Chez Providence Chambres et Table d'hôtes + Studio, near Carcassonne, is a B & B ( with dinner by reservation), it has 5 charming bedrooms with private bathrooms and a holiday studio / gite (a sun terrace and view of the woods) . Located in a typical medieval village of the Black Mountain in Cathar Country surrounded by unspoiled nature. The house was part of the ramparts dating from the 12th century and retains many original features; beams, exposed stones and parquet floors. Breakfast and dinner can be taken in the guest lounge / dining room or on the sun terrace overlooking the valley green and the river. We have secure parking for bicycles and 2/3 motorbikes. A good place from which to visit the historic Cathar countryside and Castles: Carcassonne, Lastours, Saissac and Hautpoul with its "sky-walk" and its pretty preserved Medieval village. Natural heritage with caves and many hiking trails in forests and around lakes, were you can swim or try an acrobranch, Europe's highest waterfall, quaint medieval villages, the national Parc du Haut Languedocl, a paper mill, the book & art village at Montolieu. Wine tasting in some of the many vineyards, visit the source of the Canal du Midi at Saint-Ferréol with is museum, lake and park . The towns of Carcassonne and Toulouse have museums and art galleries. In summer many villages hold fetes and markets (all year long) and car boot sales. From December to March there are weekend Truffle / produce markets and at Christmas Carcassonne holds La Magie de Noel, with Christmas stalls, ice skating and Father Christmas!

Best B & B ever. Nice rooms, decorated well. Breakfast - I gained weight this trip. Freshly baked croissants and baguettes. Great location. We met as a group who travels Europe every couple years. This was our best stay!!! We had one dinner in and it was a multiple course - and great. Thank you Christina.

We stayed here 2 nights in June with a couple of friends, traveling in France. The village Cuxac-Cabardès is a hidden gem itself, very authentic. Tucked away in a quiet street in the middle of the village there is Chez Providence which is a wonderful place to relax, and enjoy the hospitality of hosts Christina and Nico. The rooms are wonderfully decorated by Christina, every detail you thought you ever wished is provided, perfect overall. Their secluded garden is an ideal spot to unwind. Nico is a source of suggestions about what to do in the area. There is of course Carcassonne, but nearby there are so many more interesting and authentic places, he knows them all, and tells you the right directions;-). And then the meals are a treat itself, great breakfasts and very tasty ‘table d’hote’. We slept like babies, we definitely will be back! Monique and Rob

My Husband and I stayed for three nights in February, we had been here a few years before and we were delighted to find that it was still in the very capable hands of Christina .I can't say enough about this charming B&B and the warm, friendly hostess. Christina has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and memorable for all the right reasons. Our room was elegantly decorated (as is the rest of the house), warm and exceptionally cosy and immaculately clean with coffee making facilities which is very rare in French B&Bs but then again our whole room was full of thoughtful little touches that many other B&Bs don't bother with. Our mornings began with a scrumptious breakfast of croissants, pain au chocolat, wonderful breads, goats’ cheese & honey and yoghurt .( make sure you wake up hungry) We had also booked an evening meal and I can say that all her food was amazing and beautifully cooked and presented .Christina was also generous with her advice about outings and suggestions for places to visit. This place is a true gem and I cannot praise it highly enough. We loved staying with Christina and highly recommend Chez Providence. --

We only stayed one night before driving on into the Montagne Noir. We love travel when we can stay in places like this! It is unique. Christina took lots of time to talk to us even though she is very busy. She also fixed us a wonderful dinner as well as breakfast. The whole place is impeccably decorated. The Chinese room had so many nice touches for comfort as well as beauty. I get excited about a place to unpack and a box of Kleenex; we even had face cloths and a really good shower here. There are stairs involved both to get from where you park to Chez Providence, and then inside to all the rooms. It wasn't easy with luggage, but manageable as you can drop off luggage before parking. You will be very happy with what Christina has done with with these this very old house! I would give our stay an excellent 5 star rating, but others might have trouble with the stairs.

I stayed at Chez Providence with my grandparents and we couldn't have asked for kinder hosts or a nice place to stay. The room was lovely, spacious and with a nice bathroom. Our hosts were extremely accommodating after we booked the wrong room for my grandparents needs and moved us to one that was more easily accessible. The food was delicious, both at breakfast where we were served amazing homemade pastries and at dinner with a delicious 3-4 course meal, I highly recommend having at least one of your dinners there. The village is a true medieval french town and the house is part of the historic old city wall. Take it slowly driving there, the road is quite narrow with a lot of turns you can't see around but the experience is worth it! We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it to others.

Thank you we are delighted that you all enjoyed your stay with us. The mountain roads are narrow and we recommend that guest arrive on the D118 between Carcassonne and Mazamet, unfortunately if you follow the GPS direction it take you on the smaller roads! Christina

We spent 3 nights in July, with our 2 daughters, in the room called Rose. I would veru highly recommend this accomodation; it is near Carcassone but far away enough from the crowded Cité. Christine is really friendly and breakfast is delicious, thanks to Nico, with home made bread and croissants. We hope we will repeat our lovely stay next time!
