I went to Montreal with my niece and booked a suite at Hotel de l'Institut based on the recommendation of a friend, and he was so right! The room was really gorgeous, with a balcony that overlooked the city, and the neighborhood was wonderful, particularly the restaurants and cafes all along Rue St Denis. We parked our car in the... Hotel l'Institut was a great little find for our Montreal 4 night stay. Occupying only the 6th and 7th floors of the cooking and hotel school's high rise gives it a boutique feeling. The students who served us were earnest and eager to please, especially Cedric. The included breakfast was quite nice. We slept well in the nicely air conditioned... More

I stayed in a balcony room on the 7th floor over a weekend in mid-August 2016. We arrived early after disembarking from a cruise in Montreal and didn't expect our room to be ready - and it wasn't. However, staff was very friendly and stored our bags. The Sherbrooke Metro stop is literally right next door - about 50' from... More

Found on TripAdvisor, read the reviews and found them to be very helpful. This is a marvelous facility with room/food/service superb! The breakfast buffet (included) was varied and delicious. The evening meal selections were prepared, presented, and served in epic style. Highly recommend for all types of travel.

My friend and I stayed here for three nights. The building is kind of strange from the outside -- it's a large school/university building of which the hotel rooms take up two floors (7th and 8th). There are parts of the buildings you'll never see as a guest (classrooms, etc., I assume). But it's a very nice hotel, definitely on... More

I stayed here recently as a tourist with my husband but I've stayed here before on business too. Fantastic location to be based for exploring the city if you're a tourist. On the edge of the Plateau area so good boutique shopping on St. Laurent and St. Denis as well as a good variety of restaurants within easy walking distance.... More

The hotel was clean, comfortable, conveniently located and well priced. It's on the edge of the plateau and the Latin neighborhoods. And the metro stops right in the building. It's a modern place, not for someone seeking old world charm. Staff was friendly, responsive and helpful. Another plus was that breakfast was included.

We been to The Institut for 4 consecutive years and we love it!! The hotel style is modern and very comfortable . The room is spacious, with fantastic bed and pillows. The balcony is great to see the city and drink wine. The breakfast in the morning is a pleasure with such a selection of great food and the marvelous... More

The hotel is run by the students who are studying hotel and hospitality management. Service was outstanding- staff was knowledgeable of the area which is located among many bistros and restaurants and across from a park. Walkable to many other parts of town. Rooms are super clean, spacious, and have all the amenities needed - all have a balcony which... More

We chose this hotel for several reasons, price, location, parking on site, included breakfast and the balcony. We were very pleased with our choice. Yes this is a training hotel but that never affected our stay, service was prompt, friendly, helpful and pleasant. Our room was very clean, up to date, very quiet, lovely balcony and view and housekeeping did... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
