping centre which was a change of scenery as there isn't really anything to do around the hotel. Overall we did have a really lovely holiday but I would not say this was a 5* hotel. I think therr are just too many guest and the hotel wasnt made for that many. There are so many good points to it but also a lot of bad ones (that could be so easly fixed!) I dont think i would be able to reccoment this hotel to friends or family though. Our main issue with this hotel was how poor and broken the air con was in the main building, as brits we are not use to it so its a bit of a shock!

We arrived before check in, but was allowed to use everything in the hotel which was great. The hotel was clean and had everything we needed. The staff for the best part were welcoming and friendly. Food in the main hotel was pretty much the same everyday. But you could always find something. The fresh pasta snack bar was amazing. Some of us ate here daily. As it’s fresh, sometimes there is a queue. The lady who makes the flat breads with meat or cheese fresh is defo a must try! Entertainment team were mostly good. Apart from Omar. He’s overly sexualised towards the women. To the point of harassment. We brought tickets with him for a bar crawl. He then used the details to keep messaging the females about meeting up on the beach. At the bar crawl he got extremely drunk, rude and argumentative. I would have thought his role would have been to show us the bars etc. but he just used it for his own excuse to get drunk and steal our drinks. Overall a great place to holiday.

Lyra resort is in place called Kizilak, which is about 15 mins car ride from Side. And about 1,5h from Antalya airport. We stayed in june/july 2022 in swim up family room, at a lake house part of the resort. Room itself was good, cleaned every day, towels changed every 2 days, separate air-condition in each room. u get refrigerator (which is very noisy btw) but filled with water, branded soft drinks and beer every day. You have a small balcony from which u can enter pool in most rooms. There are large sunbeds all over the place, (not all are in front of balkonies, so dont count on having one in front of your place). Lake-house area has its own cozy restaurant and a bar. Lake house is separated from the other part of the hotel by a nice water park. In a swim up room expect noise from kids playing and jumping in the mini pool most of the day, so if u are a long sleeper or like to take a nap in the afternoon it is much unlikely you will be able to, due to noise. Or u can close all windows, crack up airconditioning and use ear plugs (like we did) When you walk from this side of the resort to the other side where beach and resort activities are, there is no safe path all the way. You have to cross a street leading to hotel enterance (be extra carefull and dont let kids walk or go to beach alone!!!) as Turks usually don't mind of the pedestrians much, even on crossings. Lake house part itself is allright, Some guests never left this side, and i will explain why. Beach is sandy, with enterance to the water sadly cowered in little stones (where it matters the most) so either get sandals or going in and out of the water will be unpleasant. Water gets very deep after few meters so don't let kids play there alone. There is approximetly 100 sun roofs on the beach, with 4 sunbeds each. Resort has about 500 rooms for families. So if u want a place on the beach u must get there early and reserve a spot with towels. Best is 7AM as u might get in 1st row. At 8AM you most likely wont be able to find free space on the beach. There are umbrellas and sunbeds at the pools, if that is your thing. There are some baldahins that are paid extra and reservers in advance. Night activities at resort are pretty basic, and unexpected for resort this big. Every night there is time for kids to listen to same few songs and be on stage. No real animation, and after that you watch kids receive t-shirts which their parents bought them for 13eur at daycare center. Kids are asked to sing on stage if they wont, but noone really wants to. Just ridiculous routine you watch every single night. Then you wait for 15-20 mins , and at 21:30h there is some amateurish/semipro dance performance on the stage, that is not worth your time tbh. But since there is not much else to do, u watch it... Also, there is not enough chairs in front of stage so you have to bring them yourself from the nearby mess hall, There is a luna park, which has classic entertainment, you pay 1 or 2 EUR depending on ride. Food at restourants is average to say the least, not very tasty, and almost same every night. All the good stuff is always gone, and u wait in lines for them to make more. Food quality is prolly the weakest side of this resort. Also the lack of bars and staff (u literally stand in line and wait for everything, often you just give up, You know where you can get icecream or waffles but u have to wait for like 10 min). Entire logistics appear to be for a hotel with less guests, it feels like they are overstreching everything. There was no ice tea for at least 6 days, ice cream was always only 2-3 flavors, scooped in tini-tiny cones. Water in refrigerators was not cold. It is this "little" things that make your stay less pleasant. To conclude, this resort is IMO overpriced and incorrectly rated. It is a 3-4 star tops resort (by Turkish standards), no way a 5 star. It has lake house area and water park that buffed it up, but it is not enough to grade entire place a 5 star. It has to improve many other things to be up to the 5* standards. (This was my 4th vacation in Turkish all inclusive resorts around Side area, and i can make, to a ceratain extent, comparation to their other resorts). Mostly becouse i stayed in a swim up family room in lakehouse area i would give overall satisfaction rating of 6.5/10. If i was in the main building it would prolly be lower. I would not recommend this resort, mostly for imbalanced money/value ratio, (in plain words - its overpriced)
