Loved the eclectic original art work throughout the hotel. The room was spacious with high ceilings. The location allows for strolling through the cobblestone lanes of Old Montreal and is just minutes from train station.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The room was very well decorated and comfortable. The staff were very good, location is very convenient if you want to explore old Montreal and Sherbrooke is only 15min walk. Breakfast did not include hot meals ie. Eggs, pancakes, waffles etc.. But the bagels, cereal, croissant etc... were very satisfying.

The hotel is a small modern art museum! It's full of colours, pop art, really original. It's second greatest asset are the staff. Always kind, discreet, available and helpful. Rooms are ordinary when compared to the artwork contained within but spacious and clean. It has a decent size bathtub and marble top lavabo. Free coffee tea and water in the... More

This is our second time staying at the L Hotel and it won't be our last. The staff is always pleasant, the rooms are clean and it is great having a bar on location. It is a short walk to the Basilica and Old Town. The rooms are very large and the beds are very comfortable. The artwork throughout the... More

We chose the hotel based on reviews and they were accurate. The room was large with old world charm with high ceilings and large windows. The lobby is like a museum with all the artwork displayed. The staff was all quite young, very friendly and attentive. They stopped to say hello whenever we passed by. We had drinks in the... More

Just finished a weekend getaway to Old Montreal and decided on L'Hotel just down the street from such icons as the St James, The Regis and The Westin. By comparison L'Hotel is a fun nouveau boutique hotel with Old World elegance combined with the charm of a smaller more intimate setting. The hotel feels more like the product of the... More

Was looking for a place close to Old Montreal, where plenty was in walking distance since we were only there for two days, one night and was with my young teenage daughter. This hotel met all expectations!! Conveniently located, incredibly helpful staff, clean, quiet..perfect for what we wanted! And they were gracious about keeping our things until we were ready... We spent one night at l'Hotel in January 2016. The staff was very helpful; good prices in bar during happy hour, good value for hotel (we booked on outside site). Room was very large and comfortable. Historic hotel with modern conveniences. The best was the modern/pop art work throughout the hotel. Amazing. Like walking in a museum on the way... More

Perfect location in Old Montreal. The interior is most unusual for an hotel but most welcoming as it has a wonderful art collection through out. Our room was extremely comfortable and very spacious, furnished to a very high standard. The young staff were charming and nothing was too much trouble, they were a delight. There are a great selection of... More

Great location. Valet parked car and walked most places. Amazing artwork throughout the hotel. Sat having drinks in the downstairs lounge next to a Warhol. Rooms were great with an old world charm. Staff were super helpful. Highly recommend.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
