We love our Fairmont hotels, and this is our go-to hotel in Montreal. Even if it's not located in Old Montreal as we'd like to, it is ideal for business travellers. I actually like the location as it is across from a majestic cathedral Marie, Reine du Monde, and within few blocks it is a lively square (in front of... More

Dear GlobetrotterRara – We’re delighted to know Fairmont the Queen Elizabeth is your go-to hotel in Montreal especially due to its great central location and delicious Sunday Brunch. As you probably know, the hotel is currently closed for a one year renovation project and we look forward to seeing you again when we reopen. Best regards. More

We stayed at the Queen Elizabeth on June 18th. Their last night before a huge renovation project. It will be missed. We always enjoyed our stay at "La Grande Dame". The staff was always welcoming. It's true it was in need for a major renovation. Just can't wait for their reopening in June 2017/1

The first and last impression of this hotel were the extremely rude doormen. Upon arriving with large suitcases, my family soon discovered that we were on our own with carrying them into the lobby where not a single employee volunteered the help us with our luggage. When leaving and exiting the hotel for the airport, a middle aged doorman was... More

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel for f1 in montreal. Came in with a group. Check in was breeze. The location is nice, close to shops. Everything works fine. Cant fault this hotel but not overly impressed also. Dont like the mattress. Its too soft for my taste. But breakfast was good. Staff there were very friendly.

This hotel is not cheap, but the location is perfect to take a stroll on St. Catherine St. (the main shopping street) and adjacent streets. If you want to go further the hotel is next to the train station and the Metro. A couple of the elevators go down to the level where there is direct access to the train... More

This is a great hotel, centrally located with great staff and customer service. We arrive at the hotel for the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix which is a huge deal and the city fills with out -f-towners. Lobby area and reception is big and nicely decorated classy and elegant with a French influence but simple. Rooms are average in space... More

After two weeks touring Cuba, it was luxury to stay in a Fairmont Hotel. Just get off the train, and walk upstairs to the hotel. Its that easy. We ate in the piano bar downstairs almost every night, and once for lunch. Very good. Join the Presidents club, and you get free WiFi.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
