This is my second stay at this hotel. The hotel is nicely situated near the shopping and restaurant district, yet off a quieter side street which was great. The front desk experience took longer than I would have liked, with only 1 agent taking customers and 3 others working on different tasks. A busy front desk with lines was consistent... More

This was a nice little hotel. Rooms a little small for the price but nicely kept! Good location for what we needed to do. Friendly service. We even got a complimentary cookie at check in and a complimentary bottle of water the next day. They made you feel special.

My daughter and I went to Toronto for a two day shopping trip. We booked this hotel because of the good location and reasonable rates. All staff members from Check In to Dining room to Housekeeping were very pleasant and very accommodating.. Very nice and very clean hotel. Warm chocolate chip cookies on arrival just an added bonus

I stay in the city from 1-3 times a month for work, and have stayed at several hotels around Bay street & MacDonald block. This is my preferred hotel - the prices are average/slightly higher than average ($179/night usually), but the rooms are ALL renovated, clean, and spacious. Other hotel rooms in the area are like shoeboxes. The location is... More

We made the mistake of accidentally booking this hotel room for the wrong weekend and since our booking service didn't send us but one notification - we didn't catch the error until it was too late as the date had already passed. We pleaded with the hotel for some mercy but they weren't interested - they offered to take some... More

The staff at the double tree desk were extremely welcoming. The rooms are nice and contemporary with awesome beds. The location of this double tree is great, only a block away from ice skating, right near the bike share bikes, and a few blocks away from the city center. Overall a fairly priced, excellent hotel!

The Double Tree is located in a great spot, between Younge Street and University Avenue. It's an easy walk to the Eaton Centre and lots of shopping. The rooms (mine anyway) was a little small, but clean comfortable and equipped with everything I needed. Staff, including reception and housekeeping were all very friendly and helpful. The only downside is parking.... More

This hotel used to be the Metropolitan, and was getting quite run down. Newly renovated by Hilton it is now a very pleasant place to stay, very conveniently located in downtown Toronto. The two restaurants remain, although I didn't eat in either this time as there are lots of inexpensive restaurants on Dundas Street, Chinatown, and Kensington.

My husband and I stayed here for a one-night getaway this past weekend. The room was ready super early and we were able to check in before noon! The hotel is less than a 10 minute walk from the Eaton Centre, and from multiple subway stations. It's really an ideal location! We went to a concert on King Street and... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
