The clerk change our room since the first one had a funny smell (like glue or something) and everything was good. The “breakfast” is not a breakfast, toast & juice is good when you are in hurry to leave in the morning.
I'll begin by saying that overall the hotel itself was nice for what it's actual cost should be. That said, I am very angry and I normally don't do this but it needs to be said/known. I live in Kentucky and I have always wanted to visit Canada! I had been budgeting for a small vacation this May and decided to bite the bullet and headed to Canada this past Wednesday! (Week ago today!) I did not have a large budget for the trip so I was choosing hotels and attractions accordingly. When i arrived in Windsor I chose the Super 8 hotel due to its location and price. App said that is was $57(American) a night and when checking in I was told it was $109 a night (Canadian). knowing the exchange rate was roughly $1.40 to our American dollar that made sense to me and was well within my budget. After charging that to my debit card I was then informed that they would also be charging $200(Canadian) to my card as a security hold. First I was upset because this should have been mentioned prior to the cost of the room. Secondly, he pointed to a sign at the far end of the counter like I should have caught that (It was the middle of the night and I had been driving for nearly 12 hours.) Explaining that $200 was a huge part of my budget and that i could not afford that kind of hold on my debit card, he assured me time and time again that the "refund" would be instant. I repeat instant, as soon as I checked out the next day. I explained that I was on a tight budget and there could be no mistaken, I had to have that money for the rest of my trip. Again he assured me that it would be back on my account then next day. I am angry because it is now 7 days later and I still have not received my refund. I had to cancel some of my trip due to losing the $200 dollars. I have called and spoken to them and they told me that I should have made it clear that I was from the United States because that could take up to 2 days! lol First, he had my license and even made a photo copy of it showing I was from Kentucky. Second, I explained to him how far i was from home and needed these funds. He knew what would happen and failed to explain so. I am normally very calm and slow to anger but not only was part of my trip ruined but its the simple fact that it's a week later and I still have not received my refund. Shame on you Super 8. I know that you are a business but your customers welfare should always be consider, more so since you deal with folks traveling from other countries. Not that you will see this, but you need to make this right. I am waiting.…
It was a last minute decision to travel with my friends as they have already booked another place down the road. So I found this place which is within walking distance from my friend's hotel. The whole placebis fairly presentable. notbtoo bad for a few night stay.
Complementary breakfast was to be included with this hotel, however, it was available from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., wow, even on the weekends !! Sorry, slept in til 9:15 a.m.... all gone by then, very disappointing and very hungry
Check in was quick and easy. Clerk was eager to help if needed. Room was clean and comfortable. Had no issues, will stay again. Traffic and construction on the road in front was a pain but not the fault of the hotel.
