I'm not even going to mention the lack of air conditioning and the smell of cigarette smoke in the room, hey even the fact that there were no blankets was acceptable since it was super-hot. What was completely unacceptable though is the noise the people in the parking lot behind the building made all night. Students playing music, drunks yelling... More

I always wanted to go to nice places in order to ensure quality and comfort. Boy I was in for a surprise this time. I was invited to two events in Montréal this summer. July 30th and August 1st and 2nd, 2015. No good hotel had any available beds. The ones I could find were passed the $300.00 level. To... More

There was no AC, the bed was rubber and unzipped. I actually fell into the crevice of the zipper and spilt water everywhere. There was an unusable terrace. There was WIFI in the lobby, I have paid less then this for a hostel and got a better room, Not worth anyones time or money. The location was awesome, you were... More

The only reason we chose this was because we could get all 13 friends in one space together, with a common area to relax. They let us check in early, which was nice, but the front staff seem like you've offended them the second you open your mouth. The apartment itself was not in the best condition. One of the... More

I stayed at the Residences with the students for a month and my experience was basic. I wasn't expecting much for the low rates I was paying and I was honestly not surprised at all. The rooms were basic with a closet, a work desk and a bed. The mattress was too hard for comfort. I did not need a... More

Where to begin.....first they tried to move us (after booking 6 months in advance) to another facility on the other side of town, then when we arrived, we were placed in a 2 bedroom apartment instead of 2 separate studios (which should be $50 cheaper). Both the bath tub and kitchen drain were clogged so when you were in the... More

The "hotel" has a good location being steps away from historic city with many nice places to be seen. It was clean, and very cheap. If you are with a large family or group, and like to bring your stuff, and could leave with something around 2 stars, will save quite a bit. Other than that the place is quite... More

I stayed here for a little over a month last July - August 2012. I stayed in one of the rooms of 8 people. It has 3 bathrooms (only two with showers) and there was sometimes a wait time, but mostly have three bathrooms for 8 girls was enough! The kitchen has the bare essentials, as in appliances. So bring... More

This place is by far the worst place that I have EVER stayed in. I get that it is a residence and that the price is cheap but it sure was not worth it AT ALL. Only positives - Location was good (however, but I would rather stay in any other motel-hotel-hostel then stay here again). First off it was... More

My sister and I shared a studio residence room during the 2012 Jazz festival in July. We were attracted by the low price of the room ($65 plus tax) and we figured the rooms would lack most of the bells and whistles of a regular hotel or motel. We got less than our expectations. The room was very small (normal... More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
