I never write reviews but I felt the need to for this awesome establishment. It was EXACTLY what we were hoping for. From the service, the room, the location, everything was truly a pleasure. I did not feel like I was in a tiny hotel room, but rather my own apartment with amazing touches to make it feel very comfortable... More

Spent 4 glorious nights (Nov. 22-26) at the Auberge du Vieux-Port and can't wait to return to this perfectly located in Old Montreal and superb hotel. The room assigned to us (#502) was large, well appointed and faced the St. Lawrence River, the staff (especially Lara and Tom) were extremely helpful and friendly, and the WiFi worked very well. Disappointed I booked this hotel (stayed there in July) through a travel agent, and asked for a room with a view. I was travelling with my 2 daughters aged 10 and 13. They told me we could have a roll away bed in our room no problem. Well, my room was on 1st floor (room 103) on the view side... More

Visited here with family over Thanksgiving. Stayed in the old part of the hotel. My room had big windows with a lovely view of the water and the trees, lights at night, foggy mornings. Nothing like sitting in the leather armchair with a latte in the morning watching the city come alive. Thanks to the charming and helpful staff!

Our second visit to this hotel was just as we wanted. We booked a room with a river view and found it relaxing evening in early November to look out over the harbor. First impressions are important. The hotel is at a very safe location and convenient walking distance for all the tourist spots. I like the lobby design . You can tell I like this place because it's my second stay here this year, with multiple prior visits as well. Staff, as always, was so solicitous, and I give a special hats off and thank you to Lara Grafin, who assisted us with a small issue. Top-notch service from all of the desk staff and parking valets, as well... More

Small little hotel with nice rooms. They are small but nice. Comfy beds, nice bathroom with a great shower. Staff very nice and helpful. Gaspar bar is good for drinks. Old Montreal section with plenty of shops and pubs to visit.

One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in for a long time. The staff were great, the room was just perfect with beautiful high ceiling and the noise from the road was minimal. Also the cafe/bar next door is really buzzy in the evening and just great for a really good and inexpensive breakfast.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.

A symbol of Old Montreal's rich history, Auberge du Vieux-Port is the area's only hotel settled along the Saint Lawrence River. The two structures that house its 45 rooms are over a century and a half old and once operated as warehouses, back when the waterway still forged city's life vein. With a classic, skillfully crafted make up, the idyllic inn's decor and architecture breathe an air of authenticity.
