Nestled in an original Beaux-Arts building in the historic quarter of Old Montreal, the St Paul opened in 2001 as Canada’s first ever boutique hotel. The 119-room property, designed by Montreal-based design firm Borrallo Interiors offers a timeless blend of past and present, and an innovative design that maintains the integrity of the building’s original architecture. Bold juxtapositions of colour and texture heighten the senses and transport guests on a visual journey throughout their stay. Masculine elements like straight cuts and strong lines collide with feminine expressions found in the fashion-inspired fabrics to create a soothing paradox

I recently organized an offsite meeting in Montreal at the St. Paul. First the location is fantastic and it was great to walk around Old Montreal and take in the sites. The rooms are updated and I slept so well there. I worked with Joanie at the St. Paul for all my meeting and hotel needs. She was on site and I was able to reach her in minutes if I had any questions. The meeting ran perfectly. The room was a great size so we could have breakouts and they supplied all of our A/V needs. We used their food service as well for Breakfasts, breaks and lunches. The food was fantastic and plentiful. We will be back.
Hi, my employer, Autodesk, recently organized an off-site in Montreal at the end of July. We chose the St Paul Hotel as our accommodation. Our point of contact with the Hotel St Paul, their group & events coordinator, Joanie Gueye, was really awesome. We had a few challenges to overcome in the planning and Joanie was able to help us all along the way. Everyone was very happy with their stay at the hotel, everyone wants to come back. Thank you Joanie for your great service, communication, and collaboration! Thank you to everyone at the Hotel St Paul as well! We look forward to working with you again in the near future!
This was a true design hotel experience. We stayed in a luxurious Junior suite with amazing views of the city and the Lachine canal. The decor was bold, colorful and very inviting including innovative European design touches. The staff was warm accommodating and very helpful. We also loved that it was very close to old Montreal but far enough away that we had peace and quiet when we wanted it. We have found our new go to hotel in Montreal.
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful slice of Montreal - Old Montreal! Enjoyed the hotel look, cleanliness and close proximity to the treasures of Old Montreal! Staff was helpful, polite and professional. Merci.
We arrived at hotel St. Paul in Old Montreal and were greeted by Lorianne at guest check in. She was gracious, professional and quick to ensure we were provided with everything we needed for our stay including dinner reservations. Our room was beautifully decorated with a So Ho feel, the bed was super comfy, shower pressure was strong and hot, warm bathrobe and Nespresso coffee Bar were all perfect. Will come back again.
We spent a long weekend in Montreal, our first trip to this lovely city, and picked Hotel St. Paul because of its location and it is part of the Marriott umbrella and it took our points. There weren't many people staying there because unbeknownst to us, it was one of the few weekends were nothing much at all was going on. For that reason, I think we got upgraded to a junior suite which was pretty cool since we were celebrating a milestone anniversary! We didn't dissuade room service and it was nice that our bed was nicely appointed after being gone all day, and the bathroom restocked. Really nothing to ding the hotel on other than I think they are suffering from staff shortages just like everywhere, so there was no concierge that we ever saw, but we are rather self sufficient so that was not a big deal. I was a little surprised that we were asked for a CA$400 "room deposit" which was a point of confusion at check in, which was run on our credit card, although only what we spent at the hotel was deducted from it. I'd would return here if I wanted to stay close to Old Montreal.…
We had a fine stay here until our 2021 CR-V was stolen from the hotel parking lot across the street—in broad daylight. The theft was caught on the hotel security camera, but of course the vehicle has not been recovered. One employee said this was not the first time it had happened. Figuring out how to get home to Massachusetts was a bear, and while the hotel did accommodate the late checkout we asked for and tried unsuccessfully to help us find a rental car to get home, there was very little spontaneous empathy or customer service. They would not agree to a price adjustment other than to remove the parking fee from our bill. Stay here if you like, but don’t park here.
I recently stayed at St Paul. I found the hotel to be in a very Central Location a block from the Old City but on a street with some excellent restaurants. The Hotel is in a really nice old building with a nice stylish lobby. The room was very large with a very comfortable bed and a nice bathroom with a large tub the room was super quiet. The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful when we had questions. The hotel will park your car for you for a fee or you can park yourself at one of the public lots close to the hotel. The areas that I thought could use some improvement were. In the room, the refrigerator had drinks for sale but if you wanted free bottled water you had to ask the front desk. In a boutique hotel, I would expect slippers would be in the room and bottled water. Again you had to ask the front desk. The room had Shutters for shades but the shutters had holes that let light in so in the morning you had light early. I believe shutters our only for the top floor rooms. The toiletries were not what I would expect from a hotel of this standard so that was disappointing as well. Lastly, if the hotel reviews this review might I suggest putting a pic of Old Montreal in the room on the wall. In the end, I would recommend St Paul to travelers for a nice comfortable stay.…
It’s hard to be fair after COVID when so many places are short-staffed but our room wasn’t turned over until after 5pm most days. Location is ideal, close to tourist areas but quiet. Room was nice but not exceptional in any way. I am now typing to meet TripAdvisors 200 character minimum…
This hotel is the WORST. They claimed to be refunding money they were overcharging me and my partner the fee, they charged me 2X and my partner 1X of the refund fee and after five days they STILL won't resolve it and claim that they have processed this refund. Do not stay.
