Detailed Reviews
My partner and I stayed here November 8 - 11, 2008 after a lengthy drive from Nova Scotia. The bags were unloaded before I could check in. The staff were incredible. Go to the website. Look at the rooms. Then stay at the hotel. The rooms are exactly as pictured. The nicest room we have ever stayed in. The shower is to die for.
The breakfast is included in your price. And not just a continental breakfast but a full hot breakfast (bacon and eggs, ham, sausage, french toast, ham and cheese croissants, homemade jams, orange juice, fruit, you name it, you'll get it).
Claude and his staff (especially Danny) will go out of their way to help. Ask them where to eat, they will tell you. And make sure you listen, you will not be disappointed. Ask them what to see, they will map you out a walking tour.
Need an umbrella, they will give you one.
Want a movie for your room, they will give you one from their library. Ask for anything within reason and they will go out of their way to accomodate you.
Parking is across the street and underground, all very convenient.
This is a true 4 star inn.
My partner and I can only say thank you for making it a most memorable long weekend. Make sure you eat at Ciccio's.

We selected this place based on the great reviews in tripadvisor. It's a lovely little place. The room we stayed in is small, but very nicely laid out. Great location, within walking distance of the old town. The staff were all friendly. The owner considered that we have 2 kids, and advised us accordingly on how we could plan our day. Great breakfast. In short, lovely place. Will be our first choice location when we revisit Quebec City.

We spent five wonderful nights in this outstanding little hotel. Claude & his staff provided excellent service. His restaurant tips and trip planning ideas were terrific. We stayed in a King room, it was absolutely spotless with a very comfortable bed and flat screen TV. The washroom has a large walk-in shower with good water pressure and lots of hot water. There's an easy chair plus a desk with an additional chair.
Breakfasts are not to be missed, they are delicious: your choice of crepes, french toast, bagels & smoked salmon or eggs. All served with fresh fruit, homemade apple butter/jam, croissants, juice, coffee, tea or cafe latte.
The hotel is outside the old city wall but within easy walking distance to all the major attractions and great restaurants. Zonorange restaurant is next door and Ciccios for the best Italian cuisine is nearby.
We can hardly wait to come back to Quebec City next year and stay at the Auberge Le Vincent.

Hi all, I was planning on a trip for Québec City end of September, and for personal reasons, we had to cancel our trip. I had a reservation at Auberge Le Vincent that we did a couples week ago. As soon, as I learn about our new plans, I called them to cancel our reservation. The person at the service that night, had a funny tone, sarcastic kind of, he seem really sure of himself. He told me I would have to pay a penalty of 25$! I explain that the person I spoke too when I did my reservation told me about this penalty, but that It would apply only if it was within 48hrs! No, it's me who didn't understood well! So, he charged me the 25$!! So for 25$ he just lost a customer. Im sure it's a really nice place, but hopefully you won't changed your mind otherwise prepare an extra 25$! T

We were very excited to stay at le Vincent after seeing all of the wonderful reviews on trip advisor, however, after walking the city and comparing some other locations, I did feel like the price was high for the value of the stay. Bear in mind however that we only stayed one night, so perhaps the value of the hosts knowledge of the city was lost on us.
To that point, the dinner recommendation just didn't wow us at all - there was no ambiance in the restaurant we were sent to and the menu was very limited. I had asked "If we have just one dinner to spend in Quebec City, where should we go?" - where we wound up was definitely not a "thank goodness" location. Additionally, we were really disappointed the next morning, when waiting at the counter to retrieve some items from our car, to learn that there is a free cirque de soleil parade every night in the city, we would have loved to have seen that but the host knew that we were in our room with a DVD of all things (terrible rain).
The location of the inn is just okay. The "nouvelle st. roche" is trying to be something, but it isn't much yet. Yes Benjo is there and it's a toystore not to be missed if you have children in your life, but aside from that, there just isn't much going on there, and if you want to be there anyhow, it looks like the Hotel Pur has comparable rooms for $100 less per night.
The pros of this location: the room was *very* comfortable (we stayed in room 5), fairly quiet, and extremely clean. The inn feels trendy and hip, the artwork is interesting and you feel like you are in a unique and special spot that not a lot of people will get to experience if only because there are only 10 rooms.
The shower I felt could be improved - after all of the walking (we're pretty athletic, but everything is uphill from here! ;) ), a massage shower or even better a tub with jets in the same space would be much more valuable than the opportunity to have your partner watch you showering.
Yes breakfast is served with a smile and it's a full breakfast, but not worth all of the upsell it gets, certainly not worth $100. Beautifully served and tasty and enjoyable, but not a large breakfast by any means. In fact at the table next to us one young customer misunderstood the waitstaff and asked for "eggs with bacon and sausage" and was told "oh no, you must choose bacon OR sausage because we may run out if a lot of people order that" - there's a simple solution to this, order more than enough and use a refrigerator, meat will keep a day, even more if you have a freezer.
There was an espresso maker in the room, but we were surprised to find a charge of $2 per cup attached. After paying this kind of money for a simple room in a just okay location that just seemed a bit much.
Wireless worked wonderfully, the bathrobes were very nice. The TV was very small but at least was mounted on a flexible arm so could be angled toward the bed - there was no sitting area so the bed was it.
Overall I was not "upset" about our stay, but I guess my expectations were out of whack for the price tag vs. the location and amenities. If we go back, I will try a different hotel, and probably wouldn't send friends here unless the prices came down.

