As other reviewers have noted, staying at Mary's La California leaves you feeling as if this is your home away from home. Mary, the proprietress, knows almost everything about the area. She is a wealth of information and easily switches from speaking French to speaking English in case you don't feel fluent. I prefer the bedroom overlooking the backyard but...

Mary who owns the place is an awesome host and very resourceful! She has the most awesome breakfast and the most amazing stories to tell for those who want to sit and chat! Rooms are nice and well kept! Nice quite location but a bit away from downtown! Quite ok if you have a car! But Mary is the best...

What a brilliant bi-lingual B and B! Comfortable room in a superb house in a leafy residential neighbourhood with excellent bus links into the city (3.25 flat rate - take change). Mary shares her home, her heart and her heir with house guests. She is a national treasure to rival Anne of Green Gables! The musical is eagerly awaited. Fresh...

We made a last minute reservation at La California after not being able to get a room in a hostel during peak tourist season in Quebec, and we were very happy with our choice! Mary is definitely the hostess with the mostest! Welcoming, great advice for tourists, beautiful b&b, yummy breakfast, good location... what more could one ask for? We...

La California is located in one of the best neighborhoods of Quebec City: a leafy quiet location with squirrels climbing up trees and birds singing in the morning. The house is beautiful, warm and welcoming, Mary (the owner) is extremely nice and a great person to talk to. Room was immaculate, bed very confortable. And last but by no means...

Nice owner, beautiful house, calm street, wifi, great breakfast with cheese, eggs, cereals, maple syrup, etc...What more can a person ask? Ah, clean rooms with wooden floor too! I´m very allergic, so I always choose rooms without carpets and this one was perfect. We payed CAD 103 for a double room with bathroom (the bathroom was in the corridor, but...
