We were lucky to stay in this excellent Auberge. We were in the 1888 room which was very charming with a terrific view of the waterfront. It had its own bathroom (one floor down) with a large jacuzzi tub and shower, which was perfect for a warm soak after a day of whale watching. The hostess was charming and provided lots of helpful local tips. We had the breakfast both mornings and it was delicious. My spouse said it probably his favourite place that we have visited in some time. We hope to be back.
Our room was quite small and the plumbing made a bit of a gurgling noise when other people ran the water. However, the location was exceptional - just a short walk to all the places you want to go, bakers, restaurants and most importantly, whale watching. Marie-Josee made our stay very pleasant and was very helpful storing our ice blocks etc. When we booked the Auberge she contacted us by e-mail to see if we wanted to book any activities. We asked her to book whale watching twice and the bear watching too. This all worked out perfectly. We were made very welcome and had the use of the dining area overlooking the fiord. Lovely picture windows gave a stunning view and the book of Canadian Birds was most useful. We were always welcomed back to the property and asked how our trip or day had gone. We didn't have the breakfast as I have an egg allergy and it was egg based, but it looked good and smelt amazing!…
This auberge was the worst value of 20 places we have stayed in throughout the maritime provinces over the past month. The room and hostess were pleasant enough. But we learned only after paying that our bathroom was separated by stairs from the room. We booked late on the same day only to learn that buying a not included breakfast was not an option due to late booking even though the property has B and B written on its facade. The bathtub jacuzzi switch did not work. The advertised waterview looked out of a narrow porthole like window at a dilapidated parking lot and a small piece of water. I was happy to leave early this morning.
We had the room with a double and a queen bed and it was very comfortable. But the best of all was the outstanding hospitality provided to us by the owners Marie-Josee and her husband. Marie-Josee spent time with us to describe the whale watching tours available plus the local sights and walks, restaurants, etc.
Enjoyed chatting with owners Marie Josee and Ken, hearing about their sailing experiences. Breakfast was quite good, and we got to choose the time we ate. Room a bit small, but do-able. We had a private bath. Our room also gave us a great view of the river and the fjords. There are nice outside sitting areas, but it was too cold and rainy for us to take advantage of them. Owing to the smallish room, we spent time in the public dining and sitting areas, which were quite warm and cozy. Location is great, just a short hop into the town.
