An iconic Hotel in the heart of old port. Stylish and modern. Open floor design. One of the best boutique hotels around. The food is also unbelievably good. I believe this is an independently owned hotel, which is why it is highly recommended.

I have toured the hotels in Montreal and have almost done all the boutique hotels in this city. For whatever reason I had yet to land in this property. Wow - pictures do not do the room nor the service justice. Not part of a chain, it feels that the owner has put effort in the service and details of...

The Hotel Gault surpassed my expectations. Every staff member we interacted with was pleasant, spoke great English, and was eager to help. Case in point: Jordane. He was manning the front desk one night. We had received a recommendation for a restaurant earlier in the day, scribbled on a bar napkin. We handed it to Jordane and asked him if...

This is an amazing hotel in the old Montreal section of the city. The motif is very avant garde and stylish. The lobby and restaurant are an open design one flowing into the other. There is even a library and fireplace that is very comfy. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch. The food is outstanding. My cheese omelet was served...

Loved this little hotel. Close to the metro, restaurants, etc, but on a quiet side street. It was a huge room, decorated very modern. Linens were top notch, bed very comfy. Nice robes to wrap up in. The staff was excellent, very friendly and attentive. Had breakfast in their cafe, very nice.

While the staff were absolutely lovely, the service excellent, the room large and the bed really comfortable, we likely won't go back. The decor is grey everywhere inside and outside the room, with very little if anything adorning the walls. The hotel looks tired, scuffed walls, poor workmanship, outlets not easily accessible, and the lobby furniture frayed. For this quality...

Small boutique hotel, centrally located between the Old Town and Downtown. Perfectly run, with large, modern and well designed rooms and very pleasant lobby space. The service is just perfect, with staff going extra mile to deal with any requests - just home away from home.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
