The hotel is located in old Montreal, near the port. The room and the bathroom are very clean and the staff is very friendly. Its been our 4th stay in the hotel over last 14 years and we’ll definitely stay there again while visiting Montreal.
We came for a two night stay. While the room was clean, it felt a bit overpriced for what was offered: we had no closet where to hang our clothes, and a basic amenity such as an iron had to be requested. Not something you’d expect for such a highly-rated hotel. The disappointment came during the 2 breakfasts that we paid for as part of our stay. The waitstaff were overwhelmed, and we waited for over 30 minutes during our second breakfast just to have someone come to take our order. The breakfast itself only included drip coffee, and the quality of the breakfast isn’t what we hoped for in a boutique hotel that Nelligan strives to be. The staff at the rooftop terrace seemed similarly overwhelmed, although both areas had plenty of seating capacity. The drinks were great however. We don’t recommend paying for the hotel breakfast.…
There are so many things to love about this hotel. First the location is excellent as it is within easy walking distance of numerous restaurants, shops, Notre Dame, etc in the heart of old Montreal. The hotel has a real charm and all of the staff are absolutely top notch. They really made our stay special. We stayed in a petite suite. It was very nice but could have been a tad larger. Breakfast was included and excellent. Highly recommended.
This hotel is a solid 4.5. Great hotel and staff. Very friendly. Valet parking the car is really the only way to go so you don't have to try and find parking. The rooms are very old country yet with a very strong modern flare. Bed was very comfortable. They have turn down service in the early evening that makes it extra special. The few areas to not, the lighting in the room and bathroom is on the dim side. Adds to the ambiance but makes it hard to shave and per my wife, do your makeup in the bathroom. A few other things that just kept it from being a solid 5. BUT we would come again if we visit the city.
From the time we checked in until we checked out it was truly a wonderful experience. Our rooms had been upgraded at no charge and contained a fire place and jacuzzi. The hotel decor is smart and stylish. Our room was extremely quiet and beds super comfortable. Every member of the staff with whom we interacted could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The rooftop bar has a great atmosphere and our server gave terrific suggestions for restaurants in the area. Breakfast in the dining room was delicious. The location of Hotel Nelligan is ideal for seeing Old Montreal and enjoying this fun, charming part of the city. Would definitely stay here again when visiting Montreal.
I am so happy that I chose Hotel Nelligan for our Honeymoon weekend. Such a beautiful property and we were treated like royalty for our entire stay. Cannot recommend this wonderful hotel and staff any better!
The location is perfect. The rooms are super comfortable, the beds are fantastic. The Terrasse is beautiful. And most important, the staff is phenomenal. The answer is never “no,” always of course! Can’t imagine a better place to stay In Montreal.
This is our third time staying at the Nelligan and we absolutely love it. From the first welcome from the Valet staff, to the friendly staff at Check-In, the rooms are beautiful and warm, the beds are very comfortable. The rooftop atmosphere was great, and the morning breakfast was exactly what we needed! We will continue to stay here every time we come to Old Montreal!
The Hotel Nelligan is in a great location in Old Montreal. The petit suite was roomy, comfortable and clean. The front desk staff was great and the food was excellent. The terrace bar was terrific too. On the downside, our room faced the street where there is a bar that is open until 3:00 am. We barely slept due to the noise outside. It appears that the standard rooms are in the back and the suites face the front, so standard rooms would be quieter. The service in the restaurant was particularly bad. We would stay here again, but we’d choose either a standard room or the penthouse.
Had not been to Montreal for a weekend in decades, what a brilliant wonderful long weekend getaway from New York, cannot recommend enough. Culture and architecture and food and shopping and calm happy civilized people! Beautiful drive from New York, with no airline chaos. Chose the Nelligan based on many recommendations on TripAdvisor, and it was a very good choice. Excellent location, charming space, helpful staff, housekeeping is great. While we were there breakfast restaurant severely understaffed, but that is a sign of the times. From TripAdvisor reviews was concerned about noise and placed several calls to hotel ahead to choose room, but was not guided properly. Stayed in room 322, really good space, in back of the building, was told it was quiet alleyway, but in fact we heard much noise all night with adjacent property owners tossing garbage and then 5 AM Garbage Collection. Still plan to return, will just work to try different rooms. Fun boutique weekend hotel.…
