Comfortable room, great breakfasts. The location is perfect- in the “old city”, a block from the Hotel Frontenac and great shopping and restaurants. Our hostess, Veronique, is a gem - very friendly, helpful, and truly endearing. Get her to talk about herself; she is a very interesting woman. We hated to leave!
My boyfriend and I had a lovely 5 nights at La Marquise de Bassano. The bed was very comfortable, the room was lovely, the new bathroom was amazing, the location was perfect, the breakfast was filling, the price was very reasonable and the hospitality was superb! Who knows what’s in store with all the restrictions with Covid, but we would certainly love to come back next year. We wish Francis and Veronica all the best. Marie & Rene
I loved my stay at the Marquise de Bassano - it is walking distance to everything, and the building and facilities are just what you want to be in when staying in old Quebec. The hosts were the most memorable part of the trip. Francis joined me for a beer on the front bench upon arrival, the breakfasts each morning were delicious and there were no issues at all with the facilities. Even the shared bathroom was a non-issue. I received lots of suggestions on things to see and do, and there is not a bad thing to say about anything! Once you are here, you can park your car and leave it that way until you leave. Such a great experience and would stay here in a heartbeat when back in Quebec.
We loved how graciously we were welcomed by Francis and felt very much part of the family atmosphere. Our room was to dream for with a 4 poster bed and clawfooted bathtub. The location was perfect just around the corner from the Chateau.
This charming b&b is right in the heart of Old Quebec, so no car is required. The hosts are absolutely lovely, bilingual, and make terrific croissants! My room had a shared bathroom on the floor, and an air conditioner. I loved hearing the horses and carriage go by, and seeing all the flowers outside my window. I will definitely be returning to this b&b!
This very private location in the middle of the old city is romantic, cozy and a perfect escape anytime of year. The breakfast alone is worth a visit. The selection of morning delights are varied, very fresh and imaginative. I suspect you could sit at the comfy table all day and take pleasure in the gourmet selections that keep making their way to the dining area. Let's not forget the rooms. There are several rooms to chose from, all very different and visible on their website. Pick what suits you, however if you are in Old Quebec you will not spend much time in your room. The Host and Hostess, who may want to remain anonymous in this review, are very congenial and know how to be warm and helpful, while honoring your independence as a guest. A tricky balance for any experienced inn keeper. Our new favorite place in a city that has lots to chose from.…
My husband and I stayed in the Library room during our recent weekend in Quebec City. We absolutely loved everything about our stay! The room was exactly as the pictures depicted, and each room was different. (Anik gave us a little tour before we checked out.) We are looking forward to returning to stay in the Dovecote room, which has a door that opens to the balcony! Breakfast both mornings was extremely pleasant- the fresh baked croissants were flaky and delicious! Both Francis and Anik went out of their way to engage us in conversation and teach us about the history of the house and the city. We would have happily spend another week here just to have more interesting conversations with them! Our friends stayed in the Chateau Frontenac, which was also nice, but we felt those rooms lacked the coziness and old-world appeal of the B&B here. We plan to return for another visit, and will definitely look to stay here again! Thank you so much for everything!…
This B&B is a gem within the already bright and shiny crown of Old Quebec. Seriously- you need to get to Quebec right away and stay here. The Marquise de Bassano is a home away from away home. Innkeepers Francis and Anik warmly welcomed me and my group of seven middle schoolers. The decor is cozy with many artistic and unique choices. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The rooms on the 3rd floor do share a bathroom, but this was not an issue for us. Plus the shower in this bathroom is a stress relieving rain shower. Another stress reliever is the amazing breakfast that Anik sets every morning. She greeted me with a smile and a cup of coffee, but it was the smell of the fresh croissants that brought me to the table. Other breakfast choices included fresh fruits, egg, tomatoes and cucumbers, sliced ham and cheese. Different mornings Anik served chocolate muffins, cheesy croissants, quiche and blueberry bread pudding. Cereal and toast were always available for breakfast, but I can have those when I get home- hand me a croissant! The B&B is conveniently located to shops, restaurants and museums. Francis and Anik are a great resource for places to go and for stories of Quebec. Take a quick flight and head north to a bit of the Old World in North America. Be sure to book a stay at La Marquise de Bassano to complete the magic.…
Everything perfect. Staying in this bnb was one of the best experience I and my girlfriend have ever had. Francis, his wife and Veronyc were so kind and helpful all the time. The place is a peace of Francis family history, the roons and bathroom are very clean and perfect.
I stayed at this lovely B&B for a girls weekend near the end of November. The atmosphere was fabulous and oh so welcoming! Veronique was a friendly and gracious hostess for the 12 girls in our group. She had great suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. The location is perfect for seeing everything in the city on foot. The beds were comfortable and the food was amazing!! I would definitely stay here again and I have no hesitation in recommending it for everyone who is visiting Le Vieux-Quebec.
