Conveniently located near the bus depot and quick access to other mode of transport via the Berry métro station. Very comfortable and well maintained. Courteous staff willing to go the extra mile to make us feel at home. And lets not forget the crêpes!

We spent three nights here in October. Excellent location in a residential area but close to many restaurants. It is possible to walk to visit the main tourist attractions but the Berri-UQAM is close by for those who would prefer to use public transport. Philippe was an extremely interesting host making many recommendations on places to visit - we just... More

Fresh fruit and espresso coffee for breakfast, immaculately kept rooms with lovely canadian art on the walls, a location that can't be bettered for the metro (Berri-UQAM) and walking to and fro to cheap and cheerful restaurants and pubs -- and Philippe, who is a fountain of knowledge about Montreal. He has lived in France, Austria and California, so he... More

I LOVE this place! The host, Philippe, is amazing, and makes breakfast every morning (even made fresh crepes, yum!). Rooms are spotless and cozy, and it is located right in the middle of the city, close to Old City and other attractions. Highly recommend!

Philippe greeted us at the door and proceeded to take our luggage. Once in our room he went over a few house items that we appreciated. The accommodations and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast was great and we loved the coffee. Philippe was very knowledgeable and made a lot of great recommendations. He would always introduce all the people staying... More

We stayed two nights at Saint Andre des Artes and as someone who notices details, I can say that Philippe is the kind of host that thinks of everything to make your stay comfortable. Beds, with extra pillows were comfortable and the linens were nice. The air conditioner is a wall unit (instead of a window unit) which was barely... More

This B&B is very conveniently located near the main Montreal subway station, however the neighborhood seems to have quite a few homeless people and eccentrics. The rooms are very comfortable and well kept without being overly decorated. Philippe, the host, is friendly and informative, very helpful, even offering to do some laundry and providing a drying rack. A tasty breakfast,... More

I stayed at the Saint-André des Arts 3 times. The place is very comfortable, spotless clean, and quiet, located in a small street at a short walking distance to the village and many restaurants. Breakfast is served in the common dinning room, where you have the chance to meet other travelers from different parts of the world, creating a very... More

I hesitate to share the info about this b and b in the heart of Montreal, wishing to keep it my secret place. However, since all or most of the 5 rooms were occupied while I was there recently, the word is already out. Philippe, the host, runs a great establishment. Everything is spotlessly clean and set out for comfort... More

I was in Montreal for a conference and decided to try this B&B. I am so happy that I did! I made my colleagues jealous with my tales of my wonderful breakfasts and comfortable room (for a steal of a price!). First off, Phillipe was extremely welcoming and friendly! Even though I spoke practically no French, he made an effort... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
