When we got to the reception , we had trouble with the employee. Not only we did not understand what he was saying but the price they charged us was higher then the one on the site . Although I called the night before to make sure of the prices , we were changed 108 instead of 70 ..The parking... More

I have visited Montreal for the last 5 years. I go alone and have checked out all the hotels in the Montreal area. I can tell you this, if you are looking for a cheap, close to downtown hotel and there are going to be one or two people in your party, this is the place to go. It has... More

If there is something lower than terrible in the rating-that's Hotel Ste Catherine First off, you have to double check the address when you walk in because it is like walking in to a low class apartment building. The office is on the second floor and..actually there is no first floor. So if you are carrying big luggage carry them... More

I have to agree with the other comments regaring cleanliness – STAY AWAY. The only good quality this “hotel” had for me was the location. But after now being there, that wasn’t good enough either. It was not worth it at all. I travel a lot and stay in many cheap hotels and do not expect a lot. I do... More

Rooms are located on 2nd and 3rd floors. The hotel has its own parking lot, though small. They charge ten dollars per night for parking. The staff is friendly and polite. They speak English. My room was quiet. The subway station is close, one and a half blocks away, and there is a supermarket and a vegetable stand near the... More

This hotel leaves much to be desired! My first introduction to this hotel was awful! The carpet is matted with God knows what and the smell is that of a car tree airfreshener. I followed a woman up the stairs who was bouncing off the walls either drunk or high on something. As I followed her up the steps I... More

Dark and unclean room and hotel. Breakfast is provided in a small room and I was ignore by staff. Hotel is overpriced for what is has to offer. The only positive is its location. Much better hotel or bed and breakfast in the vicinity at same price.

Although I knew I was checking into a low budget hotel and had limited expectations of the services, I did not expect to be treated with distain. The rooms were what I expected--small, smelly, loud and slightly unclean. The complementary breakfast is a cheap muffin and watered down coffee. What was most upsetting is the way in which the manager... More

The place is basic, very very basic but it is inexpensive. Essentially, you get what you pay for. It is a very simple, no frills place. The walls are thin, there was no desk in the room I had, there was a clothes rack instead of a closet, and the breakfast was pretty basic. But is it inexpensive. I wanted... More

We booked it online; expected it wouldn't be a 4 or 5 star hotel, and got what we expected. The entrance carpet should be replaced/cleaned, but the staff were friendly, accommodating, the room was tidy and tiny - specially the bathroom, but at least we didn't have to share it with other visitors. I got to meet other people from... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
