Booked for 2 nights, checked in to a small double room, then offered an upgrade ( our wedding anniversary) so moved to a larger room and unpacked, then noticed a soaking wet section of carpet by the radiator/air con. Upgraded again to a suite on ground floor which was very nice. However the next day our room was not serviced... More

found this hotel to be quiet and clean. The one thing we can fault is that we had no air conditioning control in our room and had to call maintenance to get some air on. Also, there is no elevator so the steps can be a bit much if you're in and out sightseeing during the day. But the staff... More

I've stayed here before and would again in a heartbeat. The only reason this place isn't four out of five is the in-accessibly (lots of stairs, flight to front door and to rooms) and the age (I plugged in the iron and blew room fuse and had to shower and dress in the dark). Also virtually no amenities. BUT -... More

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to Concordia and its bargain price. The hotel is only one or two short blocks to all the downtown Concordia buildings, which was perfect for us as we were visiting a family member there. We were in room 308, which is in the back facing another building. This worked for us because there... More

The hotel is in a converted brownstone, absolutely charming. The staff was very pleasant. The hotel was super clean and sleek. Our room was very small, but it's European style and we weren't in our room much, just to sleep. The continental breakfast was perfect. The location was great. In walking distance to Crescent, Bishop and St. Catherine Streets - that's... More

Famiily members always stay at this quaint small hotel right on Sherbrooke Street West. It is directly across the street from a big "name" hotel. The rooms are charming, many with fireplaces, high tray ceilings and some rooms face a beautiful courtyard. The breakfasts include delicious croissants, pastries, cheeses, etc. You can grab a bus to go to the waterfront,... More

Chateau Versailles is a bit tired hotel. All interior and decoration is a bit shabby and old-fashioned- maybe that's Montréal style. The hotel remains me of a student dormitory with long corridors and limited common space and services. There is no elevator and plenty of steep step- so not for people with limited mobility. Many things did not work: old... More

We spent one night last weekend. Room was clean and comfortable. Front desk staff was friendly and personable. The hotel is just a couple of blocks from the fine arts museum and the restaurants and shopping on Ste. Catherine. As others have mentioned, there are stairs. The breakfast buffet was fine. I thought the price was a little high ($225... More

It's definitely not a chateau, but rather linked townhouses. Sadly not for those with serious mobility problems/small children; steep stairs externally and many small flights internally. But help is available from the hotel over the road. Contrary to other reviews, we found reception and other staff friendly and helpful. Good location - close to metro, buses, major museums and McGill.... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
