We spend two lovely days at Hotel Nelligan with our little baby. The rooms were very comfortable, service was impeccable and staff very kind and helping. We definitely recommend this hotel to enjoy the old Montreal.

We had booked a suite for a three day stay in Old Montreal. When we arrived from a visit to Quebec City, the lobby was overflowing with people and we learned that this small hotel had booked two (yes, two!) weddings with raucous guests overflowing throughout the public areas. Our suite was huge, but unimaginatively furnished in various shades of... More

Amazing service! We had a beautiful room overlooking the courtyard! Very very comfortable. Roof top patio, Steak restaurant and roof top patio - added bonus - we don't want to leave!! Already planning our next trip! It's located on St Paul west - right behind Notre Dame and in the middle of great galleries and restaurants!

Clean, comfortable rooms. If you have a room overlooking street, it can get a bit noisy. This is the old port area so any hotel will be a bit noisy as the area is lively. Street parking is tricky. Hotel valet service is about $34 with in/out. There's a parking lot around the corner for $25. Don't use indigo parking,... More

Dear Guests, Thank you for your review. Thank you for understanding the noise issues that most hotels face when in the heart of a city. The same goes for the parking. We stayed one night in this nice hotel in Montreal’s old town, and had dinner in the hotel’s highly-rated restaurant that night. The hotel is very nice, in a historic building, with high-end contemporary touches and upgrades. Our room and bed were very comfortable, if a bit cramped (extra chair next to the bed was hard to get around, and... More

What an amazing hotel. The ambience of the area was so quaint, historic and trendy at the same time. First, lets talk about the hotel itself. The service was awesome from the front desk to the gentlemen working the door. Everyone was super friendly and the service first class. The rooms were very nice, beds super comfy, and bathroom spotless.... More

We were very pleased as soon as we pulled up to the door and the bellman took care of everything. Check in was fast and very nice with an upgrade to a suite. Enjoyed every aspect of this boutique hotel in Montreal. We stayed in a charming room with brick walls in back of hotel. Lovely sitting areas in lobby for socializing with bar service. The roof-top terrace restaurant is a must after a day of sightseeing. Continental breakfast -- best ever -- included: Cheeses, fruit platters, cereal, croissants, breads, muffins, etc. The... More

We returned to Hotel Nelligan after not being there for a few years. Unlike our first visit (when our expwrience was simply outstanding) this time we were a bit disappointed. Our room (junior suite) had a jacuzzi tub that was possessed. At promptly 1:20 a.m. each night, the tub would come alive with a jet engine scream, waking us from... More

Dark, cold, noisy room. Our room (and about 1/2 the rooms in this hotel) did not have an outside window. The room had 2 bedside lights and a dim floor lamp that were inadequate for reading. We actually had to use our iphone flashlights to read and look around the room for items before leaving. The thermostat had 5 settings... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
