Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Myself and my friend who are both aged 26, booked a one week stay at Old Palace resort using TUI. We arrived around 8pm on a Monday night and were quickly signed in and shown to our twin room which was clean, spacious and filled with drinks and fresh fruit.
The hotel seemed safe as there is security checks at the main entrance however we did notice that it's possible to enter from the beach without the same precautions. The hotel was very picturesque and had the choice of three restaurants - however two are only available on specific days of the week and need to be booked in advance.
Entertainment from the animation team and the cobra specialist was great, as there isn't much to do nearby in the evenings without getting a taxi. I'd like to specially mention Kaptshy for being friendly and informative about the local surroundings and culture.
Despite booking our holiday as all inclusive, the hotel had limitations on what's included and the times the bar is free. We also noticed that only Mohammad in the main restaurant offered to bring us drinks during our meals (not sure if he was the only English speaker?).
The receptionist were also great as we were able to book packed lunches in advance for days when we went on excursions and they provided extra blankets and an iron as needed.
Overall Old Palace is a decent hotel that's relatively safe and close to a small village within the gated area of Sahl Hasheesh, making it easy to get to a supermarket or use an ATM. Most of the guests were middle aged but as younger people we still found activities suited to us, like the spa and beach.
I'd recommend being prepared to be stopped by shop owners who work at the resort and not being afraid to haggle prices.

I will start the review by saying that I had a great holiday at Old Palace Resort.
It was my first vacation in Egypt and I will definitely go back as soon as possible.
The hotel is very big and beautiful. It has a wonderful beach, with sand and smooth entrance in the beautiful Red Sea. Also the pool is very big and clean, the water was quite cold considering it is April, but suitable for the heat from the noon and certainly for summer it is necessary.
In terms of restaurants and bars, the staff was very nice and friendly, I made a lot of friends and the service was impeccable. At the restaurant I found a lot of food, diverse for all tastes and very delicious. Every day the restaurant had a theme and I was able to eat different dishes every day. Also A La Carte restaurants must be visited at least once each one (Italian & Brazilian). Here the food was very good and could not be found at the main restaurant even though the chefs were the same.
The rooms were spacious and cleaned every day. The view from the rooms can be booked or arranged when you arrive at the hotel because there is the possibility to upgrade the size or the view directly there. The only thing to know in advance is that the furniture in the rooms is old style, as the name of the hotel says, so if you want something luxurious and modern do not choose this hotel. I was not so interested in the room because I went on vacation to visit, to have fun and stay on the beach enjoying the sea. The bathroom could be a little tidier and cleaner, and those old tubs could at least be rehabilitated. But anyways, the Hotel is looking so much beautiful in reality than in photos.
The area around the hotel is mostly desert, but there is a long and beautiful alley where you can walk and rent golf carts, there is also a fountain market near the hotel not to be missed.
You can buy a lot of trips and other services either from the hotel or from the travel agency.
In terms of entertainment, the animation team is great. I met a lot of people, I made friends and made connections, socialized a lot and had a lot of fun. They are very active and friendly, most of the activities take place on the beach. The activities on the beach are more fun and interesting than the others from the night show cause on the beach, the hotel guests were also involved in all the activities. The music was very good, the evening shows were beautiful, I danced a lot, I even learned a few steps of bachata in one of the activities. Everyone was friendly and nice, I already miss all the people I met, I kept in touch with many of them even after I left. I think that mostly, my vacation was so good because of all those people I met there. If you wanna see their activities you can find them on Instagram as @oldpalace.entertainment
So, in conclusion, I had a wonderful vacation that passed too quickly and I will definitely return to Egypt and even to the Old Palace Resort.

We stayed here for 1 week end of January all inclusive. Me and my husband just wanted to get away for some sun and to relax and unwind. This was our 2nd visit to this hotel which was about 4 years ago and wasn’t great. But we thought we would give it another try. We are glad we did we had booked a pool vie but was given a sea vie on check in. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and tidy but had a put you up bed in the room which was taking up too much room plus two beds not a king. I spoke to reception in the morning to ask if the extra bed could be removed and before I could ask about the two beds the guy said he would get house keeping to get a mattress to make the bed a king size bed. Which was all done while we was relaxing on the beach. Plenty bottles of water in the room along with tea and coffee making facility. View from our balcony was lovely. The food was good and staff seemed a lot more happier and attentive then our last stay. We spent our days on the beach which was kept tidy by the beach staff. The bar staff on the beach were great we didn’t even have to ask for drinks as they would magically appear. Give these guys a tip it really is worth it. Our room was kept clean and tidy the only thing I would say is the bathroom really needs updating but was clean and clean towels when needed. Me and my husband really enjoyed our stay it was exactly what we needed. We would return. One tip though check to see when locals have their holidays as the hotel can become very busy. The entertainment team do go round trying to get people to try things but are not pushy. Also you do get the guys going round selling spa treatments. Just a pleasant no thank you and they leave you alone. You can get a red flag to hang up to indicate you don’t want to be disturbed. We didn’t bother Also would like to say thank you to Victoria on guest relations desk. Very pleasant and always happy to help or just have a chat. One thing with this part of Sahl Hasheesh is the lovely sandy beach 🏖 which gently leads down into the clear waters of the Red Sea.

