#11 of 170 hotels in Montreal
Travelers' Choice
A symbol of Old Montreal's rich history, Auberge du Vieux-Port is the area's only hotel settled along the Saint Lawrence River. The two structures that house its 45 rooms are over a century and a half old and once operated as warehouses, back when the waterway still forged city's life vein. With a classic, skillfully crafted make up, the idyllic inn's decor and architecture breathe an air of authenticity. Embrace time-honoured scenery, complemented by our team's warm, personable services. CITQ 127245

I have stayed in this hotel 4 times in the past 4 times visiting Montreal during the last several years. Its location is perfect for those who want to stay in Old Montreal. It is one of the few properties by the river. Having lunch/breakfast in their restaurant which has a nice view of the street along the river was very relaxing and pleasant. A lot of attraction can be reached by foot and is also not too far of a walk to the subway station. I love the decor of this hotel - trendy yet maintaining an unique old world charm with its exposed stone wall in the center of the old city. I love the beautiful large double casement windows of the rooms. I always stayed at the Signature King Room. It is spacious, comfortable and unique with a particular charm of its own. I particularly like the ones with the stone wall decor and the hotel staff was kind enough to assign me to one like that every time upon my request. The facility is clean, well-equipped and well-positioned. There are bathrobes, slippers, ironing board equipped in the rooms. The only drawback about the room is that it has pedestal sink with no countertop space although there is a shelving unit. It is not very convenient. I would expect a hotel at this category usually has bathrooms for the larger rooms with decent countertop space, especially when the bathrooms are spacious. The staff at the front desk are very responsive and attentive to the customers' needs. There is a nice rooftop terrace café where you can enjoy the view of Montreal. There is also valet parking available for a reasonable price. However, I must say that the price of the rooms have increased quite a bit almost annually during the summer period making it more difficult to afford staying there. I always look forward to staying at this hotel when I visit Montreal.

I am not often gushing with praise on Tripadvisor, but I can wholeheartedly say that I have never had a better hotel experience, and I travel very often. This beautiful, boutique hotel is located in a busy and historic area of Montreal and is a great location for walking if you are hoping to get in some sightseeing or shopping. We booked here semi-last minute when our travel plans to the US changed due to the Coronavirus and this made up for our terrible trip timing. The room we booked was on the Terrace level, and it was gorgeous. The king sized bed was ultimately comfortable and the sheets and duvet were heavenly. This hotel took my feather allergy seriously, which I appreicated. They had a fully stocked mini bar, which is always a neat little bonus if you're in the mood. We ended up purchasing the reuseable bag that was in the room, for $15, it was so cute. The bathroom was gorgeous, with historical style fixtures, a gorgeous jet tub and body spray shower. The room also had bathrobes, slippers and a cozy fireplace. The concierge/front desk staff/valet were amazing! You really felt like anything you needed was going to be taken care of, and the concierge anticipated your needs (I had a postcard I felt awkward to ask them to post, but I didn't have to ask, he anticipated it and it was no issue whatsoever). The valet helped us with our bags was conversational with our son and so very helpful and pleasant. Every need we had was met. The restaurant was closed due to the virus, but the front desk staff lady made us a reservation at Modavie down the street, which was so great. 100% recommend and will not stay anywhere else when I return to Montreal.

My daughter and I arrived in Montreal on Thursday, March 12 amidst concerns of Corona virus. Just after we arrived, the virus was declared a pandemic. The hotel was courteous and so very helpful from the moment we arrived. The hotel is quaint and charming and deserves more than 5*. Everybody was kind and welcoming. We had to extend our stay and they made the process easy. They even offered us umbrellas as we ventured out into the town on our second day here. Thank you to everyone here at this hotel for making our stay feel like home. I will definitely be back with the rest of my family, but when this Corona Virus is over!! A bientot!

Bonjour TorontoIda, In times like this one we have to be kind to one another, even in everyday life we must. It was truly a pleasure to welcome you and thank you for taking the time to share your experience. The Auberge is your home away from home and I’m so happy to hear that you also think that. Once all of this is over and I speak on behalf of everyone, we look forward to welcome you again.

Booked rooms for our granddaughter, my wife, and me for a 4 daY trip to Montreal. The auberge or "inn' in English is located in the old town section of Montreal, not far from the river and a short walk to very good restaurants, an interesting part of the city, and a very cozy feeling. We stayed there last month from 23-27 February. The inn is an old warehouse that has been converted to a very quiet, friendly, well- designed hotel, while preserving the exterior look of its neighborhood. Rooms are very nicely appointed. Some face the St Lawrence river side, others face Rue Saint Paul, an often-busy commercial street, especially in summer. The hotel has a restaurant, Taverne Gaspar, offering breakfast, lunch, brunch, and a light supper, along with a very good selection of drinks. The hotel's rooms are subtly elegant, with exposed brick, hardwood floors, up-to-date and well maintained bathrooms. Service at the reception desk is very friendly and bl-lingual. The reception desk's recommendations of a nearby restaurant for dinner were spot-on. The hotel has no fitness center but has an agreement with a nearby hotel where Auberge guests can work out at no charge.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the St Lawrence River side ... quieter in summer is my understanding.

The hotel is ideally located on the edge of Place Jacques-Cartier, in an excellently renovated historic building (a connected block of historic buildings actually). We have stayed there many times over the years on weekend holidays from our home in Vermont. The staff are excellent -- friendly and helpful, the rooms are great, and the restaurant is fine. On our latest visit we were upgraded to a superior room because we are repeat customers. There are many excellent restaurants and other sights within a short walk of the hotel, including multiple attractions along the river right across the street in front of the hotel.
