It's am affordable 2 star Hotel next to the Mont Royal. The rooms are clean and there is a small breakfast available in the morning. Also, they offer parking for $20. The neighbourhood is really nice with a lot of small restaurants and pubs/bars and it is only a 30min walk to downtown and vieux Montreal. I wouldn't want to...

I'll start by saying that the two of us got a comfortable king-size bed, centrally located in one of North America's great cities, with breakfast and passable wifi, for $60/night, all-in (prepaid via Expedia; your mileage may vary). I'm going to make some critical observations in coming paragraphs, but I do so in that context. Our room for the first...

I was careless not to have read others' reviews when I booked this hotel. They cheat you when it comes to final billing price. Your booking clearly states the price you need to pay for the number of people staying with them. But they bill an extra CAD 15 per day citing no reason. Invariably every guest ends up with...

I had a very disappointing experience with this hotel. When we tried to book online for 2 people, the rate shown was $58. I changed the number of people to 3 and the rate shown was $67. I compared this rate with other hotels and booked this hotel for 3 adults because of their lower rate. The hotel charged us...

August 2013 we booked this via booking.com and the price was clearly stated at CAD 246. We actually had to pay 400 CAD, including 20 CAD for iday parking which is a nightmare there. Breakfast is bad even by North American standards and the floors are dirty. Think twice before using this place, it was our only bad experience during...

The hotel was very basic. When I got there I felt like the main check in lady was cheating me. The stay was supposed to be around 170 for two nights and it ended up being almost 300. Parking is six spots in the back of hotel but you can only get in if someone lets you in from the...

This place is awful!!! We called in advance and were quoted $65 - however when we got there we were charged $94. The place is filthy and in urgent need of a lick of paint. Someone had punched a hole in the bedroom door and the carpets were filthy. Saying that the beds were fairly clean and the shower was...

That's about it, a good deal, beds and towels are clean but the rest is in need of a serious updated and a fresh coat of paint would hurt. The carpet seemed clean, No parking, noisy if you have the room on the street side or near the stairs and no elevator.

My lady came to Montreal to see me and we had already had a lousy experience with an Old Montreal hotel. The Plateau Royale is located on a main but quieter street (Park Avenue), maybe 20 minutes walk from downtown, very close to buses and subways, and what I thought were extremely good rates. (I agree that if you have...

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
