We travel quite a bit and it is getting harder to be impressed. This hotel, however, was very impressive! We loved everything about it. The hotel is so charming and the attention to detail in both the hotel itself and the service was incredible. Loved the little boxes of stones outside each room to leave your wet boots on. The bar and lobby were lovely and and Chez Muffy restaurant was adorable. The rooms were gorgeous. We stayed in a King Luxe for two nights and it was one of the nicest rooms we have stayed in. Bathroom was huge and the floors were heated for us every night when we came back in from the January cold. We then moved to a suite and had dinner under the stars in our own little glass house on the terrace. Simply perfect. The location is also ideal - walking distance to everything you want to see and do. The best part though is the staff. Everyone was so friendly and eager to help. They somehow managed to anticipate what you wanted/needed before you even asked. Small things like at breakfast, when my husband forgot to get a spoon at the yogurt bar. Before he even sat back down and realized he forgot it, the manager was over delivering a spoon. The front desk, valet and bell services were equally attentive and super nice. Everything about this hotel down to the monogrammed ice cubes at Artefact bar, the little timer for steeping your tea and the cookies they give you on departure was just flawless. We will absolutely be back.…
We absolutely just loved this hotel, and it takes a lot for me to say that. My husband booked through Amex and we were kindly upgraded to a suite room which was just lovely and had a lot of character. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large and well done with heated floors. All of the staff we encountered were just lovely and helpful. One gentlemen, I think named Enrique or Rick, even helped us get into a nearby restaurant, Il Matto, that was booked for the night by walking across and asking the restaurant for a favor. All just because he overheard another staff member calling to see if we could get in. I mean truly the most genuinely nice gesture, as he wasn’t looking for anything but to help make our night. We also found the location of the hotel to be perfect for our first time in the city. It was in the lower part of old town/historical center with ample restaurants, antiquing shops and stores. Just a short walk through cute streets to the Funicular to head up to the upper part. Breakfast was great, the drinks at the bar were good for a night cap, and I really enjoyed the gym facility as well. This is for sure where we will stay whenever we are back in Quebec City.…
We stayed for a long weekend and had a wonderful time in Quebec City based at this really good hotel. The room, the service, the food were all very good and the hotel is ideally placed for easy access to the old city. The also have a spa which we visited and that was also very good and relaxing. Overall a really great hotel. We used some AMEX points to book and they honored the AMEX perks happily. Would definitely go back. One bit of feedback would be to pick some more original music for the bar area
I am perplexed by the consecutive 5-star reviews for this hotel. This is aside from the unique circumstances during our stay. Perhaps take this review with a grain of salt, as we did spend a night at the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac prior to our stay here at the Auberge. The first 5 minutes of our 2-day stay involved a rude staff member that denied me and my wife entry to the lounge to get a cup of hot chocolate while our room was still getting ready, insisting that the dining area consisting of 6 patrons was fully reserved. This pretty much teed off two days of disappointment and frustration. During our stay the power was limited to non-existent. This was quite the surprise as we had just checked out from the Fairmont and experienced absolutely no disruption. Initially when we checked in some amenities were partially functional. A few hours later – no hot water, no hot showers, no heater, no working outlets to charge our phones, no working elevators, pitch black in our room, pitch black walking down a long flight of stairs to once again confront the front desk when we could not sleep due to alarms going off in our room past midnight. “I don’t hear anything” she said, as if to gaslight us into thinking we’re the odd ones for making a complaint, right on cue with the constant redirection and unapologetic response we received from staff every time we asked for an update. The next day, we intentionally stayed out as long as we could to avoid the lousy experience we were having at the hotel. We called in early evening to get a status update and the power was still not back and we were advised not to come back. When we returned to the hotel later that night, it was eerily quiet. As we were passing by the front desk I facetiously made a comment that all the hotel guests must’ve been fed up and left. Apparently, the hotel was indeed empty - the hotel began evacuating guests to the Fairmont earlier in the afternoon. Awesome, but why were we the last ones to find out? Why were we not notified earlier? What if I had not stopped by the front desk? We were transferred to the Fairmont hotel so late that all we could do was take a long overdue hot shower and head to bed early for an early flight the next morning. When we checked out the next day, we assumed we would not have to pay given that we had already paid for two nights at the Auberge. To our surprise, we ended up having to pay. I called the Auberge to ask for clarification, and while they did clarify there would be a