We came to Montreal, a group of 8 of us, looking for a low budget no frills hotel in the center of everything so we didn't have to uber everywhere. This hotel is getting four stars because it gave us what we needed , not because it's a four star hotel. Going into this I was terrified after reading the...

We had to swallow 2 nights at this interesting hotel when we (Dutch) booked for Montreal. Some collaboration with Royal Dutch Airlines forced us to stay there or ... just loose the money. The room seemed at first glance to be clean but under the beds we found several used condoms and some traces of an extensive use of crack,...

The rooms are inexpensive for a central location close to a subway but it is for a reason. The place has not been renovated in decades, the wallpaper is peeling off in the bathroom, the room smells of old carpets, the breakfast room is cramped, the breakfast itself is very limited and there is no free parking. The overall value...

This hotel is not safe. A credit card was stolen from our room. The cleaning hours are odd, only wanting to clean when we were in the room in the late afternoon. Most hotels have rooms cleaned before checkin at 3pm.

My two teen boys and I took in the Jazz Festival and Cirque du Soleil while staying at Hotel des arts. We were looking for an inexpensive hotel that was very well located. This was the place. The location is not just near Place des Arts, it's also very convenient to a subway/metro station. We walked most places, rode city...

So I reserved this hotel a couple in advance so I could take my cousin visiting to see Montreal. The day of I couldn't make it to Montreal for very good reasons so I call the front desk to let them know and see if out of compassion they wouldn't charge me or at least give me some sort of...

Our stay at Hotel Des Arts was quite above expectations after reading other reviews here. The rooms and breakfast were good; which is what you pay for. The location and reception staff were notably excellent. We sadly forgot the name of the gentleman who we had great conversations with... (Former hockey player?!) One place for improvement would be the speed...

Our whole experience was tainted due to the fact that we got robbed within 5 minutes of checking in. I parked my car literally in front of the hotel where there was signage indicating '15 minute hotel parking.' We must have been inside for less than 10 minutes checking in when we went outside to get our belongings, and low...

No guaranteed parking. There were a couple of spots on the street that were full when we got there around 2pm. There was a 24 hour parking place a bit further down the street, for 10$ but the spots were also very limited. We had to wait in the car for someone to leave. We read the reviews about bed...

We tried this hotel booked it with Booking.com during jazz festival. The only positive is the location. Otherwise we were given a small dusty old room with stains and wet spots on the ceiling. We were told there are better and larger rooms and saw one but had no access to it. The breakfast was minimal.

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
