I can't say enough good things about our stay. My daughter and I stayed here 5 nights, at the beginning and end of our trip. The first time, we were in a room with a shared bathroom, the second time a room with private bath. The b&b is on a quiet street, easy walking to interesting shopping, park, restaurants. It's...

Having only one day in Montreal, and having read the reviews regarding the chattiness of the hosts, I felt like I had not much time to waste and thus did not make myself very open to chatting with the hosts. I felt the hosts gave me just the right amount of space, interacted with humour, offered some helpful tips which...

Champlain room boasts a vista of mount royal from a grand bay window with skylight. Climbing the narrow staircase to the third floor is worth the view and prepares you for walking in Montreal. Excellent breakfast with fresh fruit, asparagus omelet and delicious coffee and a variety of teas. Host Efrim has a wealth of tips on best places to...

We just left the manor to finish off our journey in north america this year, with a great smile on our face. Exhausted with sightseeing around the montreal city, our wife and myself were very glad that this place we chose to stay were top notch. We stayed at the manor for 2 days. The hosts were nice. The room...

Every since my eldest daughter expressed an interest in attending McGill University, I've been visiting Montreal regularly. My first choice for accommodation is the Gingerbread Manor. The house is well located, and the hosts very friendly and helpful. Most recently, the end of my daughter's first year at McGill required my presence, to help move her out of university housing....

I would highly recommend the Gingerbread Manor to anyone traveling to Montreal for business or leisure. I stayed in the Champlain room for 4 nights. The atmosphere was charming. When I arrived (fairly late at night), Ephraim was still up to help me with bags and to get situated in the house. The house is absolutely beautiful. The room and...

I stayed at the GB manor in the Champlain room for 5 nights while in town for business, and the experience was wonderful. Rooms and bathrooms were spotless every day, breakfast was fantatstic (and huge!!), and the location was perfect: 2 blocks to the metro which was easy to use and convenient to the convention center. The hosts were wonderful....

This B&B's location couldn't be better for exploring the best of Montreal. It's within walking distance to terrific restaurants, public transit, and in a charming neighbourhood on its own merits. We're architecture junkies, and this neighbourhood gave us plenty to gape at. Yves and Ephraim were welcoming and congenial hosts. They are both very knowledgeable about their city and we...

This is an experience. The hosts are gracious, knowledgeable and fun. The brekkie was lovely (blintzes!!!), the room magnificent, the towels fluffy. The Gingerbread Manor is centrally located, near the 'action streets'-St. Denis, The Main, Sherbrooke. it is clean, safe and so very comfortable. I would recommend Ephraim and Yves and theri Band B anytime. An added bonus is the...

The two owners of this Bed and Breakfast truly do go beyond to make sure their guests feel at home. The rooms were very beautifully decorated and, with the exception of the front hallway over-flowing with recycling, the house was exceptionally clean. I appreciated how they attempted to "go green" from their energy efficient lightbulbs to the shower supplies in...

We are sadly disappointed to receive this critique. We work tirelessly to offer good food and friendly service. We are sorry that your felt that your breakfast was undercooked and "light" and we apologize if we didn't ask you if you wanted more, we certainly would have obliged. We are sorry that you felt that Ephraim's attempt at friendly story...

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
