The Gladstone was recommended by my co-worker who lives in Toronto. The entire hotel is an old building renovated and designed by artists. Every room is different - from layout to design/decor. Beware of the old elevator - you might want to take the stairs if you're claustrophobic or fear elevators...it's still the old one with the gate to pull... More

HOTEL’S FAVORITE REVIEW
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2016 via mobile

This hotel is not just a place to lay your head, it's a unique experience on it's own to add to any trip. My best friend and I were having a nostalgic getaway by seeing Duran Duran in concert at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre, which is easy to get to from here on one bus with a bit of walking.... Trendy and Bohemian feel. Really easy to get into town as the Tram is outside the door also lots of eateries nearby. Room was small (307) but perfectly fine for one night. Decor is quirky and staff very friendly. It's not the quietest of places but then you are on a main road and there's the throb of air-conditioning, but... More

The Gladstone is unique - historic, art-filled, contemporary. The staff is friendly and first-rate. The location is excellent. Each room is individually designed by an artist. We were very, very pleased to have selected The Gladstone.

it turned out to be great! We traveled with family, so we were not sure how kids friendly this place would be. Also, my mother is an artist and can be judgemental. The rooms we got were neutral and modern, a bit small but clean and sufficient. We liked the neighborhood with cute local institutions. The street car stop was... More

Greetings, Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay, and I'm so thrilled to hear you enjoyed your time with us at the Gladstone! Although the little mouse sounds adorable, this is something we would have followed through on immediately had we been informed of the situation. Because we do have very strict policies in our... Awesome little hotel in a great location! Very unique rooms and galleries. Superb breakfast choices! Comfy bed. Clean our room was pretty soundproof! Great if not tiny shower! Loved how quirky it was as was on a downhill slope to bathroom! Not so funny when your hungover lol!

Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were smaller than standard hotel rooms, but much more interesting. The bed was comfortable. Earplugs were provided because the hotel is in a very vibrant part of the city, so they might have been necessary. My husband needed them but I've lived in city, so outside noise wasn't a problem for me. Gallery settings... More

Fun and great spot in very hip and active neighborhood....Definitely hit up Fameless Karaoke if going on in bar. Decent beer list and solid staff make for a very enjoyable stay and will lead to a return visit.

Having never been to Toronto before we were unsure what district to stay in. The Gladstone looked very interesting so the choice was made. The Disrtict is very "up and coming" giving a mix of the old and the revived! the hotel has been sensitively and carefully modernised without having its historical heart ripped out. Original features remain everywhere and... More

The Gladstone is a beautiful and elegant looking building situated in a cool part of downtown Toronto. The whole concept of the establishment is inspired by art. Every room is designed by a commissioned artist with total originality. The hotel itself had great character and seemed to be the vibrant centre of the local art community. With polite staff, very... Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
