Room location was superb: penthouse level facing downtown. The hotel restaurant, Renoir, served excellent food, accompanied by wonderful staff. (especially Frederic at the bar). The manager, Maria ,was brilliant and caring. Exceptional staff.
I very much enjoyed my stay in July 2022. The hotel was so welcoming. The room, while of a modest size, was so thoughtfully well-designed that it felt really comfortable and convenient — they made such great use of the space that I found it to be a great reprieve when returning back from a long day out and about in the heat. The location gave great access to downtown Montreal but also to the rest of Montreal through the nearby Peel subway station. I would definitely stay here when visiting again in future. My only grip is that I wish the urban destination fee was communicated at check-in. The fee is not huge compared to other properties but I prefer to know about this up-front. Because the hotel was so nice and I thought the room rates were very fair, I didn’t mind.
The week spent at the Sofitel Montreal was a week full of wonder and amazement. This week was a celebration of 20 plus years of friendship. As I live in Laval, and she was coming in from Switzerland to visit me, we decided on the Sofitel as it was in the center of everything. We were able to enjoy the Montreal nightlife and not have to worry about travelling long distances to get back “home”. Thank you to the Sofitel management and the staff at Le Renoir for making this vacation so enjoyable.
It was horrible and spoiled what would have been a lovely Montreal long weekend. I left 4 hours after arriving. The staff is poorly trained and seems to be kids left to their own make-believe devices... it's passably mediocre if you're only adults checking in but if you have a furry friend with you, it can be deadly. This is not a dog-friendly hotel, this is a leave your dog there and pray they don't decide to take your dog for a walk without your approval and without leashing the dog properly kind of place. Upon arriving they made me sign a waiver that I was fine with. If my dog barks or makes some noise they would 1) contact me and then if they can't reach me and get me back to handle my dog in a timely manner 2) move my dog to another part of the hotel like the concierge room (nowhere do you give permission for the hotel to take your dog to the busy downtown streets). I arrived, got ready for dinner, and went two blocks away, keeping my phone on the restaurant's table in case the hotel called me. 3 hours later I get a call "your dog was making noises so we took her out of the room and one of our concierges is now walking her in the street until you arrive". I had received no previous warnings...I get back in the hotel 2 minutes later and see that my dog wasn't properly harnessed - she could have slipped off the harness and fled in a city she doesn't know and would have likely never been found again. I was livid. I received no apologies and the staff instead fought me on this telling me: 1) I agreed to their poor decision-making and behaviour by signing the waiver. I made the reception person read that waiver again so he would understand he was never given the right to do such a thing 2) that it was my fault for leaving my dog unattended for "so long". I only left for dinner and dogs aren't allowed in restaurants... what does Sofitel expect? That we don't leave our dogs inside their supposedly dog-friendly hotel when we eat? 3) that my dog "asked to be taken out because she wanted to pee"... WHAT?? You speak dog?? what else did you guys talk about?? My dog did not need to pee, she had been out 3 hours earlier before entering the hotel and pees 3 times a day. She likely was wondering who were these strange men fumbling a harness on her and pulling her out of a room where our belongings and her bed were. After this happened I took my things, packed my bags and left the hotel as I could not trust them with anything - not my dog and none of my things either. That was 3 days ago, I have yet to receive an apology and a refund for this atrocious, weekend wrecking service. Sofitel, I'll make sure everyone knows how much of a joke you are for risking my dog's life like this.…
We’re wrapping up an excellent stay at the Sofitel Montreal and really enjoyed our visit. The hotel is in great condition, the staff is quite helpful and the location is ideal for central Montreal. For a return trip to Montreal, my family and I will certainly look to to stay here again. Also, the hotel restaurant Renoir was also very good!
We have stayed many times at the Sofitel Montréal Golden Mile and each time has been nothing short of amazing. The staff are absolutely fabulous - special thanks to Dominic, Coralee, Miguel, Basil, Kevin, Marcus and everyone else we had the pleasure of talking with! Thank you for always going out of your way to make our stay the absolute best it can be!
This hotel is welcoming, in a fantastic location, and spotlessly clean. I was impressed by the polite service from everyone, including bellboys, front desk, concierge, bar staff — everyone we met was warm and helpful. I was in a Luxury Room with City View. The room was very spacious, had plenty of cupboard and drawer space, had a large bathroom, and an incredible view. The bed was very comfortable — the pillows were not. I should have asked for a softer pillow as they were all very hard. I really appreciated the opportunity to have guaranteed late check out for a fee of $150 (at time of reservation); this made it much easier with a night time flight. The room was very clean, but we were two people and each day we ran out of shampoo and shower gel. I think that it’s reasonable to leave some extra in each room so there is enough each day. My biggest disappointment was with the restaurant. I had breakfast there one day, and the eggs were served cold and when I opened the jar of peanut butter, it had been used by a previous diner. The same thing happened when I had food at the bar — some of the butter was clearly being re-served, since half a piece was missing. Overall, I will definitely return to this hotel and recommend it highly. Some attention to the food & beverage service would go a way to making it a near-perfect stay.…
I've stayed at many other 5 star hotel including the Ritz across the street from this hotel and I mut say this will be my go-to hotel in the future. First time at a Sofitel hotel and I was impressed with the service and quality. From the valet to the concierge and the restaurant staff, the experience was impeccable. My room on the 10th floor was well-lit, clean, spacious with the most amazing bed! It truly felt like sleeping on the clouds. In fact, I was told that I can order the mattress top that they use in on their website which I'm going to. I got the best night sleep while I was there. Alos, the location is perfect too, right on Sherbrook and walking distance to the Mt. Royal park too. Best of all!
We were extremely disappointed with the hotel. We had to stay one night as we were flying back to the UK having travelled the east coast. Unfortunately, the FI Grand Prix was scheduled fir the weekend so it was extremely busy. The room was decorated to a high standard but was like a shoe box. Our room was facing the main road and the traffic noise was so bad that it was impossible to sleep. The hotel need to invest in serious triple glazing. To be fair when we were leaving the staff tried desperately to book us a taxi to the hotel as nothing was available. The hotel caters for the wealthy and it was clear from the treatment that was given to guests with luxury cars and money.
This was my first experience with Sofitel, being more familiar with the Fairmont brand when it comes to high end offering within the Accor Hotels group. Overall, I enjoyed my short stay at the Sofitel. What I liked: Premium offering with a feeling of exclusivity - but without being over the top. Room assigned was prepared as requested and offered a nice view. Check-in was quick and efficient and I was able to get to my room promptly. Location is fairly good - depending on what you are looking to do. I'd argue it is at the (northwest) edge of what I consider to be the main downtown area. Close enough to dining and shopping... but a little bit removed from the true core. The size of the room was good and layout was conducive to working with an adequate desk in the room. Temperature control (room and water) was good. Nice premium bathroom amenities. Very comfortable bed. Pretty good, premium, restaurant on site. Stable wifi. No real comments as far as major improvements needed... Yes, at some point, the rooms will need a little touch up - but did not feel that the decor was outdated. Everything was in working order, and this is what matters most. Highly recommended…
