The location is great for a visit to the city, near lots of restaurants. The African themed decor is classy and elegant. The rooms have many nice touches (we looked at a few), and are spotless. The staff were very helpful.

Kutuma evidently means "Welcome" and it is well-named. The rooms are large with contemporary decor and a usable small kitchen. There is a great Ethiopian restaurant on the first floor that is affiliated with the hotel. Staff was extremely helpful, including directions and information about events. The hotel is convenient to the Old Port and other attractions, expecially using the... More

We loved this place. Very spacious and comfortable rooms with all mod cons. Conveniently located near metro and hip St Denis restaurants.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Kutuma for one night over Labor Day weekend. I didn't warn my husband about the safari themed decor and he was a little confused when we first arrived... but overall we had a wonderful stay. Pros: -Great location: lots of restaurants, bars, and shops on Rue St. Denis. About a 20 minute walk... More

The Kutuma is perfectly located. The first 3 nights we had the honeymoon suite, which was a surprise we were not expecting. It was absolutely wonderful. I would rent it anyway for any future visit, and we do plan to visit again. The other 2 nights we had a much smaller room, smaller than what we had originally booked/expected; it... More

We stayed three nights in late July. This hotel was nicely decorated with an African theme. The full kitchen included a full-sized microwave. The bathroom was nice, with a big tub and candles, but the fixtures were a bit flimsy. The mattress was excellent (This was first of nine hotels on a long trip!) The location was a block from... Private, intimate, spacious, and highly themed. Our room had: - a giant bed (high off the ground) with a mountain of gold, brown, zebra, and leopard pillows. - a fully set table for two - a modern and full-service kitchen - a big bathtub (candles and fake palm tree included) - mood lighting galore! This would be an ideal set-up... More

From the minute we arrived, the hotel staff were as helpful as any people could have been!!! They helped us bring all of our luggage up the 3 flights of steps to our room, they were responsive to all of our needs, they stored our bikes for us, they parked our car for us, etc.............The restaurant downstairs, Ethiopian, was excellent... What a welcome - we arrived early (1pm), well ahead of the advertised check-in time (4pm) but this was not a problem. We were greeted, checked in and although our room was not ready for us to use our bags were stored and were in our room when we returned later in the afternoon. This is a small 9 room... More

The coffee machine made excellent coffee. The room was lovely and very well-equipped, king bed, huge bath, small kitchenette, cabled internet access. The staff were really good (although sometimes it was hard to get hold of reception). I would highly recommend the breakfast for extra $10 and it was nice to have room service. The cleaner was also excellent and... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
