We recently stayed at the Primate Lodge in Kibale. It is conveniently located in the Kibale Park steps away from the start of the chimpanzee trek. The food is good, the staff are very kind, and the public spaces are comfortable. The biggest treat at the lodge is a stay in the tree house. Located 700 meters into the forest... More

The Primate Lodge is set in the Kibale National Park (or right next to it), so it is an ideal location if you will be chimp trekking. There are two types of lodgings: cottages and permanent tents. We stayed in the cottages which are stone construction set in a wooded area away from the lodge. They only have power between... More

We returned from an all-day chimp habituation to have our lodge say we had not booked the third night. Our driver and guide went to friends at Primate Lodge and the fit us in to one of the stone cottages. Perhaps 4 stars is more accurate, but our opinion is influenced by their kindness. We pulled in late--they acted as... More

Good location for the Chimp tracking. Kibale Forest is a must for birders. Get Gerald as a guide, he is No. 1. Not only found me the rare Green-breasted Pitta but a great photo for my collection. Comfortable tented accommodation. No.6 is quite a walk from the restaurant/bar. Good food but a very limited menu. Pleasant staff. A bit disorganised... More

My family loved the Primate Lodge. My husband and I traveled here with our 3 kids (14, 17, 20 yrs). It was great to be so close to the start of our Chimp Habitation Day. We stayed 2 nights at the Lodge. We reserved the treehouse along with a tent (slept 3 people). The treehouse was great and a highlight... More

Great staff. Private. Had a chimp walk right past our tent one evening. Our chimp treks were so fun. Chimps stayed mostly in the trees but it was still great. we did one regular trek and one full day of habituation. Also did swamp walk which was nice and allowed us to see 5 other primate species. You are in... More

Like most people, we stayed at the Primate Lodge to be close to the starting point of the chimp trek - we opted for the chimp habituation day rather than the 1 tour and were extremely happy we did, more on that in the official review. The lodge is in a great location since the UWA starting point is a... More

If you are chimp trekking in Kibale, this is within walking distance of the start point, so very convenient, though there are other lodges about a 10 minute drive away. You feel like you are really staying in the jungle - amazing sounds and a feeling of rainforest all around you. Staff are friendly and attentive. We were keen to... More

We stayed 1 night here, checking in the night before our Chimpanzee trek. We were checked in and shown to our room in an efficient and friendly manner. We stayed in a cottage, that was clean and comfortable with a good shower. Like most places we stayed at in Uganda, the power was limited to the evening and you need... More

Wonderful lodge for the traditional chimpanzee trekking (a couple of hours) or for the chimpanzee habituation project (up to 14 hours, including seeing the chimps de-nest in the morning). We did the chimpanzee habituation project trekk, and were able to hike right back to the lodge at the end. The property is lush, with a variety of monkeys and birds,... More

Primate Lodge Kibale Offers a range of options to accommodate all our guests. Our most recent addition, the brand new 9 luxury cottages of a superior design are bound to blow your heart away. Far more spacious and airy, with luxurious bathrooms, really huge glass windows and full size glass paneled sliding doors- they let in a lot of natural light and affording 180 degree views of the beautiful rainforest surroundings from your bed. Our seven mid-level forest cottages are en-suite with spacious bathrooms, 2x twin size beds or 1x king size bed, lounge chairs and a spacious verandah overlooking the rainforest. For our adventurous guests, we offer a secluded Sky Tree House (not self-contained) about 200m deep in the forest.
