I was searching for a place to post up for a long weekend in Montreal. There's definitely less expensive and more expensive places out there, but I wanted somewhere that was walking distance to pubs, restaurants, and shopping. I also wanted somewhere that was clean. While the rooms are a little tired, the place was clean and bed was comfortable.... More

I stayed at this hotel for the Grand Prix. Even with the premium price for that weekend, it was still a bargain. The hotel was clean enough, and the staff was very friendly. It is a no-frills hotel but met my needs. Location is several blocks from the key tourist areas of Cresent St and St Catherine, so have good... More

This property met our needs location wise with regards to the Montreal Jazz Festival which was a short 10 minute walk away. Arrived on a Friday and departed on Monday, room was worn out and needs upgrading. The bed was comfortable. There was no hot water from the shower but was ok out of the sink tap. Advised the front desk... More

Hotel shows a 4 star rating on its signage, wouldn't give it 1 star. Breakfast was typical "student" food, not something for international travellers. Same thing every morning, powdered scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes and wafer thin bacon swimming in oil. Windows sealed shut so no fresh air. Room not vacuumed once during our stay, very dusty. Furniture not what you... More

It was inexpensive and functional, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it'd be a first choice for my next trip back to Montreal. You can certainly tell it's an ex-hotel>converted into a dorm>converted into a cheap hotel when the students are gone. My showerhead was held together by superglue, the tub had a twoonie-sized rusted out area... More

Although this residence hasn't been "new" in almost 10 years, it's still pretty good. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean, and there is a small fridge for your snacks. The downside is that there are very few power outlets, and all of those are behind furniture and taken up with lights. The other downside is that there isn't... More

Ideal for the budget conscious tourist. In the summer McGill opens up it's new residence at 3625 avenue du Parc at prices that are hard to believe. Rooms are clean, somewhat Spartan in amenities but well worth it. The staff was very accommodating and there is a small indoor mall that is accessible by elevator. The shops include a small... More

The Residence was within walking distance of transport and handy to underground mall by internal lift. Parking at C$25 was a touch expensive. Basic room, comfortable and clean amenities - no coffee/tea making facilities. No breakfast facilities on sight. Room not serviced for our 2 night stay. Beautiful spacious Lobby and seating area belies the basic rooms. Staff were very... More

Several member of our extended family and other friends stayed at this hotel/residence while attending a wedding at McGill University in Montreal. This residence was about a 10 minute walk from the reception (in another residence). I think others would find it a convenient location too because it's not far from the train station, and Rue de St. Catharine's St.... More

This is an ok hotel. For this price I think you can get a better place. The furniture is old and the bathrooms need to be upgraded.the only good thing about this hotel is the location and the car park entrance is inside the hotel.Mont Royal is at walking distance.Lot of good restaurants nearby.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
