We had a wonderful time in Montreal. The city is full of excellent shops, beautiful scenery, great architecture, excellent restaurants and historic sites. Upon our arrival at, Auberge du Vieux-Port Hotel, we spoke to the concierge, Lara. She gave us an extensive list of interesting places to visit. She also made dinner reservations for us at some of Montreal's better...

An old warehouse converted into a charming rustic boutique hotel. They kept many of the architectural elements of the original building. The location is perfect for walking to events on the river or in the city. Our room was small but adequate and very charming with a modern bath. A window opened to the street below and over looked the...

From the time we pulled up to this elegant small hotel, met by the very courteous and pleasant valet, we knew this was a special place. Situated in old Montreal downtown, with rooms either facing the water or the cobblestone street behind with the infamous shops of old Montreal. Within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, cafes and the Merry...

We had a great time during our stay at l'Auberge du Vieux-Port- I wish we could have stayed longer than one night! The hotel was a great location for us in Old Montreal and our room was beautiful. The exposed brick and wood beams, hardwood flooring and decor were both cozy and luxurious, and I loved the expansive bathroom! We...

I stayed three days from 31 October to 02 November this year. The hotel is in Old Montreal area and the building itself is more than 200 years old- as I was told by the lobby manager. The interiors reflect the old world charm. I was in room No. 203 -towards the rear side -no views. Room was large (with...

I never write reviews but I felt the need to for this awesome establishment. It was EXACTLY what we were hoping for. From the service, the room, the location, everything was truly a pleasure. I did not feel like I was in a tiny hotel room, but rather my own apartment with amazing touches to make it feel very comfortable...

Spent 4 glorious nights (Nov. 22-26) at the Auberge du Vieux-Port and can't wait to return to this perfectly located in Old Montreal and superb hotel. The room assigned to us (#502) was large, well appointed and faced the St. Lawrence River, the staff (especially Lara and Tom) were extremely helpful and friendly, and the WiFi worked very well. Disappointed I booked this hotel (stayed there in July) through a travel agent, and asked for a room with a view. I was travelling with my 2 daughters aged 10 and 13. They told me we could have a roll away bed in our room no problem. Well, my room was on 1st floor (room 103) on the view side...

Visited here with family over Thanksgiving. Stayed in the old part of the hotel. My room had big windows with a lovely view of the water and the trees, lights at night, foggy mornings. Nothing like sitting in the leather armchair with a latte in the morning watching the city come alive. Thanks to the charming and helpful staff!

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A symbol of Old Montreal's rich history, Auberge du Vieux-Port is the area's only hotel settled along the Saint Lawrence River. The two structures that house its 45 rooms are over a century and a half old and once operated as warehouses, back when the waterway still forged city's life vein. With a classic, skillfully crafted make up, the idyllic inn's decor and architecture breathe an air of authenticity. Embrace time-honoured scenery, complemented by our team's warm, personable services. ... more   less
