First and foremost, liked the owner's attitude - Gilles is a very friendly and helpful person who provided us with useful tips and even brought me some collectibles I was looking for! The rooms are nicely designed and spacious enough for a couple. There are free parking spots right in front of the building, which is a definite plus in... More

If you want to stay in the most LGBT-accepting area of Montreal, if you're on a tight budget, if you want to be in an historic home with original structural finishes, if you do not like strict breakfast schedules, if you enjoy occasionally conversing with a bilingual host who is informative and engaging, if you want a relaxed atmosphere, if... The rooms are very lovely. They are nicely furnished and decorated. All rooms are super clean, in the bathrooms was not one hair on the floor. Gilles is very nice and helpful. You can open the windows, but it's a little bit difficult because the wooden frame and the window stick together. The breakfast is simple but for us, there... More

I book to go from Ottawa to stay one night in Montreal. The place was recommended by friends. I gave an estimated time of arrival. Between 4 and 5:30. But stated it would be closer to 4. When I arrive there was a note on the door gone to the gym and will be back at 4:30. That is a... More

The owner was fantastic. He was very helpful. The beds were terrific. The breakfasts were great with juice cheese raisin and other bread yogurt fruit eggs coffee and tea. The view of the garden and fish pond was spectacular. The location was perfect because of being half way between beaudry and papineau metro green line subway stations and great restaurants... More

My partner and I visited this b&b during our trip across Canada: we just loved it! The house is lovely, colorful and clean. The location is great, as restaurants and bars are a few minutes walk away. There is beautiful garden full of flowers inside, where we sat and had a lovely conversation with Gilles, the host. We are definitely... More

The best part of this B & B is the quiet garden at the back, a bit of an oasis from the rest of the city. High shrubs for privacy, lots of flowers and a small pond with goldfish. The house is very quiet and clean, with lots of colour. The host was very friendly and willing to answer any... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
