Hostels are great when you’re just in town for one night and don’t need more than a bed to sleep on and maybe breakfast to get you going. The Montreal location is just a 15 minute walk from the VIA station, so easy to get to since I was taking the train from Ottawa. I was checking in on a... More

Hello and thank you for the review. Indeed, we believe we have a nice selection of local beers. Max, who is in charge of the hostel's bistro/bar is very knowledgeable about beers as he brews beer for himself. Come and ask for him so he can recommend the best option for your tastes! Santé! Sociable, lovely bar which serves food, organised activities. The staff were very helpful and printed a couple of pages I needed printed for me for no charge. They also provided me with information about buses, local activities etc. and sell tickets for hockey games and tourist attractions at reception.

I stayed for two nights in a 4 bed female dorm and had a great time. The hostel is central- super close to the metro and the 747 to the airport- and very reasonably priced. There is a good atmosphere, there's always something going on in the bar downstairs without being too rowdy or intimidating for people travelling alone to... More

My brother and I stayed 14/10 -16/10. I've never stayed in a hostel before so I was a little adamant at staying in one in Montreal, but looking at the reviews, more good than bad, decided to take the plunge. It's very basic, since I knew we were going to be out and about, we didn't mind the room, as... More

Average hotel, rooms are ok, we haven't got a great greeting when arriving. Desk clerk did not mention that work construction would start at 6:30am Cleanness in the bathroom is not so great, for a hotel downtown Montréal I had maybe higher expectations than what I'm used to with other hotel in the same area. Direction offers free breakfast for... More

Hello and thank you for sharing your thoughts about your stay. I am not sure if we really are the place you stayed at during your stay in Montréal since we are not a hotel, but a hostel and that we do not have construction works done at the hostel itself. In all cases, I hope that you had a... More

Best HI to stay at in a city in Canada - centrally located, near the metro, great rooms, super fast wifi, free breakfast, and a bar downstairs which also serves food when you don't feel like cooking :) Really enjoyed my stay here.

Rooms are simple, but comfortable and clean. Location is great - few steps from the subway, walking distance to downtown, and close to Bell Centre, if you're in town for a concert. Breakfast was a plus as well.

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
