We are a well traveled couple and have stayed in many hotels around the world. We can honestly say that the Beverley is singularly the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. It’s clean, it’s in a really trendy neighbourhood and close to all the action. However the room is ridiculously small, we could not open 1 of our 2 suitcases without putting it on the bed. No window, the sink was beside the bed and an opaque glass sliding door separated the toilet and shower. Even that didn’t shut properly. The TV is mounted in the ceiling and would have been great if it was connected to an aerial. We were on the third floor and the lift was the slowest ever, several times we thought it had stopped. Outside there are major works to the pavement so very noisy and dusty. We were supposed to stay 2 nights, but managed to escape after the first night, to be fair the hotel did let us cancel the 2nd night. Maybe for young hipsters with an overnight bag this is great, but it certainly wasn’t for us!

Hello, Thank you for your feedback! We apologize if the sizing of your room affected the quality of your stay. We list all of our sizing details online with exact measurements, dimensions, photos, amenities and descriptions (including our frosted glass pane in our Standard style rooms) on all of our booking channels prior to completing your reservation. We also list larger sized rooms (XL and Standard Plus). Our XL, Standard Plus, and Studio rooms all have windows as well. We encourage guests to verify their room details before completing their reservation. Please note the construction currently being completed outside is contracted by the City of Toronto and we no control over it. Regards, The Beverley Hotel

After travelling the world and staying in hundreds of hotels, this is the first negative review I’ve ever written. Very disappointed with my experience. The shower was dirty with orange mould / bacteria in the cracks and grouting. The plug mechanism in sink was broken on arrival and also dirty. The toilet seat was loose and moves a significant amount from side to side. The curtains were not connected to the end of the rod, and as a result when you tried to close them to the middle, they just opened at the ends. The pillows were terrible to sleep on, and to top it off I was woken early by the construction noise outside. On arrival, I asked the staff member what was the latest time was I could check-out. He advised me that I could check-out at 1pm. I confirmed this again with him and he told me I could check-our at 1pm. Despite this conversation, at about 12pm I get a call from the same guy on the from desk saying “hello, this is the front desk, hotel policy states that guests must check out by 12pm.” To top it off, the hotel has the worlds lowest elevator. I’ve never seen anything like it . I contacted management and advised them of my experience and requested a partial refund, even if it was just to be reduced to the lowest room rate that was advertised that day. I was offered 20% discount and a free drink for a return stay and advised that they could not issue a refund. I will definitely not be returning for a second chance of a terrible experience so a reduced rate for a second stay is pointless.

Hi Ben, Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us, we appreciate it! We do sincerely apologize but we would like to preface our response by stating that none of the mentioned maintenance issues were brought to the attention of the front desk during your stay. Upon inspection all of them were easily fixed and we regret we weren't able to fix them during your stay as we were not informed. Regarding the late check out we also sincerely apologize. Late check outs are not guaranteed and we have spoken to the front desk team to make sure this information is communicated properly to guests moving forward. We also received an email after your stay essentially requesting a refund in exchange for negative reviews not to be posted, please note this is not a tactic we subscribe to. Regarding your issue with rates please note our rates are posted with the before tax total not the after-tax total as mentioned in your email and are also subject to change at any time before your reservation is confirmed. Thank you once again for your feedback and we hope you a great day!

Popped up to the rooftop for a margarita and some tacos. Intimate space with a view. Drinks were good, tacos were great as was the guacamole and chips. Recommended for when the weather is nice. Will definitely return

I booked this hotel a few months ago for a 6-night stay in early May. I was drawn to the location and the price, as this was definitely one of the cheaper options in Downtown TO. I noticed when booking that the rooms were small so opted for 'The Standard' rather than their basic, 'The Studio' to give ourselves a bit more room. On arrival, the man at check-in was very helpful and friendly - so that, the cost and the location are where my pros end. In terms of cons - 1) the room was tiny! Even smaller than I'd expected but luckily they have been quite clever with space so we weren't tripping over our cases or anything like that 2) there is no window - no natural light or chance to check the weather before we left the room got a bit much after 6 nights 3) the ac wouldn't work and the room was boiling - we resorted to taking turns holding the door open, trying to get some cold air in from the corridor! 4) as I mentioned, we stayed for 6 nights and in that time, our room was only cleaned twice! Our towels and bedding weren't replaced on the first clean so we had to leave a note asking for fresh laundry on the second which we got (the day before checkout!) 5) although the hotel isn't too noisy - we were lucky not to hear the hustle and bustle from outside at all - you can hear your neighbours, in particular, watching telly and opening and closing their doors which got quite annoying Overall, I probably wouldn't stay here again as although it's not awful, I would be willing to pay more to stay somewhere nicer on my next visit to Toronto.

Hi Sarah, Thank you for the feedback regarding your recent stay with us, we appreciate it. We're glad that our helpful and friendly staff were able to help you feel welcome during your stay and that you enjoyed our convenient location. We sincerely apologize if the sizing of your room affected the quality of your stay. We also apologize if you experienced any discomfort due to the temperature in your room and we're sorry we couldn't make it right. However we can confirm the A/C unit in your room was working and we had no recorded instances of you attempting to contact our front desk for resolution. We have 24/7 front desk service and we could have happily looked into this for you to get the A/C working or moved you to a different room. We also apologize for your experience with our housekeeping department as this is far from the norm. Daily cleaning is available from our housekeeping staff but our records show you had your room sign on Do Not Disturb for 3 of your nights stays. Whether this was accidental or not is unclear but this was their reasoning behind their actions as all rooms which have a thumbs up sign on their door receive daily cleaning. Thank you for your feedback once again and we wish you a pleasant day and the best of luck with your future travels!

This hotel has charm and a Great location in the centre of the city amidst shops, bars and restaurants. The rooms are small, but creatively and tastefully designed and some have no windows ( natural light comes in through a clever system) - this is transparently dedcribed on the website. However, the fact that there is no breakfast served, the rooftop bar and slamming doors can be noticable ( I am deliberately saying not noisy because it isn’t that bad) and there is no desk to work on, makes me advice 3 stars. Great place to stay for 2 nights while being out discovering Toronto.
