Booked on short notice because it was cheap and was near Old Montreal (Vieux Montreal). Definitely not fancy and the rooms were a bit dated, but very clean, unique, and everything worked. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Besides price, best thing was location: walking distance to historic sites in Old Montreal (straight down Rue Ste Denis to the Old... More

The hotel was dirty and uncomfortable. The bed actually made our whole bodies sore. The toilet and shower are in the room itself, both hidden behind their respective curtains. The AC wasn't that great and the key to the door was attached to a huge wooden block. The room is small, but that's not too bad.

Paid 165$ for a room that was worth 50$ a night....terrible place, even if it was free i would never go back there...room looked nasty. The tv is as big as a computer screen, there was no dvd player and there was supposed to have one! No refund...No mini fridge...You would think that since you pay 165$ that your gonna... More

Very bizarre hotel. The room was cave-like, and quite large with a little kitchenette. Bed was uncomfortable but not the worst. The part that got me was the lighting... It was so dark even during the day.

I read some good reviews (although mixed) about this place and took a chance, needing a last-minute booking in Montreal. I wish I'd gone elsewhere. My tv was broken, there was ZERO hot water in either the shower NOR the sink, the bed & pillow were totally uncomfy/stained, and there was a bright outdoor security light illuminating my room all... Don't stay here if you want courtesy, manners and good service. It's well over a month (June 2) since I had to cancel a (work) stay here and still no refund despite booking a cancellable room as the hotel manager has apparently gone missing. No contact from the hotel. Surely someone can authorise the refund? £400 is a lot of... More

Location, location and location only nothing else.... Except location nothing good. No Parking, parking on streets only. No Breakfast only Coffee, poor service. Room was small dated, washroom was clean but small, had no soap had to call reception for it. Friendly and very responsive staff.... Location is perfect, close to Resturants, bars and coffee shops.

We paid the price for the Indy weekend. Paid a huge price for a very basic room. The furniture is old and outdated. The room was right next to the meals area and very noisy. The bathrooms were not very well cleaned. Parking was bad. Wouldn't stay here again at all.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighborhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centers, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