Actually, I visited many hotels in Hurgada and Dahab but really this hotel is overrated. It doesn't deserve 8 at all . I think it shouldn't exceed 7 by all means . First , the staff in this hotel is really rude especially the man on the front desk. His name is Ahmed. We spent more than an hour and half just to check in It ends up with receiving our rooms at 3 pm . Then he asked us and insisted on paying the whole amount of money of our stay . Although he has the credit card number and they already hold the money for the first night from each room . We paid the whole amount of our stay on the first day as requested. At the end of our stay we asked for a late check out as we already had a late check in . He refused claiming that no availability for that and he just agreed on giving us extra 30 minutes . So we should check out at 12:30 instead of 12 . That's wasn't enough for them to let us feel really bad but they asked us to give them the green bracelets back before leaving . That was my experience . If i am going to speak in general about the hotel i will say that the food was delicious especially the dinner, a lot of variety and good quality. The beach was nice and clean . For the heated pool it wasn't warm enough and it is very small . The jacuzzi tub was warm but it doesn't relate to jacuzzi. Just a warm tub with few pumps. Animation team was very boring . No aqua park or activities for children, so if you have kids it will be very boring for them. The free internet was very weak and avaliable only in the reception area. For the rooms , The garden view rooms have a very small garden as a view. My room 1359 was facing a building and a very small graden. The Bed was very hard . It wasn't comfortable. The staff weren't friendly except the housekeepers and the those who are responsible for the towels. Finally if you want to visit sahl hashesh there are many hotels better and higher than this one with paying only 100 or 150 more dollars. It is worthy to pay a little bit more in a place that deserves rather than paying less in an overrated place.

The hotel is located in sahl hasheesh with a sandy beach and a beautiful aquamarine water with no pebbles and no mud grounds.
The dinner buffet is exquisite with everyday a new variety of delicious food. This included ducks and charcoal grilled quails and chicken ... amazing. This is best hotel cuisine we have ever experienced.
The room is spacious and spotless clean and all in white and wood colors with wooden floor and all new bathrooms. Comfy beds with cotton white lining. The room included even an iron board, a hair dryer, a kettle and a good refrigerator.
The hotel staff are extremely helpful and friendly and professional. Our motorcycle group (Alex Road Eagles) travels around Egypt all year round and actually we have never experienced a faster check in process than in Old Palace Resort.
A special thanks go to Mr. Aldo Stinchetti, the Italian Consul and the General Manager who reserved some of his precious time to welcome us and take a group photo with our group.

we had a lovely time here check in was smooth lovely room overlooking the gardens and fountains. food was excellent everyday, staff in restaurant really nice all the chefs nice to see them out and about in the restaurant speaking to guests, always fresh fruit which was cut up while you waited lovely touch, BBQ a couple of times a week and on the beach too, the whole staff here were brilliant from the reception , bar staff at all the bars special mention to the beach staff bar who brought drinks all day to our sunbeds the animation staff were very good although i didn't join in anything i was being really lazy this time they were excellent and the shows on the beach and at night were very good
the cleaning staff were very good always left everything spotless and made sure we always had water tea/coffee etc
we booked this the week before we flew out it was a really good choice i wouldn't hesitate to go back and give it 5 star plus recommendation
there is a lovely promenade to walk on and a small harbour to look at just nice to walk somewhere as lots of the resorts in Egypt are out on their own and this is quite a small resort but big enough for us, nice and quiet at the time. we had a trip to the Hurghada marina we used the taxi in the hotel as a return trip £20 he drops you at a local shop where you have to go in to get the return journey just be warned !!!

