I've stayed here the last two visits to Montreal. Very affordable room rates and located on Rue Ste. Catherine's near UQAM. It's geared toward a younger crowd but is accommodating to all types. Great location for a very reasonable price. Don't be put off by the fact it's located next to a sex shoppe. On my second visit, I went... More

This was my first trip out of the country and I had no clue what to expect. Thank goodness that I chose this hotel. It was clean. The staff members were very friendly and accommodating. And the location was perfect. All within one block was the bank, many eateries, the bus stop and the subway station. I'd recommend the Hotel... More

If you have to have a name brand hotel with all the amenities and comforts this is NOT for you. But if you want to be mere centimeters from the exciting fast-paced vibrant heart of a very festive city you can't go wrong staying here. When I'm someplace like Montreal I need a clean place to sleep and take a... More

We were two couples sharing a room with a queen size bed and hide a bed. The room was clean and updated. The beds were comfortable. Wi-FI was good and tv channels was complete. The continental breakfast was included and good. Coffee, juices, yogurt, bagels, toasts, hard boiled eggs, croissants, jam and cream cheese. As for parking, you need to go... More

Stayed at Hotel Abri du Voyageur 7-12 July 2016. Clean, quiet(*) and comfortable. Quiet has an asterik because the annual International Jazz Festival was held on nearby streets, but when I took my hearing aids out before going to bed, the room was pleasantly quiet. (The festival was only a few days; it is not a year-round event.) My room... More

My mother and I recently stayed at this hotel for one night. We loved the authentic feel of the hotel however the bed was horribly uncomfortable, and the room was very small. We tossed and turned all night. Also, the " immaculate washrooms" were out of soap our whole stay and had urine on the seats. The location was superb... More

This is a very old hotel 18 something. It has been remodeled recently. The room we have stayed in was spacious and well equipped. The only downside of the hotel is not having elevators nor parking space. The breakfast is delicious! Don't miss the croissant. Staff really nice to

My booking with this hotel was based on reviews and photos on booking websites. It looked nice and with a great location near metro stops and the 747 bus stop (airport bus). My room and the corridor (with shared bath) was nowhere near any of the photos on Tripadvisor. It looked old, not very well maintained. It looked scruffy (but... More

I stayed in this hotel for 9 nights with my family including my wife and my little son. We supposed it would be a hotel but it was a hostel with lots and lots of stairs to get into our room. The hostel doesn't have a bell man to help with the baggage, and for people like us travelling overseas... More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Dating back to 1876, Abri du Voyageur Hotel has been renovated in keeping with its historical character. High ceilings, bare brick walls, maple-wood floors, continental doors are reminiscent of the past and give our hotel a unique personality. Abri du Voyageur Hotel is not an impersonal, run-of-the-mill cookie factory type hotel but is part and parcel of the history and evolution of the Faubourg St.Laurent and of Montreal.Abri du Voyageur Hotel is adjacent to the Quartier des Spectacles Hotel. Each hotel is in a separate building linked by a common lobby and reception. A single entry serves both hotels in a 4 storey centennial building. All our rooms and studios are equipped with an air-conditioner and cable television. We also offer free wireless internet for all our guests.A friendly professional staff and a warm ambiance offers you a welcomed refuge in the midst of the hustle and bustle of downtown Montreal. Relax in our ‘hotel de charme’ and visit by foot Montreals’ boutiques, cinemas, restaurants, museums, art galleries, sport events, shows, bars and discothèques. Metro St.Laurent ( subway station) is less than a block from the hotel and will bring you in 10 to 15 minutes to those few sites not in walking distance ( ex. Doré Beach on the St.Lawrence River, Mount Royal, the Botanical Gardens, the Biodôme, the Casino of Montreal). What a dream location! ... more   less
