Pretty good hotel, with standard, nice rooms in an area that's both central & quiet. I'd be totally happy to stay here again. My one complaint: they have onsite underground parking, & the entrance & exit gates to the parking don't work properly. If someone else exits/enters right before you, or takes too long to exit/enter ahead of you, the gate won't work for you, & then you get stuck. Twice I had to get out of our stuck car & go into the hotel, wait in line behind people checking in, & ask that they please remotely open the gate, & one of those times, the hotel staff had a hard time understanding what I was asking & didn't open the gate. My husband sat in the car at the gate with a line of honking cars behind him for about fifteen minutes until someone from the condo building next door came & opened it for him. …
I stayed one night and I was made to feel comfortable and welcomed at check in. Staff were lovely and helpful 👍🏻 I was able to store my luggage in a safe place prior to check in as well. Comfy beds 😊 Would recommend for either quiet or social life with it being a great location to get anywhere in Montreal!
I came for a medical training in September 2022. - Bad customer service. Dubious practice on room rates. When I first booked in June, I was told I could book with a preferential rate from the training organiser. It turned out the preferential rate was more expensive than booking at the hotel directly (you get 15% discount if you stay more than 3 nights). I called the hotel, and the lady in charge said they couldn’t do anything, she wouldn’t apply the 15% discount on top of the conference preferential rate. That seemed fair to me, as I understand hotels lost a lot of business during the pandemic and tried to balance the finances. At that time I booked a room with 2 queen beds but I wasn’t sure if my husband and son would join, so I declared it would be for 1 adult only. In September, I contacted the hotel and asked to update the room occupancy to 2 adults and 1 child. THEY CHANGED the room rate and rose the price (instead of less than $1000 for 4 nights, it went to $1300!). When I asked why, they said bc I changed the booking, so they update to the new rate at the time of the change. It is still exactly the same room! I don’t mind paying more in taxes bc more people stay in the same room, but changing the rate, when they knew I was part of the conference and wouldn’t change hotel, was a bit lame… I called the same conference lady and asked if I could revert back to the conference rate. She said no, bc the conference rate has expired and she wouldn’t give it as a commercial gesture because she gets commissions on the bookings… what a bad customer service! Not sure if it was done on purpose, the room I got was a room just outside the elevator, so noisy… And we checked in, the 2 people in front of us complained very loudly about the hotel… - Room not clean and missing toiletries The beds and pillows were comfortable. They didn’t have a duvet cover, but 2 flat sheets… the duvets and the pillows were yellow from stains. The bedside tables were dusty. Carpets dirty (not the same colour, although the same patterns, as the ones in the corridors). In the bathroom, there were only soap bars, no shampoo or conditioners. I only got them because one morning, I saw a cleaning lady in the corridors and asked if she had any shampoos etc. To my surprise, she did and gave them to me. - Conference rooms neglected We had tea/coffees and pastries in the morning of the first day… but they were not refilled after lunch or the days after… unless we asked. And even after asking, we wouldn’t get hot water for tea… The toilets near the conference rooms either had missing hand soap or missing paper towels to dry your hands…. I get it that the hotel wanted to save money after being under occupied during the pandemic… but for a 4 star hotel, I expected better and better customer service. The hotel is well located, in the city centre… but I won’t be back if I have to come to another conference in Montréal.…
DO NOT STAY HERE. Falsely advertises itself as a 4 star hotel on booking sites and charges exorbitant rates when it's 2 or 3 star max. I had to book this place because nothing else was available and I got absolutely ripped off. Rooms are dated and smelly. The dining room looks like a subterranean 80's cafeteria. Lobby sofas are completely covered in mystery stains. Elevator has a bent door that screeches every time it opens. Front desk staff is useless. There was no bottled water in the room so I went to ask for it at the front desk, they refer me to a 30 year old vending machine that only takes coins. I ask for change. Sorry they don't keep change. But I saw them hand out a bottle of water to another grumpy guest while I was checking in earlier. Dude where's my bottle of water? That reference is incidentally from the last year this place was thoroughly cleaned.…
Not worth the price, room was a flashback to the 80’s. Bright blue bathroom tiles, only one person can fit in it at once. My husband wanted to brush his teeth while I was blow drying my hair and he couldn’t . There was a large pillar smack dab in the middle of the room right beside the bed. The A/C was so loud I couldn’t sleep. It wasn’t necessarily dirty but because it was so old it felt dirty. I wouldn’t stay here again even if it was half price. The charging port on the radio didn’t work and neither did the in room telephone ! We had to use our own phone to call front desk.
this hotel and the staff was SO NICE!, helpful and friendly. The hotel was very clean and the location is great. Luis the receptionist was thoughtful and down to earth. I will definitely stay here again.
We stayed here for our Montreal visit. Helpful staff. Great breakfast. Well placed to see the sights in Montreal. We mainly took taxis but close to metro stop too. Good shower. Good air conditioning as well. Room comfortable. Laundry service available. We didn’t eat in the restaurant in the evening as we were told there were very limited vegetarian options. I would stay there again.
You are lucky to see this review since many go by the majority of positive reviews. We stayed one night a few days ago with a rate of $500/night and when shown the room, were shocked to see it was a condo building converted to a hotel with a fake posh-sounding classic name. The room was crammed, with hardly any space to move around and no sofas, nothing. The A/C unit was rusted and broken and noisy and kicking up dust and we had to shut it down and prefer the heat to the noise and dust. Avoid this hotel and choose any well-known chain who are more responsible and reliable.
We were very pleasantly surprised with all aspects of our stay at Le Nouvel Hotel. The room was large and nicely set out. The bedding was of the highest quality and we slept like babies! We ate at the courtyard cafe and our meals were very good. Our server Rosie was a delight ! The front desk staff was more than helpful with our wish to book a Grey Line tour. They were friendly both upon arrival and departure. I highly recommend this hotel as it is well worth the money.
It probably was new and nice once but now it's a run-down hotel with very dark rooms, dark furniture and a constant smell of people cooking. The pool is small but nice and clean and it's pretty close to the center and not too far from a metro. I think it's too expensive for what you get. What you pay for must be the pool, I guess!