Sadly this small cameo hotel lives on its former glory. It is now shabby and disappointing, in desperate need of care and attention. We have stayed at this well located hotel several times over the last few years and are very sorry to see it decline.
From our last stay I can only rank the hotel as poor. The list of issues is extensive.
The first room we were offered had an appalling drain like, musty smell. He room also had an “ensuite” shower located physically in the bedroom. Is this what one would call hip? The second room, an “upgrade” was better but the odour was still there. Apparently an unsolved problem with the use of exposed brickwork. The sink was cracked, The shower thermostat valve was broken, water temperature unstable, generally cold.
The room was shabby, marks on the walls, paintwork. It was not “air conditioned” but it did have a cooler. Opening the windows let in excessive traffic noise, thus no ventilation, no way of removing the smell. The room was shabby, the lumpy pillows had seen better days. Some of the lights, light switches, didn't work. Even the toilet seat had a mind of its own.
The towels were frayed, old and of poor quality. The fridge was noisy, everything was well past its best before date. Even the shampoo/shower gel dispensers were incorrectly labelled. The WLAN produced a speed reading of 0.2 MBPS, useless.
Breakfast was OK. But again poor quality plastic containers of jam, marmalade, butter. Machine bread, horrible croissants. I have suggested several times to the manager that they go and buy fresh bread every morning from the excellent artisan bakers less that 500m from the hotel. This last visit I had already been to the boulangerie for my fresh bread.
I would suggest avoiding this hotel until there is evidence that the owner is giving it some loving care and a desperately needed makeover.

Our room had a double bed and stayed upstairs. We were there for 2 nights. Our experience at the hotel has been positive. The reviews left by other travelers have already made great points and shared the good and bad. Based on our experience, we can summarize like this:
Pros:
1. Very friendly and polite owner who really make the stay comfortable
2. Absolutely fantastic breakfast to start the day. Try french toast and regular continental breakfast (2 eggs, potato, bacon, and home made spread).
3. New/Updated rain shower
4. Nicely decorated room with exposed brick walls
5. Parking is next door (indoor) and safe (had to pay $15 per day, separately)
6. A lot of walk to the old city but walking on Rue. St Jean was just memorable and fun.
7. Definitely in the local and there are good restaurants near by on Rue. St Jean, St Roch, and St. Joseph.
Cons:
1. Too far from the old town. It's fine in the morning when heading to the town. When coming back at night and you are tired, that 15 - 20 min walk seems awfully long.
2. Price is a bit expensive for a hotel that is not near the old city. We paid $250 per night for a room + parking + breakfast + tax.
3. Room smells a bit old/damp
We liked the hotel; it is a nice hotel and fantastic owner who would serve with lots of care. Again, the downside is that it is far from the old city and if walking becomes too much, perhaps choosing one close to the city is more beneficial.

We stayed here in June for 3 nights and it turned out to be the best hotel of the whole trip. The room (no 6) was large, spotlessly clean & very well equipped (TV, DVD player, air con, fridge, coffee machine etc). The staff were all extremely helpful and recommended restaurants and bars plus things to see & do during our short visit. The breakfast was very good too!
Just one thing to mention - the hotel is situated on a busy road & there is a lot of traffic noise, but it does ease of later in the evening.

The hotel was very nice. The staff was extremely hospitable and the rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. There are many well-reviewed restaurants just a few blocks away. The walk to Old Town is pretty hilly at the beginning of the walk, as other reviewers have mentioned. There are stairs about a block from the hotel that is probably the fastest way up the hill.
The thing, for me, that set apart this hotel from others is the made-to-order breakfast that is included with the stay.
Stayed in Room 5.

I stayed with my girlfriend in room 4, one of the two most expensive rooms. We both loved the room, as it was very large, well-designed with lots of unique character, and with a beautiful shower with multiple giant shower heads.
The part of the hotel that really puts this over the top is the amazing service. We arrived to a very friendly Gil who waited for us to arrive well after the front desk was supposed to close. The following three days, GIl and the rest of the staff helped us find first-rate restaurants that weren't well documented on sites like Yelp and Trip advisor, but adored by Quebec City residents (such as Patante et Machin).
Hard to imagine a better hotel experience- much more like staying with a very knowledgeable friend who happens to have an amazing guest room.
