Just got back from 6 great nights in Montreal. We stayed in this lovely little hotel, and we thought the rooms were beautiful, the bed comfortable and location fantastic for what we were looking for, but truly the service made our trip! There was absolutely no request that Anne-Marie and her team found too troublesome. We did not have a... More

Finding this hotel was troublesome as streets around are being closed, blocked off or subject to diversions. There was work going on everywhere. Thank goodness we persevered as inside is peaceful, calm and welcoming. Our room was spacious (no view to talk of) and well furnished. Staff are courteous and very helpful - this was especially good as we could... More

Probably one of the best hotel we have stayed at in all of our travels. The staff was most helpful and was very informative about all that Montreal had to offer. Room was very well appointed and spacious. The Bonaparte restaurant next door was an added plus as it was probably the best restaurant we frequented during our travels through... More

This was a wonderful dining experience from seating to dessert! We were sat in a cozy window, quiet and comfy. The menu and meal was first rate, service spot on...taking our time not rushed and savoring each bite and sip of wine. We are staying here and breakfast is included. Several, choices on the menu, all cooked to order. Again seated... More

We have just returned from a trip to Canada, and stayed at the Bonaparte for three nights. The room rate included breakfast, which was from an excellent choice of hot breakfasts. The room was of a good size, clean and the staff so helpful and friendly.

Lovely boutique hotel within walking distance of everything in old Montreal. Only a block from Notre Dame Cathedral. Meant very good restaurants nearby. The concierge met us, helped us park our car, helped carry our luggage, and had champagne for us as we checked in. The room was beautiful and and quite cozy. Breakfast is also included. Everything about this... More

My husband and I stayed at Auberge Bonaparte in Old Montreal for 2 nights over the long weekend. The hotel is in the heart of Old Montreal with access to tourist attractions, great restaurants and shopping. The hotel is small and the rooms are very clean and simple with actual art on the walls. I really loved the gleaming oak... More

Kudos to Trip Advisor and its new service for booking hotels right from the TA site. We chose Bonaparte after reading many Montreal reviews, booked on TA, and could not be happier. We especially liked the "can-do" attitude of all the staff. Though the building is old we enjoyed a modern updated bathroom with a large shower. As other reviewers... More

Our experience (3 adults) at the Auberge Bonaparte was extraordinary in that each of us came to the same conclusion: we could not have made a better choice. The staff, the amenities, the hospitality factor, the flowers, the housekeeping, the mattress; nothing was amiss! Indeed, everything was perfect.

Perfect location, beautiful and comfortable hotel with a great restaurant. The staff was awesome too! We liked that it was in walking distance to many places and that the hotel was in the heart of everything.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
