Due to a workers strike we were unable to use the pool or hot tub and had booked this hotel based on those amenities. We had no knowledge that this was going to happen. Also during breakfast we had to listen to a protest happening in the lobby. The hotel did not apologize or offer any kind of discount when... More

The hotel is a bit over rated and over priced. There are more comfortable and accommodating properties in the area. I expected though, that their reservation system would be accurate. I changed a reservation about 8 weeks prior to my trip only to find that it had not been changed and I had been charged a no show fee and... More

Strange hotel. It is a combination office, hotel and convention building. The lobby of the hotel is on the 10th floor. The lobby is like living in the late 60's when the building was built. I felt a part of the "Brady Bunch" show. The location is great. Across from the train station, couple of blocks from St. Catherine Street... More

It is a top hotel already. The reason that I don't give it a 5 stars because I always believe there may have something better. The parking is about $23 Canadian dollars self-park and $29 C (after tax) for valet. There are many parking garages around that area. But this parking is right under the lobby so the elevator will... I'm told that this hotel was built to handle the crowds for Expo '67. That makes it about 50 years old. However, they keep it very nice. You reach the hotel via elevators that go up to the 10th floor. The entire property is reached from there, sometimes via short staircases. The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms... More

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Bonaventure for our first wedding anniversary weekend. The hotel is in a great location, near transportation and also walkable. The room was pretty clean, although the bathroom was a little worn. The Bistro Restaurant seemed to only be open for breakfast. We enjoyed the food there and also in the Kube Restaurant. The... I chose this hotel for its accessibility to transit options and its location. It is nice enough and clean enough, but could use a bit of updating. It feels more like a business travel hotel than a vacation hotel, which is fine, but the personal touch was missing. It is meshed into a high rise office building and the layout... More

While I am sure when it was first built this place was it, it has not been updated since it opened and it looks very tired. More importantly the architects of the hotel indeed the whole bonaventure complex should be shot. Long long corridors to endless sets of stairs. Very few bathrooms anywhere in the whole complex. And forget about... More

Super average hotel with a good location in the Center of town. There are several reviews about how weird this hotel is, and it is true. Honestly does not feel like a Hilton, at all. More like a Holiday Inn or high end Motel 6. Place is dirty unkept and super average service. Things smell of cleaning products. Pass unless... More

Hotel Bonaventure is in a great central location in the city, a 20 minute walk from pretty much every major attraction. The front desk staff were super helpful and the rooms are nice and clean. Would definitely consider staying here again, Just wanted to mention a couple of cons, but not worth docking them a star. -Strange layout, and lack... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
