Charming Inn close to center of Charlottetown. Easy walking distance to restaurants and other attractions. The on-site restaurant is pretty good and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Our room was pretty, clean, and nicely appointed.

We have eaten at the Dundee Arms for years and thought we could rely on it for a great meal, but we were sorely disappointed this time. I had been looking forward to lobster eggs benedict all week, but I wish now that we had found another restaurant. The eggs were served with breakfast potatoes that were an insult to PEI's potato industry. They were so overdone as to be inedible. The eggs benedict had so little hollandaise sauce that I felt it necessary to ask for some more, which the waiter brought for an extra $2.00. And since live lobsters can be bought for $5,00/pound at the market, wou would think that they could spare at least a claw or two, but all my meal had was a few crumbles of lobster. My husband didn't fare much better. His pancakes were overdone and real maple syrup was an additional charge. And who wants to eat their miniscule slice or crunchy hard watermelon?

Dear Patricia, Thank you for always patronizing our restaurant during your visit to PEI .I am sorry to read about your experience with your meal recently. Our eggs Benedict are one of the most popular items on our lunch/brunch menu and we always get raving reviews on our food, so, I am unsure what transpired during your visit . Can you please email me at manager@dundeearmspei.com Thank you for your comments and I look forward to hearing from you. Pat Sands

When I booked this place I was wowed by the online photos of an old Victorian house redone as an inn. We were not placed in the house but rather in an annex along the side. Although the stonework on the annex and house match, I’m sure that’s where the similarities end. We were essentially staying in a motel room with a pretty facade. There was only one small window so it felt cavelike and two temperatures (hot and freezing). The in room air/fan Is loud but essential so bring earplugs. The location was good and room was clean, but I was under the mistaken impression that we would be staying in the old house. Oh well- be specific when you book!

Good afternoon Agrove, Thank you for the great comments on our location, facade and cleanliness. I am not sure how you booked the room or what site you booked through, however, it is always best to book directly with the hotel so you can be sure that you are getting the proper accommodations. We always confirm your accommodations by email so you will know your room type and all the pertinent information pertaining to your booking. I hope we will have the pleasure of a return visit someday. Have a great summer . Pat Sands

Since our first choice the Holman hotel was fully booked, they suggested their sister hotel the Dundee. Friendly welcome at reception. Price include breakfast and 10% off dinner. There is no elevator so we asked for help with our luggage. Much to our surprise, the chef himself and a lady brought our luggage to room 29 on the 3rd. The inn is situated near a pharmacy, city hall, a church. We could hear airplanes and busses during the day. Supper was good; risotto was cooked perfectly, scallops were pan seared and delicious. Dessert was sinfully good; homemade brownie, homemade chocolate ice cream, topped with caramel crumble and caramel drizzle, very generous portion to share, so scrumptious. Room was turn of the century furniture including a beautiful 4-post bed. Queen Mattress was very firm and squeaky. Coffee machine, tv 42” did not work and they promptly changed the cable box with a smile. Continental breakfast served starting at 07:00. Bring your coupon. Hard boiled eggs, pastries you can warm up in microwave. Fresh fruit salad. Toast, cereal, juice bottles, yogourt, etc. Bathroom creaks and plumbing sings a high pitched sound but that is to be expected for a home built in 1903. Plenty of hot water for my wife’s long shower. Toiletries papaya scent. The room has no air conditioning, has a ceiling fan and all windows can be opened to get the fresh air in. The room has 1 sitting chair, 2 nightstands and a side table with 2 small sitting chairs. A nice walk-in closet and nice victorian desk. We are not fans of bed and breakfast inns but in unpretentious Prince Edward island, we certainly enjoyed the friendliness famous of these islanders.
