The location was absolutely fantastic. Easy walk to everything fun!! Very safe area even late late at night. Public transportation at the doorstep. Staff was exceedingly friendly. Our room was comfy, well appointed and very clean. Parking seemed pricy at 27/day (with in out privileges) but, after wasting my vacay-time researching other options and getting a parking ticket 😬 we... More

Had a wonderful time in for 9 days and this place was a large part of the reason. Super friendly desk folks, really some are concierge material, helping you in so many ways especially if it's your first trip there. Nice simple breakfast, the lady who runs it even made me an open face two cheese sandwich in the micro-wave,... More

Whilst the location is OK for seeing/doing the touristy stuff the Hotel is no good for anyone who has trouble with steps and stairs. Didn't see anything about steps in the Hotel Guide. There is no Lift but they do have Valets to help with luggage etc. Staff very helpful . Room I had was excellent, very clean, comfortable and... More

A delight on Sherbrooke, centrally located, part of the Meridian Hotel Group so service is exceptional. This is a boutique. bed and breakfast. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Hotel layout is unique. Lots of hidden stairwells. Will definitely return. Thanks!

This is an old hotel that has been around for many years. It has a classic look and is very clean and tastefully decorated. The beds are extremely comfortable. Our room was facing the back of the hotel so it was very quiet even though the hotel is situated on a busy street. If you're looking for modern, this would... More

My niece and I spent a pleasant three night stay at Chateau Versaille. We had a very spacious room with two queen size beds and Windows on opposite walls. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our breakfast was included and it was more than satisfactory. Included was a choice of hot and cold beverages, toast, bagels, muffins, croissants, cereal,... More

Went here for a long weekend and to watch hockey. Once we figured out where we were, we were able to access the Metro system with ease. The room we were in was large but the temperature was impossible to control. One night we were freezing and the next we were boiling with the windows open. The washroom was rather... More

The Chateau Versailles in Montreal is a cute property with steps up from the street at the entrance, making it very picturesque. It is a comfortable and quirky place. The hotel inhabits an old building, with lots of staircases, and navigating the corridors can be a bit of a challenge. The deluxe room we had was spacious but the bathroom... More

I am bookending my language stay in Quebec with two trips to Montreal sandwiching the trip. I arrived on a Friday to a very cheery woman at the front desk. She was professional, courteous, and quick. My room was absolutely beautiful. This hotel is all about the little touches. It's a touch of class in every corner. From the greatly... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
