I loved this place so much I returned and asked for the same room again this year. My husband was with me and he agreed -- it's the best place we've stayed in Montreal. The breakfast is perfect, Ephram and Yves go to great lengths to serve something delicious and different each morning. Since my husband is allergic to eggs... More

We stumbled upon this lovely B&B in Montreal on our way from Toronto to Quebec and we felt instantly at home the moment we arrived. The house itself is just great with all the matched furniture and decorations and Yves and Ephraim were simply the best hosts one could imagine. We will definitely return here the next time we come... More

I've been meaning to write this review for months... my husband and I stayed at the Gingerbread in August 2010 and had a wonderful time. Although we were in a small room upstairs with a share bathroom, the bathroom was immaculate and the bedroom was gorgeous with a comfortable bed. The location of the B&B is perfect - it's within... I stayed at the Gingerbread Manor for 3 days in November 2010 at what can be described as a genuine 5-star B&B experience. The manor was beautiful and provided excellent accomodation at a very reasonable price, within walkable distance of all the key things in the city. I think the thing that I will remember the most is the service... More

The Gingerbread Manor offers everything I look for in a B&B . . . central location, charming accommodations, walkable neighborhood, engaging proprietors, lively conversations with interesting guests over tantalizing breakfasts, and the thoughtful touches that make me feel pampered. What more could you want? We stayed for a couple of nights before and after a side trip to Quebec City.... More

Ephraim and Yves run a friendly, and easy-going b&b with wonderful and creative breakfasts. They are always ready with advice about Montreal, stories, and even provided us some automotive aid when our car had trouble starting at the end of our stay. Our room was small, but clean and charming. Other rooms in the b&b are much bigger.

We picked this B&B for our first trip to Montreal and fell in love with the city in no small measure due to our delightful hosts, Ephraim and Yves, whose spirit and humor added imensely to the success of our visit. Their guidance concerning a vistor's do's and don'ts proved right on and led to several unexpectedly pleasant intereactions with... More

Greatly welcomed by host who had a lot of sight-seeing tips and tips for the best places to have dinner. The B&B is conveniently located near the metro-station and centrally located from the main attractions. Great room and fabulous breakfast (you should try the different coffee flavours :-D)

Nice, unstuffy, no frills B&B with very clean comfortable rooms in a charming, picturesque neighborhood. Within walking distance to many restaurants - try The Rockaberry if you like pie! Owners were friendly (with a sense of humor), very helpful in giving directions to points of interest in Montreal.

This perfectly charming B&B, in a 125 year old brownstone is situated a few blocks from the metro as well as a pedestrian street that''s full of restaurants and oozes charm. We had nothing but delightful interaction with both Ephraim and Yves at the Gingerbread Manor, enjoying their humor as well as most helpful guidance in do's and don'ts in... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