reimbursement, that call ended up with someone hanging up on me. As someone who has had many experiences in retail and customer service, I try my best to be patient and understanding knowing that it’s not easy in the service industry, particularly in difficult circumstances. However, what disappoints me the most is the poor response and attitude from staff and the lack of communication. The responses would always be so vague and unapologetic. We never knew what was going on. We were always kept in the dark, metaphorically and literally. Their response to power being out was free hot chocolate and coffee in the lobby. At some point I even felt guilty about asking if the power was back on. I know we were not alone in our sentiment, as we had sympathized with several neighbors/guests during our stay there who had experienced just the same, including one party just checking in that crashed their car in the parking garage due to low visibility and no attendants. After multiple conversations with American Express and the hotel management, we did receive a refund for one night of our two-night stay. It would’ve been nice if hotel management had transferred us earlier to the Fairmont so that we could actually enjoy what we paid for. My experience here has shown me that there is a clear difference between a 4-star and 5-star hotel; given that this hotel is similar in price to the Fairmont, I don’t see why you wouldn’t just stay there. Room and location aside, this in my opinion feels more like a 3-star hotel. Experience aside, I do like the rooms itself, particularly the modern and clean look, along with the hardwood floors. The lobby of the hotel leaves much to be desired, particularly when you compare it to the Fairmont, but the restaurant attached is beautifully cozy. The orange juice was quite memorable. I suppose that was the favorite part of my stay here, the orange juice. To the staff member that drove us to the hotel – thank you for all your hard work, for being so real and kind to us during the transition. If everyone else treated us with the same honesty and respect in light of the circumstance the rating would not be this low. TLDR: No electricity for two days, no hot water/showers, alarms going off, lack of communication from the hotel, poor response from staff. Stay at the Fairmont, your experience in whole will be so much more enjoyable and memorable.…
Great 👍 location very nice friendly staff Cheerful lobby Pleasant room with views of courtyard.nicely decorated.muggy restaurant was nice with welcoming staff good food 🥘 but on the expensive side. Very pleasant decor. Would visit again
Loved our second stay at Saint-Antoine just as much as the first. The location - the lower part is easy to get to and close to everything - across the street from the river near the bike path you can walk or ride all along the water; and just a couple of blocks from the main area of the lower village. The hotel is beautiful - that character blend of old stones that have been modernly finished. The rooms and common areas are comfortable, well appointed and spacious. The stars of the show however are the staff! Friendly, professional, attentive - the concierge team helped us with reservations well before we arrived. Highly recommend Quebec City & Saint-Antoine any time of year!
We loved the hotel. It is a great location in the old part of town within an easy walk for anything you may want to do and for numerous great restaurants. Very stylish and the rooms are big and comfortable. We did have a power outage while we were staying there but our staff did an excellent job and made sure everyone was comfortable while the situation was being resolved.
And if you are looking for a getaway that has outstanding ambience, service and dining, you will be hard-pressed to find better than Auberge Saint Antoine in Quebec city. This trip was a planned, family event my children and grandchildren. The attention paid to us and others staying there was impressive. The architecture and interior design of the entire complex was especially surprising. While I had stayed there on a prior occasion, I had never really enjoyed the history that is documented throughout the building. Chez Muffy provided a dining experience on a par with Michelin restaurants. We availed ourselves of the wonderful gym and spa facilities. Also, for exercise, the location in old Quebec provides outstanding European architecture and plenty of exercise, traveling up and down the cobblestone streets. We will return here many times in the future…
We were there the nights of December 23 and 24. We were supposed to stay the night of December 25 too but left Christmas morning because there were no lights, heat, hot water, elevator, etc for our stay. There was a horrible winter storm at a high enough temperature that the street in front of the hotel was a river. Apparently the "river" flowed into a low part of the hotel causing the power outage. In my evaluations above, The entire staff was beyond commendable. They handled this challenging situation with grace, good humor, professionalism, kindness. I hope everyone of them received a little something extra from management for their tireless work.
This is a great place to stay in Quebec City - staff are so friendly and willing to go the extra yard. Rooms are nice, location is incredible and the ambience is phenomenal. We were there when they lost power during the storm - they lose a star because, although the staff were great, there is clearly a design flaw that needs to be fixed. The power was out for way too long (days) when every other hotel was up and running very quickly/never went down. I would not hesitate to stay here again though.
