Stayed for osheaga, and definitely do not regret the decision. The rooms were cozy, and the hostel was very charming. The place had a lot of character. Every thing was well maintained and clean. The people at the reception were very welcome even though we were English. My friends and I have to agree that the location and price were... More

This is a cute little hostel right in the heart of downtown. It's an easy walk to the Metro, or directly to several attractions. My only complaint was the bathroom setup. They have no men's bathroom. There is one bathroom just for women, and another "common" bathroom for everyone. Besides being sexist and ridiculous, this policy resulted in long wait... More

I stayed here for 7 nights and overall had a very enjoyable experience and would definitely stay here again if I'm in Montreal again. The location was spot on, right on Saint Catherine's which will pretty much take you to most places, there's bars and restaurants not just on Rue Bishop but also in practically every direction you go from... I came there late night after I get off Via Rail train and stay one night. I did not have problem with it. The staff were friendly. I can't put my backpack into storage lock in room because they are small like school. It will be nice if they put bigger storage lock there. I noticed that shower don't have... More

I stayed for a week with four of my friends over New Year's and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the staff were friendly and helpful telling us about the local area, places to visit, and the services within the Hostel. The WiFi was good, the rooms a little cold at night, but the breakfast was a large disappointment as only... More

This is one of the best deal in town and with the best sleep for me, due to the softness of the mattress - They dont have those tatamis that are supposed to last longer but are unbearable to my back. So I slept very well and that's the most important. Wifi is good. Breakfast also, and is included. The... More

I stayed 3 nights here in a female dorm. The room was quiet and comfortable and the AC was nice. The building is pretty and in a great location and the staff helpful. However, the bathrooms were the worst I've ever seen (and I've stayed in a lot of hostels around the world) There were Clumps of hair in the... More

Good location just near the main shopping streets with lots of cafes and restaurants. Two grocery stores a few blocks away, which was nice. Facilities were ok, but the wifi only worked occasionally and the doors couldn't be locked from the outside. Some of our stuff got stolen from the room and the staff made inspections to the rooms without... More

Hi Vkiilune, Thank you for your response. We deeply regret that you had a less than adequate experience with us. Regarding the staff entering the room without knocking, the staff do not come into the rooms unless it is for work related tasks. After 11am there are a lot of beds to be made, rooms to be cleaned and given... More

Stayed here with three friends. We were supposed to be in a 10 person room but got upgraded for free to a 4 person. Nice room with very comfortable bunkbeds and could control temperature ourselves. Lockers in the room. Breakfast is just toast and tea/coffee. Very clean, lovely converted old house. Great location, lots of bars and restaurants nearby, short... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
