Stayed here for a romantic anniversary weekend in July 2016. The room was large, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was huge and the rain shower was a treat. The location was perfect, walking distance to most attractions. The breakfast / brunch (included) at the attached restaurant was fantastic and so generous that we usually skipped lunch. There were a few... More

We stayed in their loft apartments just around the corner from the main hotel. We were on Saint Paul St. over the Vieux Port Steakhouse. Beautiful studio apt. with full kitchen and washer and dryer. Only downside it was extremely noisy from street all thru day and late in the night.

Good location in Old Montreal, short walk to Metro stop. Our room, while small, was attractive and very clean with a comfortable bed and nice amenities. The bathroom had an nice shower, very relaxing after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was included in our rate and the food and choices were excellent. The hotel and restaurant... More

This hotel is amazing - perfect for couples looking for a romantic week or weekend! We booked a river front room and the view was wonderful. Bed was extremely comfy, and the room was beautiful with exposed stone walls and very high ceilings. We had complimentary breakfast each morning at the restaurant next door, and WOW!! The food was delicious.... More

Recently visited this excellent small hotel in the Old Town area of Montreal. Lovely accommodations, helpful service, good food in the on-site restaurant. One small matter: the addition of grab bars in shower would be helpful. Would definitely recommend, and would stay there again.

Perfect spot in the old town. A quirky building but well furnished and clean. Our room was at the back and very overlooked by many neighboring Windows! We had to dress and undress with the curtains closed - no nets or blinds or sheets! The breakfast as Gaspars was v good. One morning we are outside on the patio, which... More

We stayed in the hotel for 4 days. The rooms were charming and breakfasts in the adjoining Tavern Gaspar were very good. The staff of the Hotel deserves an A+! They were always helpful and courteous. We would certainly recommend the Hotel.

The Auberge is in a building, that along with the rest of the street was, in the old days, factory's and warehouse's serving the old port. The Auberge has a great staff from the young men in the lobby to the front desk staff. We were a party of 12, any time we needed 3 taxies the front desk made... More

Terrific location in old town within easy walking distance to many sights. We had a beautiful room with exposed brick and a great bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and we had two excellent breakfasts in a the charming and cozy lounge. Great Location in old town. Friendly staff. Expensive and noisy. One slow elevator often filled with non residents for the roof top bar at night so that residents can't get on. They failed to make our early wake up call. They call favored taxis from far away that do not arrive on time rather than taxis on the stand around... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.

A symbol of Old Montreal's rich history, Auberge du Vieux-Port is the area's only hotel settled along the Saint Lawrence River. The two structures that house its 45 rooms are over a century and a half old and once operated as warehouses, back when the waterway still forged city's life vein. With a classic, skillfully crafted make up, the idyllic inn's decor and architecture breathe an air of authenticity.
