Pros: - friendly and helpful staff - very good location - each bunk had an electrical outlet Cons: - not very clean (especially the bathrooms) - a bit noisy To meet the 200 minimum character requirement I am typing this sentence.

Greeted by an patronizing and rude receptionist at 20:30, 27/09/14. Felt like being greeted by a condescending school teacher. Was not useful with directions, when my friend and I asked him to repeat once more he told us it was not a quest and to figure it out. Rooms are average, full of teenagers as to be expected.

We stayed in Room G in the Annex about a block away from the hotel and main hostel. They explained that they put people in there on the weekends for overflow. There was 6 of us and 6 beds in our room. Pefect! We get our own room and own bathroom. It worked out fine but the room was TINY.... More

So the ground and upper floors are hotel de Paris whereas the basement serves the guests of hostelo, the news urban hostel. The rooms are a bit dingy and jam packed with bunks. Would give this place a 3 (5 being highest) for cleanliness. One star for the nice front desk folks and free pancakes and another star for the... More

The location is great as it is just a short walk from downtown and most night life as well as a short walk to a metro station. The hostel itself was dirty and decrepit and the showers were tiny and moldy. One nice thing about the hostel was that it had recommendations as to what to do and see in... More

This is one of the cheapest places in Montréal, so you can't ask much from it. Two positive points are the price and the location on a nice and calm neighbourhood, near to 2 subway stations. I had a shared room in the lower level with 3 beds, but there was only one more person. The carpet was old and... More

I booked multiple nights here. They did not even ask for my ID when I checked in thus no security here. Place is full of cockroaches. Carpet in dorm stinks to high hell. Health hazard. Very very cramped and not comfortable. Some other guy stole by bed - and I was locked out of my own room - even though... More

I got a 4-person all-male hostel room. It was the smallest hostel room i've ever stayed in. First of all, it is down in the basement, with almost no air-flow. Everything is very crammed, there was not even enough space for me and the 3 others to lay our luggage out on the floor. The "private" bathroom could barely fit... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
