I wanted to love this hotel based on other reviews but alas could not.... More student dorm feel than hotel, and very dated. Clean and centrally located but you could hear neighbours in next room through the walls, and the one ply brown toilet paper just put me over the edge... Inexpensive, but not anywhere near what other reviewers have...

We had a truly brilliant time at the Hotel St. Denis !! Close to all the restaurants and pubs on St Denis Street and a short 10min walk to Old Montreal. But the truly amazing part of this trip was the interaction with the hotel staff and ownership of this hotel. They were so professional and helpful that I was...

A huge jacuzzi, large confy bed, near Berri-UQAM Subway Station and Orleans Express Bus Station. I will definetly come back. The hotel itself dates a bit, but the jacuzzi makes the room ok :) I used it twice during my 1-day stay. Great value.

Hotel St Denis is my go-to hotel when in Montreal--for the last 8 years. I've never had less than a great experience: always very clean; front desk staff always congenial, knowledgeable, and professional. The location is very convenient to metro, bus station/car rental, good eateries and sites. Not a chain--a plus in my book. Reliably perfect for my modest needs...

This hotel is conveniently located at the corner of St-Denis and St-Catherine streets. The room (2 very comfy queen beds) was really large and had a desk, mini-fridge and a loveseat. The room had this fabulous antique feel of montreal's older appartments built in the first half of the 20th century. The room was super clean and the staff very...

The hotel was basic (but didn't lack anything), clean, and very well located (in the Quartier des Spectacles, not far from the Old-Montreal and Old-Port). Ths staff was helpful. Good price for what you get.

I was stuck and couldn't find a hotel, the manager went over the top to find me a room and accomodate me. The place is comfortable and clean and well located but there is no breakfast. However, a good breakfast can be found right down the corner. I rate this hotel tops for friendliness. One low point: a LOT of...

Stayed here in September 2016. Front staff was excellent. Very nice people. The building is old but well maintained. Room was small but was travelling solo this time so the size was not an issue. It really felt like I had stepped back into time. The architecture and design had that feel. Narrow hallways. Big heavy doors. Crown molding around...

The hotel was clean, basic and very central. Staff was helpful and made great recommendations for restaurants. 2 computers in the lobby and sitting area which was handy. A 10 minute walk to Old Montreal and other sites.

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
