If they are not doing construction on Ste Catherine this is by far the best place to stay in the city for the money. Massive rooms (i highly recommend you get the one bedroom as it is worth it for the extra space), fantastic staff and service, exceptionally clean, the best location around, kitchen, super comfy bed, very soft towels. The only negatives are the water pressure is not the best and there is carpets in the rooms (some might prefer this). Thanks again to the exceptional staff and service during these difficult times.
We just had a lovely five day stay at Le Square Phillips, a last minute decision as the hotel we had booked in downtown Montreal was offering zero services: no food of any kind and cleaning of the room only every 2 or 3 days. When I called to confirm the reservation, they didn’t seem like they wanted to see us. I will not name names here, because in good times, it is a nice hotel. Le Square Phillips, on the other hand, welcomed us from the first call to reserve the room until they wished us a safe trip home. They offered a large room that included two Queen beds, a living room, dining area and well stocked kitchen which was key to have during the Covid-19 crisis, when dining options around Montreal were limited to a few take out options. The staff at the hotel were welcoming and helpful. Our air conditioning didn’t work, and it was quickly fixed and a standing fan also placed in the room. The room was cleaned every day except for Sunday. The normally included breakfast was not available and amenities such as the pool and restaurant were closed. We cooked all of our breakfasts and a few dinners in our sparkling clean kitchen which had all of the equipment we needed (stove top, oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, dishes, pots and pans, glasses, cutlery, cork screw, etc) with the only thing missing being a good paring knife. The room included a full bathroom and half bath which were very clean. Room was very clean, too, and the beds were comfortable. While not an ideal time to visit Montreal (May 2020), given the city was pretty much shut down, we still had a wonderful time seeing our daughter and celebrating her university graduation. The Le Square Phillips was an ideal hotel choice, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. Even during this crisis, the hotel staff seemed genuinely happy to have our business.…
For our first visit to Montreal we couldn't have had a better hotel. When I booked a king-bed suite, I was thinking "Suite....yeah, yeah" and expected something tiny. We couldn't believe our eyes when we arrived. I used to rent a flat that was smaller than that! The staff were friendly and the concierge service was very helpful for directions, information, airport taxis, etc. The location is smashing! We were able to walk to most of what we wanted to see, but were also close to the Metro: 2-3 blocks away. You are spoilt for choice for restaurants in the area surrounding the hotel. The suite was immaculately clean, the bed, sofa and chairs firm and comfortable. We used the kitchen at least once a day and found it well stocked for utensils, etc. It was also handy having the washers and dryers available for guests. The icing on the cake for us was the swimming pool on the roof. After a day of walking it was great to have a swim and relax. Frankly, it was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in as regards comfort, convenient location and price.…
We had a 6 night stay here and were extremely comfortable. The apartment was very large and spacious with a well equipped full kitchen and comfortable lounge area. Great location with a metro nearby, multiple shopping centres within walking distance as well as plenty of restaurants and fast food options nearby. Also an easy 15 minute walk to Montreal D Town. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again if I was back in Montreal.
This hotel is pretty well right on st Catherine street between old montreal and the bell center! The rooms were very clean and spacious never had a hitch the three nights we stayed there. The breakfast that was included was great as well with a couple kinds of fruit, bread, croissants, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, swiss cheese, slice ham, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and fruit. As well juice, coffee and hot chocolate. If your wanting a place to eat there is a pizza place next door has amazing stone oven baked pizzas. Its very busy there all the time so be patient haha. They have a swimming pool which is nice, along with a well equipped gym that is on the rooftop inside a room of course with lots of windows. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is going for a long weekend.…
