We stayed at this hotel on our way to Quebec City and then one night on returning to Toronto. The hotel itself is beautiful - lovely reception areas with gardens surrounding everything and a lovely pool. This idyllic setting belies the shabby, uncomfortable rooms. On our first night, we were put in a room against the elevator shaft (noise and...

Very convenient location. Easy check-in. We stayed here for 2 nights during our family trip to Montreal. The hotel is located in downtown Montréal, walking distance to Old Montreal, the Basilica and other beautiful places. Our room was very clean, good size with 2 queen size comfy beds. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant, the buffet was delicious with...

We were here for a conference for 6 days. Meeting rooms and restrooms were very clean. This is a penthouse hotel on the 10th floor with 2 floors of rooms. There is a heated pool that is heated all year . Pool area was very nice and clean. This is a unique design with textured walls in lobby and hall....

I attended a conference this week and found a good majority of the serving staff and bartenders to be very poor service. They spend more time talking to one another versus serving. I felt that really couldn't care about who they were interacting with. The location of this hotel id decent but lobby is much higher and always need to...

Thank you for your nice comment about our bellhops and our location. I am sorry to read that our servicing staff and bartenders not giving you the level of service you deserve. Please be assured that this will be looked into. We hope to see you again soon!

If you find yourself in Montreal, you will love this hotel and the people that work there. I attended a conference and everyone was so nice. The rooms were large and well maintained. The food was good and the executive lounge was awesome. Very nice location and rooftop greenery.

I had stayed here several times in the past when it was a Hilton. Now it is independent and the new owner has been working on some facelifts. It is a truly remarkable property located on top of an office complex. It has outdoor ponds with waterfalls, beautiful trees and quiet seating areas to enjoy the tranquility. It is a...

Lots of fun activities throughout downtown old Montreal. Great food, people are very kind when if we don't speak French. Go to Notre Dame Basilica, say your prayers. it is soul moving. Beautifully soul moving.

Stayed one night in May. Room was super comfy and the location is close to everything on foot (old port, downtown, quartier latin, quartier des spectacles, etc.). Nice outdoor heated pool. The hotel is old, but well kept and clean.

I travelled from Ottawa with seven friends for an overnight trip to Montreal to see the Chagall exhibit and celebrate 40 years as a book club. Hotel Bonaventure was a wonderful choice... easy walking distance to museums and shopping, year-round indoor/outdoor pool, close to the train station and near the old port. The hotel itself is a delightful surprise. On...

I come to Montreal on business every month or do. Prices were high this time, so I tested the hotwire hotrate offer here (hotrate has given me some good hotels in the past). This was a massive miss. Hotel is terribly run down, poorly lit, badly laid out - it is supposed to be on one floor, but that is...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
