This is a French colonial build so the rooms are large and the building is concrete (doesn't let sound resonate like other English colonial builds 😘). Equipped with vintage furniture and luxury robes; the best highlight of this spot is charm and location location location! (Perfect walking spot- park your car there and go....) The staff were lovely, efficient and... More

LHotel is a great hotel to stay at when visiting Old Montreal. The hotel itself, a converted bank building, is very interesting with art everywhere. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was large, clean and comfortable. The location is within easy walking distance of Old Montreal attractions and restaurants.

Strongly suggest looking at pictures of hotel before booking. It is a very unique boutique hotel. The design is not for everyone. However, my family really enjoyed the styling. Service was incredibly friendly from reception and housekeeping. Location is in Old Montreal, the tourist section. However, Montreal is geared towards tourism so you have to go considerably far from the... More

Stayed at Lhotel for 4 nights the week of August 15, 2016. The location was perfect. A stones throw from Notre Dame and many restaurants and shops. A few blocks from the subway, a clean easy way to get to other parts of the city. The room was clean (although the carpet could use a shampooing), large, and beautifully decorated.... More

The hotel is nicely located and the room was large - really a suite with a couch and nice furniture. The room could use a little maintenance, but it was okay. My biggest complaint was that I reserved it on their website - without realizing the rate (which was less than the 'rack ' rate but not cheap by any... More

We stayed for two nights, and this was a wonderful hotel. Fantastic location, easy walking distance to Old Montreal. The staff were tremendous, very friendly and full of recommendations on things to do and places to see. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Montreal. The room was large and comfortable. Superb!

We stayed at the L'Hotel for four days and really enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly, welcoming and elegantly attired. The exterior of the building is spectacular and attracts a lot of attention for the beautiful sculptures on either side of the entrance. Many tourists stop to have their photo taken in front of the building. The location is... More

Coveniently located, i block from the Notre Dame cathedral and few blocks from the old town. Rooms with plenty space and comfortable beds. Balanced mix between modern and vintage furniture. Lobby is small and busy, specially at check put time. No parking in the hotel They offer Valet parking (slow service, consider extra time for this if you are in... More

Lovely and elegant hotel in Old Montreal. The original artwork, including by Damien Hirst, was an extra treat. The iced water with limes in the lobby was a welcome touch. There was a good choice at breakfast in the pleasant dining room. Staff were friendly and keen to help.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
