Hostels are hard to rate because certain things need to be overlooked. For example, if you shared a room, it is not exactly the hostel's fault if a roommate snores loudly all night long. This hostel is very clean, the bathrooms, shared rooms, kitchens and shared communal spaces are all well maintained and clean. The only thing I would have... More

We stayed a in private ensuite for three. The hostel was really clean. The staff was always ready to help when we needed something. The location was good and there was a big and cheap supermarket across the street. We cooked all our meals at the hostel, which was actually nice because the kitchen was well equipped and always clean.

The staff is very friendly and helpful with all your questions. My rating of 3 stars reflect that the stay didn't disappoint nor exceed my expectations; you get what you pay for. I chose a bunk bed in a two person room; there was no window and the bare 10 cm extra beyond on the bed (and area for the... More

I spent 4 nights at Toronto's All Days Hostel Selby Street) in May 2016. Great value for a low price! I had a 13-y/o so was nervous about security staying at a hostel but we had our own (small) private room and the main front door had a programmable security code. Was very comfortable. Our room, as well as the... More

It's near the downtown, subway and bus station. What I like is the kitchen where you can buy your own stuff and cook here, so save the money and have the feeling of homey. The bathroom is clean and well-maintained. The wifi is a bit weak sometimes but it's not a big deal if you dont watch movies :).

Possibly the most miserable stay I have ever had. Stay away from this place at all cost. I booked here over the Christmas period which covered nearly 2 weeks. In that time I was forced to moved rooms 3 times!! The first was actually on Xmas eve and out visiting friends when I was contracted by my mobile at 11:30pm... More

We arrived in January and the hostel was in the process of being renovated. The paint fumes were horrible. When we arrived it was extremely cold so everything was closed up resulting in no ventilation for the paint fumes. It was sickening - and no refunds given even though the fumes caused major health problems. In addition, the tv in... More

We had reservations for 3 nights, arriving January 18 2016. We did not have a bathroom. Our first hint that this wasn't going to go well came before we arrived, when they sent an email saying their van needed repairs and they cold not pick up at the airport. (Now we doubt they ever planned to pick us up.) Then,... More

The hostel is very clean, great located (very near the subway!) and very quiet. The only issue I had was that the single bedroom I booked was quite small with a tiny window and had a very bad smell of cigarettes. Other than that the staff was helpful, the common areas are excellent with a great equipped kitchen!

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
