The staff make this hostel they were lovely. Great location and terrific breakfast! The room was a little small and dark but the other guests were very friendly! I only was in the city one night but if I returned I would definitely stay. Make sure to get dolwn to brekfast as early as possible for the maximum amount of... More

First time solo travelling and 1st time in a hostel. Stayed in a room with 5 other females. Enjoyed my stay. Met many people from around the world. Had breakfast (every morning) was included in price. Pancakes, juice, oranges, toast. Place is secure and everyone receives their own key as main door is locked at night. Would recommend for anyone... More

We have been here for one night. The room was clean and satisfactory, the staff was very nice. Breakfast was also good. The place looks less like hotel and more like student dormitory - you bring the sheets when you leave, you do the dishes after yourself but all goes in friendly atmosphere. Close to the boulevard with many places... More

We stayed over two weekends in two different mixed dorms. Overall the hostel is friendly, safe, clean and very conveniently located in the middle of town. It is noisy (noise from the street, not inside) and because it was hot we had to keep the windows open. Even with the fans on it got quite hot in one mixed dorm,... More

To say that the staff at Le Gite Plateau is friendly would be a terrible understatement. From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcome and were given excellent recommendations on where to eat for the evening from Vincent. He was very warm and kind, which we found to be a pleasant contrast to the cold-nature of the hospitality industry... More

Loved our stay at Le Gite Plateau. We had a private en suite room in section 3414 - it was a "semi-basement" room - very small but adequate but every time I think of the size of the bathroom I laugh - I never saw a bathroom so small but it worked. I am a BIG woman and my travel... More

Best place about this hostel is the location. Right next to Saint Laurent Boulevard (which is where some of the best bars, clubs and restaurants) are in the city and a few streets away from the famous St. Catherine street. We didn't have to catch public transport at all during our stay over the long weekend as everything was within... More

I stayed at this hostel with a group of friends during our weekend trip to Montreal. We booked two private rooms to sleep six people. The rooms were clean and had a sink, shower, and toilet. The hostel also provided bedding and towels which was appreciated. Breakfast consisted of pancakes, toast, fruit, yogurt, coffee, etc. There was plenty of seating... More

For my first trip to Montreal I wanted to make sure my lodgings were in a convenient location to public transport (I didn't rent a car) and I could rely on knowledgable staff to help with any questions I had about getting around in the city. The hostel is located only about a 4-5 minute walk to a Metro station... More

My daughter and I recently stayed for two nights in a private twin room with bath. Lovely old building with a lot of character, very neat and clean, beds comfy. Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
