This hotel was built around 1889. It has been refurbished and several artists have decorated the rooms. We stayed in the puzzle room, which had partially finished puzzles mounted on the walls. From the room you can see the modern windmill at Exhibition Place. It was only about a mile or so walk to Exhibition Place. It was what we... More

This hotel is not just a place to lay your head, it's a unique experience on it's own to add to any trip. My best friend and I were having a nostalgic getaway by seeing Duran Duran in concert at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre, which is easy to get to from here on one bus with a bit of walking.... Every element of the Gladstone was excellent: the perfect room, the lobby (they move that couch around a lot), the staff, the art, the atmosphere, the neighborhood (we stayed at The Kind Edward last time, but this was more fun)...

The Gladstone isn't somewhere you go to stay, it's somewhere you go to be. I'm almost surprised that the Gladstone calls itself a hotel. In terms of accommodation, it is not very impressive. In terms of an experience, it manages to break through. Granted, the execution is uneven, but even qualified success in providing something interesting and unique is hard... More

The Gladstone hosted our fabulous event on Wed June 8, 2016. We want to really thank the staff who made ALL the difference. Our guests repeatedly commented on the beauty of this historical building as some have never been inside. The various art exhibits were an enhancement to the hotel’s already-existing character and charm. We would like to say thanks... More

Quaint old hotel that has been refurbished of course. Location is great, comfortable bed, suggest a room at the back if street noise is bothersome. The washroom in our room was barely larger than a small closet, but made do. Largest inconvenience was lack of parking when we arrived in the middle of the day on Saturday. Beautiful old staircase... We stayed at the Gladstone for our anniversary (38th, so we're not kids!) The room was small, but very comfortable, quiet, and had everything we needed. The entire place has a fun vibe. The food in both restaurants was delicious. The best part, though, was the staff. Everyone we met was awesome! We will definitely be back.

We loved the charming vintage decor of the hotel. It was close to our meetings, grocery store, restaurants, and gym. The actual bed and linens were outstanding. Personnel could not have been more friendly and helpful.

The rooms are art experiences and you'll need earplugs to sleep, but it's very charming and comfortable. The Elevator is 100 years old and is operated by a human! Very co0nveniently located and the area has loads of artistic energy.

The best thing about The Gladstone is the people who work there. Front desk staff were consistently helpful and friendly. We did not try the restaurant, but the bar was lots of fun. We enjoyed Lego night and then Music Bingo the night after that. Our particular room was tiny but nicely decorated and spotless. The bed was very comfortable.... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
