Nice hotel, great location. Missing a pool. We did not use the spa facilities. Valets were particularly helpful including William. We stayed in a family suite with a balcony. The balcony overlooked a vacant parking lot but did have a decent view of other parts of Montreal. Hotel is within walking distance of several attractions.
We were supposed to arrive Sunday evening but arrived at 1:30 am on Tuesday without luggage due to flight issues with Air Canada. After spending a few hours unsuccessfully resolving the luggage issue on the phone with the airline the next morning, I went down to the lobby and spoke with the Concierge Denis. Not to worry! He wrote down all the pertinent information and encouraged us to go enjoy Montreal for the afternoon. We were pleasantly surprised when we returned to find that Denis managed to get a lost luggage claim filed with the airline and had his "on ground" contacts assisting in the search for our bags. He provided information for us to navigate the subway for shopping for some clothes and gave us much needed support to an unpleasant start to our vacation. Our luggage caught up to us the following day in Quebec City, thanks to Denis' efforts. The Concierge at the hotel in Quebec City left us a note indicating that Denis had called to make sure that our luggage had indeed arrived as promised! The hotel's location is perfect for seeing Montreal and the rooms are exactly as expected from the website. The service is very good. We had a bit of confusion with the complimentary breakfast but Denis and staff addressed the issue expediently.…
We arrived early to Montreal by train and our room was already ready for check-in upon arrival. This was our favorite hotel of the trip and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a perfect location in Old Montreal next to Notre Dame Basilica and near to the Old Port and also convenient to the Metro and Bus. We had included breakfast with our room and it was delicious every morning. Our room was large but cozy at the same time. Highly recommend Hôtel Place d'Armes for first-time visitors. We would love to stay here again on a return trip!
From the moment I checked in to this absolutely gorgeous hotel, I felt welcomed and pampered. The concierge, Denis, could not have been nicer, more informative and helpful. He alone would make me want to return to Hotel Place d'Armes. This hotel is the PERFECT location - right across from Notre Dame Basilica in the center of Old Montreal, and the room was about the best I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in a lot. See photos. My only complaint about Hotel d"Armes, but I did not let it ruin my short stay, was that the service in the Terrace restaurant (see photo) was incredibly poor. My waiter, Gavin, basically ignored me...never offered water or bread or even asked if I wanted another cocktail while I waited for almost an hour (!) for my entre to arrive (and I would have ordered another). My wine arrived when I was halfway through the entre - even though. I was trying to go slowly, I just didn't want it to get cold. He never offered dessert or coffee, which I also would have ordered had I thought I would actually get it in a reasonable amount of time. I was a solo woman, paying top dollar for one of the nicer rooms, and Gavin seemed to be avoiding my table altogether as he went to have long conversations with every other table around me. I had to ask one of the hostesses if she would ask him to come take my order. It was my last dinner in Montreal, and it was hard not to get stressed by the experience. I honestly don't know what was up with him, as I could not have been nicer - the concierge had put me in such a great mood and I loved the terrace where I was sitting. I actually hope someone at the restaurant or hotel sees this and says something to him.…
The Hotel Place D'Armes in Historic Montreal is a top class luxury hotel in every way a guest could want, but, they absolutely excel in caring for their guests. When I got very sick and was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital, everyone at the hotel did their best to be helpful. This is especially true of Denis Beaulieu, Chief Concierge, who inquired constantly how he could be of help to my husband and a family member who came to help, made adjustments to our scheduled stay as needed, and assisted a family member who came to help. When we left, he presented us with homemade marsh mellows from the hotel's chef. This is simply the best luxury hotel in Montreal --- hands down. Thank You!
Recently returned from a one night stay. Overall, the hotel is lovely - great location with spacious rooms. Unfortunately, the ventilation in the room was extremely loud to the point that it interfered with sleep. The vent was located on the wall and was akin to a white noise machine being turned on at full volume. As we were only in the room to sleep, I only realized when we got home and felt that It was too late to ask to switch rooms (we got home around 11:30pm). We were in room 2304. Would strongly recommend asking for another room as it completely interfered with our sleep. We booked through Hotwire - I sometimes wonder if they reserve the less desirable rooms for those that don’t book directly through the hotel. Given the cost (we paid over $400 for the night) I would have expected better. There is no way I am the first to have experienced this as an issue. Have a video of the noise but can’t seem to post it.…
We just returned from Montreal, celebrating my wifes’ birthday with another couple. It was our first stay at the Hotel Place des Armes (May 26-30) and we all found it to be an excellent choice. From previous visits to old Montreal, we expected warm, wonderful hospitality, but the Place does Armes and the staff made our trip so much more enjoyable, we ended up striating for an additional night! The hotel is situated in a perfect location well within walking distance of everything in old Montreal. The hotel itself is a jewel, a beautiful historic building, that has been thoughtfully converted into a modern hotel, while retaining and respecting its character (the restaurant is located on the corner in a gorgeous old bank featuring much of the of the original interior. Note, that we experienced some loud music from across the street the first night, and we were kindly offered an alternate room at the rear of the hotel which we opted for, without any fuss. Any of the staff we interacted with, from Karina (our initial contact in the booking office) to the Concierge that welcomed us at the door (Remo and others), to Maria (at the front desk) were professional, genuinely caring, and doing all they could to make us feel welcome. We look forward to returning to Montreal, and the four of us agree, we will only stay at the Hotel Places des Armes. Thank you!…
A nice stay . Thanks to the manager Youssef he really did a change in our week at Place D’arme . The team was awesome . The service definitely made the difference . Thanks to them ! They exceeded our expectations.
We stayed at the Place D'Armes while celebrating my 70th birthday. The front desk staff were excellent and efficient. We consulted with the concierge who was just great! His recommendations were excellent for high end dining, as well as a great breakfast suggestion. All the staff were friendly and very welcoming. There is a outdoor deck on top of the hotel for drinks and light meals. Our room was a large corner room with lots of windows for a nice bright room. The bathroom was large with a great shower! The location for the hotel was a 10+! We were close to everything - metro, Notre Dame, Chinatownand the convention center where we saw the Van Gogh Illusion. We were able to walk to almost everything Place D'Armes truly was a gem in Montreal. I highly recommend it!
located in the heart of the historic disctrict, you can walk to all the cool old tourist spots. there are a ton of cafe and scenic historic spots all within short walking distance. the hotel isnt ultra modern, so if thats what your looking for this isnt the place for you, but if you want to be immersed in old world charm, then check it out.
