The staff is attentive and friendly. The hotel is an ideal location for a quite weekend get away. The rooms are spacious and extremely well maintained. Finally, the location in the middle of Old Port is ideal for walking to restaurants and other attractions.

My husband I stayed at the Hotel Nelligan for 4 days right before Christmas and it was wonderful. Very classy with with great staff but I want to give a special mention to Nathalia and Maude on the concierge desk. Both were incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and helpful both over e-mail before we arrived and during our stay. I would very...

The Hotel Nelligan in Montreal is one of the finest examples of understated elegance that I have experienced thus far in my decidedly short life. Right from the get-go, people knew what we needed, and helped us with what we wanted in such a way as to make it feel like we had arrived home. The hotel itself takes up...

This was our second visit to Old Montreal. Our first was the year we were engaged and Hotel Nelligan was a dream. This stay we decided to get a junior suite to enjoy the romance of a fire, two person tub and nice suite. We were a bit disappointed. Firstly we had told the front desk we were going to...

The Hotel Nelligan is a beautiful hotel with great service. The beds are perfectly comfortable with cozy duvets. A bar, restaurant and shop all located inside the hotel, what more could one ask for? Thank you for making a fabulous weekend even better!

Our firm had our annual Christmas Party at the Nelligan in the Banquet Verses. From the first contact by phone to the end of the evening, everything was done with professionalism. The venue was beautiful, the food was outstanding and the service was amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel for any corporate or private event.

My wife and I were looking for the quintessential Old Montreal experience for my wife's 50th birthday and we found it at the Nelliigan. Fantastic location on Montreal's oldest street. Our spacious room, with beautiful exposed brick and fireplace, looked out onto the street below, bustling most days with horse drawn carriages and the like. Our trip was made all...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