We had a lovely stay in this hotel for 5 days. It was quiet and very relaxing but then a lot of noisy families arrived for the last 2 days. Apparently it is the local school holidays the last 2 weeks of January in this area. The children were running round screaming in reception, the lounges and the restaurant during meal times. There was a very noisy family in the room above us making a noise till 3am one night and when we tried to read our books on our balcony before dinner one evening we had to go in and close the patio doors to keep the noise out from the balcony above. There is nothing for kids to do here so it's not their fault. Of course they will be bored so I don't understand why their parents bring them here when there are other hotels nearby with water slides and kids clubs. That said, our first 5 days here were great. Quiet and relaxing. Food was nice. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Beach and pool area were nice. Evening entertainment not very good but is it ever?

Arrived Christmas Eve. If you book through TUI, you will have a ground floor room. If you can upgrade your room from the basic one DO IT. Christmas music was unbearable by the time we left, it was playing 24/7.
Rooms: Beds are like rocks and therefore a really uncomfortable sleep. Bathroom is are tired and in need of updating like the rest of the room. Bathrooms have dirty shower curtains that smell over the bath. The locks on the door to the patio are tedious, not straightforward to use them. Towels do not fit round the average adult. I was so disappointed with the bedroom that we had, really not the luxury that we were expecting. It’s on par with a premier inn room.
Meals: Made to book a table for a set evening meal which was very disappointing on Christmas Eve. The meals in the restaurant in the evening are okay, the staff are friendly and we managed to find something to eat for everyone every night. Breakfast was also good, the pastries do taste a little stale.
Bars: The lobby bar was brilliant and I can’t fault the staff. When doing all inclusive it states that there’s snacks at the bars but in reality they are the left over pastries from breakfast and they are only available from the pool side bar. They also don’t have all the ice cream choices available everyday, they have set flavours each day. There is only a bbq at the beach on set days too.
Evening entertainment: the singer was brilliant. The other entertainment wasn’t the best. Dancers out of time etc. The entertainment team during the day are lovely and they try their best to get everyone involved.
Pools: All pools are cold. One of them is slightly heated but just warmed cold haha. Not one of us enjoyed the pool because they were so cold.
Surrounding area: There’s a couple of shops near by but nothing like the description that you can see. If you want to go outside if the resort download Uber as they are way cheaper than the hotel taxi & the taxi they suggest. Next to the hotel there is a common area that it lit up in the evening with water fountains etc, very nice. You can rent golf carts near the beach and drive along the prom, ver recommended.
Staff: The staff were absolutely brilliant. You can’t fault them.

This hotel in the Sahl Hasheesh area is smaller and has an almost family atmosphere. The rooms are equipped with older furniture, but it is always perfectly tidy. The sea is crystal clear, sandy beach with a gradual entry into the water. The beach service will bring you towels and help you choose a sun lounger and they are willing and helpful in everything. The animation team - Fox, Valerie, Jo, Hannah and others take perfect care of the fun and are very friendly and creative. This hotel offers delicious food that is perfectly flavored. The staff at the restaurant is very helpful and attentive.

We waited for over 2 years for our 3rd visit to this wonderful, wonderful hotel. The room that we were allocated was not suitable, as I needed a walk in shower. However, the hotel immediately gave us an upgrade to a chalet, at no extra cost, which was fantastic. The grounds around the hotel complex were just perfect as I could use my mobility scooter with ease, so would definitely recommend this hotel if you have mobility issues. Our stay was made extra special, by all the staff who went above and beyond to cater for our needs. Chef Mahmoud in the main restaurant was so attentive and brought my meals to the table every night, which was beautifully presented and delicious. A few times Chef made us some lighter meals, which were again truly delicious. And if you're a soup dragon, like my hubby, then you won't be disappointed, as Chef and his team made some very tasty soups. We stayed for 18 days and never tired of the excellent food that Chef and his team produced. You'd be hard pushed not to find anything you like to eat. So thank you Mahmoud and the team for looking after us. Another call out is to our adopted son Mahmoud from the beach bar. He really looked after us not only at the beach bar, but also the pool and lobby bar. The lobby bar staff were just brilliant who delivered many, many coffees to us during the day. The team here were just fantastic, making us feel very special. Our room boy was great and couldn't do enough for us. We came back to the room some days, to see he had made beautiful swans, hearts, birds and even a turtle from towels and flowers, which filled the room with lovely fragrances. The animation team were very friendly and great. But was disappointed that we couldn't watch most of the shows as they were downstairs in the disco, which was not possible for me to get down/up the stairs. However the dances that we saw at the beach and in the lobby were truly amazing. The dancers were so professional. All the staff are certainly an asset to hotel, from the gardeners right up to the team leaders and managers. They all certainly made our stay. Thank you all for looking after us.
